if youre running from youre desired sound card and just wanted to disable your old sound (intergrated i assume) then that would not have been the case. what you can do is to set your BIOS to its defaults and go check in device management for a sound settng's properties to enable (sound icon).should work fine again.
that is if the drivers is installed

Hey There
Hehe
I know exactly what youre talking about, I did a favour for a buddy the other day sata would show its detection in BIOS and in RAID at startup but once you actually wanna install the OS you cant see the disk. Workaround:enable raid for sata in bios but your raid drivers should be installed once thats done you can run from raid disks

go into BIOS intergrated peripherals in there youll be able to disable your sound and onboard display

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

about

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

sure it is cos its intergrated both works independently. are you comfortable with laptops, have you opened you lappy before

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

reason for the strange behaviour is cos you have no drivers installed for sound and graphics I guess you dont have a driver cd
heres wot you do:
1)if youre using a graphics and sound card give me the full names printed on the cards and ill direct you to the drivers
2)if its intergrated(meaning onboard not pci cards) then give me your mobo model and manufacturer

download trend micro's DOS application here (2.1MB) and the two essential pattern files namely lptXXX and sspdaX_XX(X means latest versions)witch you can find at the same site

extract/install the DOS application and the files in a temp folder(all inthe same folder) in the root of local disk, now go into safe mode and run the DOS application

Hey, I have a similar problem with my home edition. But it's wierd because my graphic driver is installed, but it still acts as though I have no graphic card. And I went to dell.com to download the missing drivers but even after i follow all the required steps for download and instalation, It acts as though i havn't installed a single thing.

that is common for when you install a driver and theres already a driver installed. causing the one driver to not get its way.if thats the cave with your machine uninstall the older one

obviously with gr8 specs and sp1 vista should run fine.vista demands performance, the OS itself absorbs ram,cpu ussage etc. conflict comes when you wanna play games like crysis etc.so if you have gr8 specs whats there not to like about vista

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

ohk dont worry about the cmos checksum error,as long as your cmos is properly seated all is fine.what you can do now in your BIOS set all to defaults.
As for the keyboard still being in its current morbid state, try a USB keyboard if its easy for you to obtain one just for testing. Im thing PS\2 for mouse controller thats corrupted. but try a usb so long if it works get your new OS and check after install if its behaving better when ps2 is attached
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

those are actually all good/recent graphics cards it will all just depend on what your mobo will support.for further help give your pc specs [monbo model in specific]

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

last time I checked nvidia's driver suite works on most cards almost like all in one

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

you are still getting a BSOD because your system is still trying to boot from your hard drives old windows install.
Good Luck

the bsod can still accure when booting from cd though.

if wdigitallocksmith's info doesnt turn out to help you you might wanna format your hard drive in another machine and install your OS while putting the drive back as master in your own machine
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

reading your post and realising that great minds think alike[monitor is running towards end of days].Most likely the case.Ive never heard of a Graphics card thats causing your monitor to behave like this but than again it doesnt mean that its impossible. you can try a graphics card just for testing if indeed its the monitor. Before buying a new monitor do run that test first

??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hi there
ohk heres what you can do that will eliminate some questions that I wanted to ask you. Remove everythink from your board including
-cd/dvd drives
floppy
-other external cards ie sound card
etc
except your ram and display card(graphics card)
Remove your cmos for 10+ minutes (power diconnected)
Now replace cmos and connect power with monitor cables [leave other hardware disconnected just ram and display card connected] and start machine up
Tip: If you have a camera phone take a photo of your machines layout before you remove anything

eighter there isnt enough power on your mobo to supply to your LCD
OR
Somewhere there some connections that doesnt connect properly
OR
alternatively your lcd has had its day

Welcome Nanino

Seems to me the problem your experiencing is hardware related.power failures can be a pain in the bud.lets just hope that all parts is still working.
Heres what you do open computer box and remove the cmos battery for five to ten minutes put it back in after that and restart computer.
[attached file shows cmos]

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

ohk aunistly I didnt read your whole post, however I found that read that whenever you install your sound driver you get a system that doesnt perform right, right?
is the drivers that you installed the drivers that you got when youve purchused the mobo or did you downlload the drivers. sounds like driver confliction thats causing the pain on your system.
Also can you give me your full system specs when posting your answer

Ohk heres what you do.Open machine (only when you comfortable working inside) and disconect your fan.Run the fan at normal power(meaning not connected to lappy) If the fan runs well under good whilest connected straight to electricity than you fan is not broken, means theres lack of power(witch I doubt)However if the fan doesnt work throughout the staraight power connection than you should buy a new one
