Thanks for the encouraging words.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Perhaps it does. It may reflect that networks save better shows for Wednesdays and Thursdays and maybe Sundays, which could lead to more web surfers earlier during the week. I got to digg through Nielsen's data to answer this one.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just hope most people remember that logic and not first "tweet" about it and lose precious life saving moments. It brings back memories about how a staff member who found Heath Ledger decided to call one of the Olsen twins rather than call 911. Who knows if that decision could have changed the outcome of this story...

Hi
You may find some hidden gems searching through the message boards on DaniWeb. I also suggest you to go to www.mashable.com and go for their recommendation on top web design. I usually like going to that site for resources. From my own experience, I recommend using:
1. Weebly for fast doi-it-yourself web design
2. Logomaker for affordable logos

For your other questions, you may want to do some quick n dirty market research using survey monkey and recruiting people via craigslist.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Actually it was based on the fact that people usually are not online starting on thursday to the weekend as much as earlier during the week. This could be due to social life and non-online activities.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I totally agree. I also agree that by understanding the bounce rate, it helps you optimize the site for the future.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

What are your success story in regards in growing your business using YouTube? Did you create a channel? I know it helps increase reach but did it help increase the type of visitors you wanted?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Only if you can tell them "I told you so."

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks for sharing that story. The type of insight that Google Analytics provides can help businesses optimize their internet marketing and revenue making opportunity.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

A popular social media tactic for small businesses is to establish and build a corporate presence on LinkedIn. Has this helped your business? Did you get any new leads? What do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

But not many kids are blessed with hawk parents like you. Thus, even for adults who are laxed about their social media behavior, the consequence of not being cautious could be a high price to pay.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I would like to add to your list:
slides on slideshare.

Many people use them as a possible viral marketing tool. I actually have posted many slides on SlideShare. Though I never got any new business lead, I have seen I had many views. I still keep hope alive that I will get leads one day using this tactic.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I agree with you Marketing Rob. Until Yahoo/Bing beef up their web based productivity suite like Google did, Google will be king. Thus, Google have the advantage in regards to market share.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes and I also found out through experience that I had better call back rate applying through Craiglist than through Monster and other job sites.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks for the good comments. So the upshot here is for monitoring, it is good to use twitter search and then correlate referred traffic to possible tweets. Second, monitor closely any conversions on the site as benchmarks. I personally have not used Google Analytics for clients, just for my blogs, but it does seem it do the job of providing important metrics.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I totally agree. It also helps if the e-signature card also had a picture. At these conferences, one could meet so many people that a picture helps stir the memory.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Well your friend is an exemplary of the ideal blogger that many bloggers aspire to be.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I totally agree. I also have seen the same job posted on Craigslist but on CL - the job may not state the potential employer while on other boards it does. I used CL to cross reference.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

It depends. Are you looking for a small digital shop that helps advertising agencies or a business that caters small businesses?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Though PPC reports can be obtained in document format, you can also receive in csv format for data extrapolation. So if you do data analysis on your PPC results, which Excel plug-ins or data visualization tool do you use to make sense of this data?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Many online ads nowadays have a social media component to them. It can either be the voting of hands up or hands down on Facebook ads. Or it can be tweeting about a rich media ad. So how do you take this into consideration when you are strategizing for your online ad?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

As you are trying to assess the traffic of your website, aside from reviewing the analytic reports, what other accessory tools or plug-in do you use to monitor traffic. I know some tools are browser based meanwhile others are analytic tool based. I found this one for Google Analytics - http://www.gpablo.com/ - but its not applicable for other tools. So what do you recommend?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

We know that there is no standards in measuring web analytics and ad analytics among the various web measuring tools. Despite that, the terminology is almost standard in this industry though. Thus, which metrics and benchmarks do you use to measure? I would start with:
1. unique visitors
2. repeat visitors
3. time spent on site
4. how many comments
5. how many replies
6. how many threads started

What do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Hi
So what measures do you use to accurately measure all the engagement points of a rich media ad? It is measuring beyond click through rates and impressions. Have you encountered tracking issues?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks SMRTY for sharing that business testimonial. I knew Skype was used for more than just friendly conversations. Overall, Skype is not the only acquisition in which Yahoo could not monetize.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Could very be. I do suspect that this is just the beginning of Google launching a newer more intelligent search engine to reflect both natural language and semantic. What do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I agree. I also believe in combining a few different tactics to cater these different segments. Let say, for the ladies: use keyword/keypharse SEM campaign that these ladies will likely use. Then for the remaining 75%, not only use a SEM campaign but do microtargeting and try different ways (and optmizing every so often) like reaching them through facebook ad.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just read on MediaBistro about how Tuesdays is the most popular day on Facebook in regards to clicking to links on brand page. So as you growing an online community, this is good to take into consideration.
http://www.mediapost.com/publications/?fa=Articles.showArticle&art_aid=113154

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just read on Nielsen's blog about how advertisers tactics on their coupon program have paid off.
http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/consumer/coupon-enthusiasts-drive-up-redemption-rates/
The blog also went on about how these coupon customers spent more. Thus, in this economic times, advertisers have tapped to those customers and actually have seen a boost in their sales. So would you use coupons as an advertising sale strategy?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just read on mashable today about how Google has increased their search box. This change reflects the trend that many users include more than 2 search terms to generate a search.
http://mashable.com/2009/09/09/google-supersized/
So in regards to SEO for your site, will this change prompts you to include longer keyword phrases on your content?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I totally agree. Hopefully it is possible to compartmentalize. I just used a lovely Outlook helper add-on called Xobni and on the contact section of the business contacts - their facebook picture shows up! So perhaps now the lines of business and personal just gets blurrier every day.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I do think that the sense of privacy does not really exist anymore - especially where people post the most details as possible on Twitter and Facebook updates, like "just got to work now" or "read a document for work". There was a funny clip on Current TV about this: http://current.com/items/89891774_twouble-with-twitters.htm

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

If I was in an emergency, I would definitely call 911 (if in Sacramento - though I wonder). I would save my precious minutes on my cell phone making urgent calls than logging on to Facebook and updating my status. Though, on the other side of the coin, look at what happened in Iran. It was the Twitter updates that help post other countries what was going on.
But it was more for reporting rather than asking for immediate help.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I personally never saw the use for Skype but I do remember some business owners who had international clients said they either wanted to use or used Skype to interact with those international clients. With the complaints I have heard about Skype, I would not want to interrupt a business call. That is just me.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

i read a blog post this morning on Search Engine Land about how the number of keywords or keyword phrases have increased, thus the power for one individual keyword has decreased. I think people do this to increase the chances of obtaining relevant SERPS.
http://searchengineland.com/coming-soon-paid-search-without-keywords-25312
So what do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I saw this interesting post on ClickZ which states only a quarter of women stated that social media influenced purchases. So for us marketers, we may have to restrategize on how we use social media to push our businesses. This finding also illustrates the need to optimize current social media strategize to help push business. So what do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I do wonder if the same principles that it takes to build trust offline transcends to building trust online. What do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I personally have used google trends as a form of assessing the online landscape. I think it is very helpful more from a macro than a micro level. I dont know how it can be used for PPC but I do think it is good to determine keyword contect for your site.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

So my question is: how do you build online clout?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

In order to make your online community grow, it is important to understand how these digital/online communities engage your users. Thus, when I saw this hierachy based on Maslow's hierachy of needs, I thought I should share it and ask for your opinions. What I found interesting is that it compared iPhone use as top of the hierachy. What do you think?

Dear Members:

As social media is cementing itself as a permanent and constant fixture in our digital lives, people we meet in our offline world can easily also translate to digital connections. Thus, what do you do when your boss wants to be your Facebook friend? I personally believe in exercising the privacy options of your Facebook secuirty options to the max. Create separate groups and then limit what members of these groups can see. So what do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

There are many social media monitoring tools that discover the brand influencers on the blogosphere. Many brands use this to identify these influencers and invite them to either review thier product, their services, or invite them to an event so they can review it.

Thus, I found this very interesting blog post by Steve Rubel about the New Influencers. Its a good read.

http://www.steverubel.com/white-paper-engaging-the-new-influencers

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have seen countless posts about asking for adice on growing online communities. I often advise on using traditional and word of mouth as a way to grow an online community. I have been to several internet marketing related events where founders of online communities use these events to promote their sites. I do think this is a good way, especially if you are reaching a certain demographic. So what do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I read a Forrester blog about its findings from a study of 100 internet marketers. It mentioned the marketers felt the least for measuring social media. You see social media measurement is still an evolving science.
http://blogs.forrester.com/marketing/2009/08/measurement-has-room-for-improvement.html

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I read on a blog about the lack of rich media ads and not many ads that are considered rich media are not rich at all. If the Flash ad does not contain video nor animation, then it recommended, not to bother. So what do you think about that?
An excerpt:
# There's a lot of rich media being served – but most of it's not very rich. DoubleClick says that in 2008, less than 40% of the impressions it served were GIFs or JPEGs. So does that mean the other 60% were rich media? Not according to DoubleClick: it says 55% of its 2008 impressions were "simple Flash" ads. Just 6% of the impressions served in 2008 were rich enough to be labeled "rich media."

As you try to grow your online community, it is good to know who are connected online and who may be your best target audience. I read on a blog with these interesting stats:

Well I fall in one of those bove mentioned segments and believe I validate, at least with one of those above mentioned, points.

So what do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

As you know, there are a few semantic web search engines out there. Do you use them? If so, what do you think? Do you optimize your your web sites for these search engines like:
opencalais.com and wolframalpha.com

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I read on a Nielsen blog about how certain brands may have name recognition but are not megabrands while others are.
http://en-us.nielsen.com/main/insights/consumer_insight/september_2009/does_a_megabrand_equal
So I wonder how can we marketers make our brands into a megabrand?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I read a blog posting about the difference between a B2B client versus a B2C consumer on social media. The posting went on to say that b2b clients are fewer but stronger and have more brand loyalty. So what do you think about that?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I know a common tactic for internet marketers is to submit links to Digg. Now that Digg has incorporated a NoFollow on links on profiles to prevent spams. http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/090902-180759
Do you think this will affect how marketers use Digg?
