We all know most business users use Excel to track sales and metrics. Thus, which tricks on Excel do you use that you strongly recommend for others to use? Please do share.

Very true. That is why I also recommend working with a UI or Information Architecture expert to ensure that the site provides an engaging experience as possible.

If LinkedIn does increase functionality, LinkedIn has to be careful that it wont become a Myspace in this regards. One reason on why Facebook is very successful is that pages, even business pages, are restricted in their design.

So going back to the original question, can social media help Kanye? Well, first it can. Second, US consumers can be a forgiving and totally forget about his antic in no time. Look at Chris Brown. His songs are still playing.

Right, because the traffic are sent buy the social media are so untargetedm, they are generally the qucik come and quick go type!

Not necessarily. Look at the few examples about how Dell or other businesses have leveraged Twitter to increase their sales. Not only did these businesses reached their target audiences, these businesses have seen good ROI. http://business.twitter.com/twitter101

It could be useful. Only time will tell.

Yes, I have seen those reports as well that Bing is growing faster, but as everything else, such growth will plateau.

Hmm... what a coincidence with Kanye and Lady GaGa. But with Serena, she is infamous for her erratic behavior which is a characteristic trait of hers. It helps her make her different.

I hate to break to you but I ran a search for "tweet-o-sphere" and Google generated over 191,000 results. Copyright it fast!

Thanks CSCGal for bringing up the breakfast issue. I see this most prevalent in Twitter than in Facebook but not that there are multiple tools that allows simultaneous posting across social networks, the lines of differentiating "personalities" have blurred. My whole question is,"What is the social value of informing to the whole world that the user is eating?"

It is interesting that Nielsen announce this partnership as their competitor, Comscore, just announced a partnership with Omniture to ensure more metric centric actionable insights for businesses. Thus, this reminds me when Myspace made changes to suit to businesses and where is it now? J

Perhaps but the mere fact that people are talking about him days after shows that his extreme tactics does help increase sales, even if its for one song or radio plays. So if he tweeted apologies will it help? Perhaps, but my ture question is: is this genuine?

Though Bing may not necessarily out beat Google, it is now a preferred search engine for image search and verticals.

What is your social media ettiquette?

My rules is that I use LinkedIn for business and professional colleagues. I only accept invites from people I either met in person and/or I have interacted with.

Facebook for friends and professional associates so I can keep up with relevant news feed. Twitter for almost everyone except blatant spammers.

I saw this interesting one:

We al know that now a days, the majority of internet marketing sites discuss social media. That said, let's say, a business does launch a social media tactic, then what? What is the one take away you want your client to learn? One take-away I say about social media is that a client does not have to use every single social media tactic out there since it may not be the right venue. For experience, a B2B product may not benefit at all to launch a presence on Myspace.

So what do you think?

As an avid Mac user, I have not noticed much differences when logging on to Facebook and other social networks. However, even a few years ago, I did. Perhaps it may be due to the act that I use FireFox rather than Safari.
Anyway, there are certain tools or software that does matter on the OS.
So what do you think?

Though I am not a big Twelebrity nor Twitter user, early on, I have recognized the value of retweeting, especially if it is for a good purpose, like retweeting someone's resume or a public event. So how have you used retweeting? Do you do it or if you dont, why not?

If you had podcasts or audio feeds about your product or brand, how have you optimized this audio for SEO?

Most importantly, how do you track this audio for success in regards to analytics? Do you use TargetSpot Analytics?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just read on a blog about optimizing SEO for emails.

I do think that optimizng the subject line is most important to ensure that the intended recipient actually opens and reads the email.

What are your experiences regarding optimizing for emails? Have you used a particular service like ReturnPath? Please do share your stories.

Thanks

Thanks for sharing the pigeonrank system. It had be going until I saw one of the questions regarding if the smartness of pigeons and then I realized it was an April Fools prank. Thanks for the chuckle.

I never heard of Chitikia. I am surprised no one mentioned Yahoo Networks here, especially since now Yahoo and Bing are combined.

Thanks for explaining what is rich media ads.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

One important aspect of social online advertising is refining the targeted group of potential clients. For some of the brands I represent, I would not recommend advertising on certain social networks.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Many branded content sites only engage the visitor for 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Of course, this is not including Facebook. So if Digg visitors spent that much on the site, it is still good from an advertiser perspective.

From my experience, CTR for adsense words depends on categories and there could be vast differences between the keywords within that same categories. Usually 1-3%. In some long tail categories, I have seen CTR of 0.1%!

Both banners, especially if these banners are rich media, and PPC advertising can help bring relevant traffic to the website as well as it can help increase exposure to the brand.

Are you talking about Twitter? If so, here is a useful site produced by Twitter for businesses. http://business.twitter.com/twitter101

I really believe in creating a social media roadmap before implementation and then constantly optimizing for:
1. Content Relevance
2. Encouraging interactions with other members
3. Constant contribution
4. Ensuring that these social media tactics help refer traffic to your website

But some financial analytics/reporting tools actually capitalize on selling their software/product due to real time data. Think of Bloomberg's terminals. Bloomberg became a billionaire selling these terminals that display real data.

I just came back from a SEMPO event and one of the speakers who mention that many businesses have forgotten to connect social media tactics with increasing sales and ROI. Most businesses jump in the social media strategy without really thinking of it strategically.

Thanks for sharing this link. I do find the comment regarding "she did not respond" in regards to the cat not an indicator of a rude behavior. In today's society, I do believe that if you are not a close friend, it is accepted fact that your email will not receive priority. What do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I will use it, at least once in a while. It seems that Google is becoming a one stop shop for most productivity online utilities.

Yes, I actually done the same thing myself. Remember that by doing this way, your resume may not end up in the filter box if it does not fit. Also, make sure you try three different combination of the keyword phrases when you search on craigslist, just in case....

Every time we post on online communities, we leave data trails. Even your signature leaves keyword phrases that any search engine crawlers can find. So what do you think about that?

Some people use wikis, like pbwiki, others use Ning, both help build online communities. So which cost-effective tools do you use to build your online communities? I personally have used Ning and though the community was very robust, some users found it hard to use. So which one do you use to build your online communities?

Back even a few years ago, it was popular to use log files to ascertain web analytics. Now, most companies use a javascript tag that the web analytic tool picks up. Hence, do you still rely on logfiles? Or do you forget it even exists?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

As we all know, Google Analytics and other web analytics tools do provide a list of referring keywords. Thus, have you used web analytic reports to decide and then optimize your keyword list.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

When growing an online community, how often do you care to check the web analytics reports? We all know that most web analytics tools have at least a day delay in data reporting. Hence, would you pay extra, in some cases, much much more to get live data.

In the past few months, I have seen a number of online community or social communication communities built specifically to communicate messages after death. Some of these sites have very strong presense in the UK. Imagine a Facebook for the dead.

Would you join such a community or pre-make messages so it can be sent after death?

This is one of them:

I have seen some users easily create very beautiful channels on YouTube. It has definitely helped strengthen their media presence online.
