Hi,
did you check everything is in order and double-checked?
* are your cpu fan working?
* are your keyboard lights up when you boot?
* did you reseat power supply cable to their place? one big and one small (usually yellow and black)
might as well boot your pc and let it run for about 20minutes and see whether it'll start to boot
others you have done so skip that.
Hard to choose... (for me at least)
I would rule out ZoneAlarm. It's good in general but it's also very good at eating your recources. I once use Zonealarm product and got bloated few month later.
Might I suggest you use either McAfee or Norton for better one...
please don't post in old thread anymore... if anyone need help for same problem or anything, please create new thread in specific forum and some volunteers will help you solve your problem...
maybe the DVD you're trying to eject may still in use...
it's commonly occur when you run something from disk drive and eject it without closing the program...
Check again which program affiliate with your burner... Maybe anti-virus had done a scan on your burner in background...
524 away for a while but back now
528 hi all

hi,
you can find any good cd burner software for ubuntu in Ubuntu software centre.
It should be on under Tools window.
488 hi wenbnet

compiz is not currently unstable for 11.04 because of they set unity as default desktop (I'm not totally sure about this)
Even if it's available in Ubuntu Software Centre doesn't mean it'll support compiz without any problem. Some computer may have problem running compiz.
I don't know the backdoor to get inside ubuntu in order to disable compiz so i think you'll need to reinstall ubuntu. If there's an important files that you need to back up, download Gparted live cd from other computer and burn it to a cd, then run Gparted.
Perhaps you might want to wait for other members to help you with this since I'm still learn to use ubuntu fully...

Hi,
can you post any print screen picture just to confirm what kind of problem you have? And what's your windows 7 version? starter, home premium or ultimate?
I have 3. One for personal use, one for utter spamming, and one for twitting...
Doesn't make any sense, does it?
But seriously, just two would be sufficient for regular internet user (personal and business) and one for light internet user. If you're paranoid, then 4 is best (personal, business, spam, and one for when other 3 fails)
Then again, having so many email account is not a big deal at all unless you like to stalk people a lot...
It could be something wrong with the add-on or IE mess up. It always be.
IE such an unreliable browser even with newer IE... IE also binds with windows so if something wrong happen inside windows, IE also goes haywire with it...
hi,
if you have a previous linux-image, you can return to 10.10 and disable compiz...
I haven't done this before because I haven't upgraded my 10.04 and try it yet but I like old one better than 11.04
494
Maybe a reinstallation for IE is needed but just to be sure, lets test it with another browser...
Go to this link http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/ and download the firefox portable. It just need an extraction for it to work and you can use it from you pendrive too...
Test it with that browser if it could work with your computer and can upload your files with ease, then you may have either bad IE or bad upload server...
Try this if restarting won't work. There are two methods
Method #1
Open Device Manager (it should be right-click computer icon - under hardware tab
There should be a lot of devices that connected inside your computer. Check whether your keyboard is listed in the Keyboard section. If not, highlight any icon and click on 'Scan for hardware change' icon and check whether it detect your keyboard. (You may need to reinstall your keyboard driver for it to work properly)
Method #2
Do this if you have any extra desktop keyboard in your home and it should be in fine condition. Try to unplugged the faulty one and test it with another keyboard. Check whether it could detect your keyboard. If not available, proceed with Method #3
Method #3
If this method won't work with just the faulty one, then you may just had a bad keyboard (and you need to replace it)
Reboot your computer but this time, try to tap on Del button to enter bios or any key that has specific function during bootup. If it does work, then there could be something wrong with your windows.
Try first and let us know the results...

probably you just need a simple restart to make it work...
p/s2 connection mostly needed to restart in order for them to work even if you used USB adapter for that...

Is this all from Speccy? Doesn't look it was a complete one... Please send a more detailed one...
I've checked the specs again on the homepage just to make sure, try this first
* Unplugged you internet cable and plug it again after 10 secs.
* Try using cables instead of using wireless
* Use stable version of synergy (not beta)
Maybe there's some issue with running 64-bit XP along with Ubuntu but I'm not too sure about it... I'll do some homework first on this and come back with a better solution...

Well did anyone try it with different OS?
It too once happened to me when my music content in my pendrive suddenly gone but when I inserted it into at least 3 mp3 players, it worked as it should be...
It happen on window xp but when i open pendrive in ubuntu os, all files are there, no hidden stuff and all.
I supposed there's an error so I checked my pendrive with chkdsk in windows and voila, it's readable again...
1904. hmmm... (team A - 4), (team B - 0)

hi jingda, wenbnet

((H -team B- =(-2) right??))
Hi blogger371,
unfortunately there's no way to reinstall windows xp safely without losing any data in windows partition directory.
If you still want to format anyway, just backup all your important files and folders to another available partition ie. Drive D, Drive D or in external storage. That way, you won't lose your important data when reformatting...
I haven't try this before but I'm not sure if this will work... Might as well backup everything before trying this method
Boot from your windows xp cd installer and let it proceed till it reach windows xp setup screen. Press Enter to enter setup, choose to install in the same partition as your windows are (default are C: but some computer may vary) then choose leave all files intact.
It should install windows without formatting and possibly won't lose much data...
Hope this helps...

Sorry I've miss that Synergy do work on Linux. Thanks for telling.
Anyway I've tried to use Synergy on Ubuntu too (for testing) and it work just fine except that I used UNR to test this so it get really slow.
Tell me your Ubuntu and windows version and basic specs so I can checked whether it does have something that may conflict with synergy
For windows, download Speccy from piriform.com and post it here...
Try to use shift + delete to delete those files. It entirely delete files without trashing it into recycle bin...
If that's not working, try third-party software to delete those. Malwarebytes have an extra tools to delete files so use it. Also you might want to check your external for virus because it might be virus dwelling in your external while replicating themselves in there...
It can actually. You need to disable it first with from the post above and reboot, only then you may delete it.
Try using force delete if you still can't delete it after disable pagefile in windows.

Not enough information here... Need more details please...
Is it an external or normal HDD?
What kind of files and folder you want to delete?
@crunchie sorry if I'm being rude and all
truthfully, I did almost miss the link given by you. It was like a signature at first glance... If this also happen to the poster as well, might as well reminding him. sadly I don't want to write that detailed from the link so I just give first clue for virus infection and proceed if it do happen.
Sorry again for being rude..
Are you using old pendrive or new one (about 2 month or so)?
Might be your pendrive is already dead and you'll need replacement for a new one...
Most pendrive will be out of commission anyway. There's a lot of pendrive you can buy at very low price...
Uhm... don't want to be rude but...
Are you asking for help or you asking for someone you can help?
explorer.exe is an essential part of windows which let you use taskbar, start menu and multiple windows.
If you try to end it's process, all the display will be gone except wallpaper temporarily and will restarted in few seconds later. Sometimes you may even need to restart your computer to let it work back...
Can you tell me what is the problem you're having when you want to end explorer.exe?
It is a program. I've seen it before on my friends computer a while ago. He'd installed it along with a software but he forgot to uncheck it. It should be on the program list but if it's not, try to reinstall the toolbar and uninstall it back...
Some of mywebsearch toolbar also carry malware so watch out when handling those programs...
1914 okay see you
