If we were to rule out the engineering... yes, IE does have the addons...
I know engineering was a huge sector so just mentioning engineering only won't go anywhere, he need to be more specific about it.

Anyone can post content of .bat files that was used to trick people or to do some useful command like shutdown batch files and stuff for example below
%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 60 -c "One minute to shut down... Please close all programs before time out."
p/s: not a link to .bat files, just the full content of the batch files
...you started to worry about your computer health over your own health

Maybe the boot.ini file got affected.
Go to partition where your windows OS are installed (within ubuntu) and you should see a file with name 'Boot.ini'. Open it and post it's content here.
Instructions for notebooks:
1. Disconnect all external devices you have.
2. Unplug the power adapter from the notebook.
3. Remove the battery from the notebook (if possible).
4. Press the power button and hold it for at least 15 seconds.
5. Reconnect the power adapter.
Do not yet reconnect the external devices, they should stay disconnected. Do not yet reseat the battery.
6. Switch your computer on and test if it boots normally and watch if the power LED lights up.
7. If the power LED still does not lights up, continue with the next steps.
8. Disconnect the power adapter from the notebook.
9. Press the power button and hold it for at least 15 seconds.
10. Reseat the battery. Do not reconnect the power adapter.
11. Switch your computer on and test if it boots normally.
Instead of 15seconds. Try holding the power button for 1 minutes at least.
And try it for both without adapter once and without battery once...
For XP - go to Security Center and select Automatic Updates icon, check the box for "Turn off Microsoft Updates"
simple question, simple answer... yes!
@jingda
apparently blackcathacker doesn't know the meaning of dongle but gotten carried away... sorry
@parameswaran
are you still gonna reply?
If you haven't notice. Opening new tab in google chrome also took some free space with a new process in RAM as well unlike Firefox or Opera.
Open up multiple tabs and check your Task Manager, then you can see how many process chrome is running...
Basically if older computer that have maybe 1GB RAM or lower, might as well stay away from Google Chrome...
Like I said.
Quit having a boring computer, quit having to go get a tutor. :\
please don't start another pointless argument here... this thread was for netbook so if you do not have one, I'm asking you to not posting something that against netbook usage here and please refer to the thread title what it is about. You can't just barged in and tell something that is discussed isn't good and use others instead.
I hate to give down vote but others do so please behave...
Maybe you just meant different answer on some thread like answering Apple for Orange question.
True that even OP doesn't even give specific details of his problem which makes us keep circling around so much. Sometimes too short to even understand what OP wants.
Redirecting to first OP post for the problem (back to original topic)
@parameswaran can you make more clear what you're trying to say. It doesn't have to be too simple (which turn us over before). We can understand tech so give more detail about it.
The links provided by flagstar is correct but most senior posters helping out in the IT Professionals Lounge will just down rep you and give comments that are not helpful to you. What they think is that students should pay more attention in class and not go to forums to ask for help about their project. So best not to post there. The networking forum should be the place you are looking for. Posters are willing to help you unless you have what in mind what to do.
The project title is the thing you must choose yourself. And halfway through the project you have problem, we can help you. So the decisions is yours. After that, we might be able to help you along the way by giving hints on what to do next or what to take note for your project. All the best!
Tip: It depends on what amount of effort you want to put it. Big projects may be better but it will not be easy. Know what you are capable of and work hard and success is yours.
Didn't know they'll down rep of someone who asking for help... I usually just hanging around in this forum so pretty much I don't know how members in different forum act. Glad you give a warning (especially me)...
Apple is seconded after Windows?
Sorry but in my country, Mac OS X were the least one to expand/mentioned with Ubuntu (linux distro) seconded after Windows as well.
Distribution of Mac software were hardly done anyway in most part of Asia (except portable Apple product like iPad, iPhone etc.) because Windows control the majority there. So it was like comparing either XP or Seven only instead of comparing OS's.
Linux were also in same condition as Mac but not worst than Mac. Why? Because it was freely distributed and most people here loves free over paid ones but they tend to choose the easiest one to use for years like XP...
I can't say I like or hate Windows because at the same time I also use Linux but i've never touch Mac so far...
I guess i was a but too rash just now. But seriously his post makes no sense.
" I dont think that Both google and chrome are same. they are different "
What? This is a forum that discuss about web browsers, google chrome is a web browser what is google and chrome? It just do not make any sense!
It does make sense though
To explain it to you, he means google and google chrome is different altogether although they have same GOOGLE name.
To newbie/beginner internet user:-
Google is mostly affiliated to search provider from what people always use to search
Chrome however is a browser like IE and Firefox, thus not the same as Google (web search)
But to us, Google and Google Chrome is the same (Google provide web search and also a decent browser) because Google also included in Chrome...
Next time try to view as a newbie first before attacking them. Not all people know about computer and stuff...
Hi and welcome to Daniweb...
Sorry but this forum isn't specific for your request... You can create new thread here instead

or here if your networking is related to web development and stuff

All the time when I feel like it.
Are taking a nap a pain?
Maybe there's a bloated IC's on your motherboard (capacitor with a + mark on top of it). That could very much explain it.
To check it, simply just look through every IC you can find on your motherboard and check it's condition on top of it. If it was bloated (expanded to outside) then it's very much your motherboard may need a new replacement.

When doing something like updating bios/firmware always has risk so implement that they'll not responsible in case anything's got wrong with your computer afterwards. I have to say that might be the solution for you but I never try to update firmware for SSD before so I can't give correct step-by-step instruction to guide you. Use the release guide to help you out
Also check the firmware version of your SSD before updating. Wrong moves could cost you a no-warranty SSD. It's not hard to do it but you have to be careful when doing it... Good luck

Now I remember why ads won't show up on my browser (like Jingda point above)... I used adblock to block unnecessary ads to speed up browsing speed.
Sorry but even if ads were official/legal like Daniweb ads, I would just ignore it and won't even try to hover my cursor on it. Some ads would expand when mouse cursor hover on it thus making browsing a bit annoy...
Ads were yesterday!
If you don't have enough experience in handling such task (moreover if it was neatly soldered), just send it to local repair shop and they'll do it for you.
You don't want to mess up more than it would have right now...
Do you want to point out meaning of killer or point at DaniWeb ads?
mine show nothing...

Which model of netbook do you use and which processor is installed?
Mine was built 3-4 years ago of eeepc model with Atom N945 which really slow for multitasking even when I upgraded it to 2GB
Newer model have better processor inside and can even run full HD movies without any problem...
That would be troublesome. Normally reinstalling would occur after reboot or invoke 'Scan for hardware changes' but reinstall automatically after uninstall?? Never heard of it...
Try do it in safe mode. That way it won't automatically update your audio driver. But first download the latest audio driver for your laptop and make sure it's the correct driver before rebooting and boot into safe mode.

strange...
there should be just one or two only.
perhaps try uninstall all of it and reinstall back
470
lol
:'(how can i download window 7 drivers
you need to describe your computer specs for that and...
PLEASE POST IN YOUR OWN THREAD so your problem won't mix with other posters problem...
Silly question...
Are you even experience in taking apart laptop components and check each of it manually? Laptop hardware are so much different from desktop so better NOT do it if you don't know what you're doing...
what about testing the PSU with the faulty computers? did it work normally??
474
a song?? coincidence??
Hi and welcome to daniWeb.
Can you explain your problem in a more bit detail like 'how many computers you were using?', 'when's the last time it worked before it fail?' etc.
So that we can attend to your problem easier...
Linux is open-source OS which support almost every type of system or partition that Windows can't so using Linux as server is very much recommended.
Yep.
Thanks but what's the relation between the name of a file and whether it's corrupted or not?
When you try to play/change name/whatsoever but didn't work out as it should be, it's the sign of corrupted files.
If it does, sorry I don't know how to actually repair your corrupted files...
Maybe (just maybe) you didn't reseated the heatsink properly... That could be the reason it shut down by itself. Normally when a computer shutting down by itself, most of the time it was overheat problem or insufficient power from PSU (power supply unit).
If reseating the heatsink fan doesn't work, if you have another working computer at your place, salvage it's power supply unit and test it on the faulty computer.
Please go back into the original topic guys... Both of you are straying from original discussion here...
weird.
here adapter refer to power adapter for laptop charging and stuff...
478 you're not alone
