the WinXP installation is fine because i have been using the same hardware/software for around 3 months max with no errors.

think as you may,but windows updates of late have been causing a log of problems with drivers and causing driver conflicts .hope you sort it out so you can get your projects done .good luck

ok i have the most recent BIOS update 29 December 2007, drivers... I shall look into that

usually booting the winxp cd and going to repair option and type in "chkdsk /r" with out the " will fix the driver conflict .

more info please ,motherboard make and model number might help people help you with your question .

yeah ,sounds like you lost the drivers for the sound card/controller in the computer .if you have onboard sound device you should find drivers on disk that came with the computers motherboard .
if you have no disk you can get a program called Everest to tell you what sound drivers you need .install Eversest and look in the multimedia section.

if it is a Portable by. Ko(o ,then maybe its not installed, if so then it won't show up in add and remove and doesn't need to be uninstall just deleted ,portable programs don't install , they are meant to be used from a thumb drive or what ever .i have some portable aps and they just run from the exe icon you have somewhere on the computer .
when you click on the Portable by. Ko,in open with dose it open the file with photoshop .

ok,so you bought a new motherboard ,install in your computer that the copy of xp you installed belonged to correct .so this is not the first time that this copy of xp has been activated ,correct ,you will need to call Microsoft tech support to help activate it .

Seems to me it would be either defective or you need to double check all your connection to the lcd .
usually when you can see the desktop but its dark its a problem with the back light

i just un-installed NET Framework 2.0,sp1 and computer is still working .

actuall i will need to reinstall it to stop getting a net framework 2.0 security update that will not install ,so i guess it best left alone .

so the new build you are connected ,wired to a wireless router ,correct .
the new build is it onboard nic or pci nic card .if onboard nic ,have you tried disabling that and using a pci nic card.or vice versa

Happy to defer to the bloke who does this stuff every day! You are correct, caper, re SATA driver and recovery console.... I did just now check though, and when it is loading from a cd [eg, XP installation cd] it does ask for the driver but then moves happily on. Annoying, cos when I used Recovery Console from cd to play once, I believed it, hit F6 and so on... sigh. I have it now [RC] on a hd so no quibble there.

yeah the f6 option is there when ever you boot to the disk ,as you now know, you only hit it to for a new install of winxp

I cant imagine,the weight indicator machine would have to be programed to print to file or something like that .

maybe you should have check with his ISP first to see if problem was on there end.

This is not on the internet. It is happening in My Computer. No web browser is running.

I know ,i was making reference to a complaint some people have about missing icons in ie favorites . ,if you open your ie favorites you will see all different icons for each web page ,if you go into your temp internet folder in your user acct and empty it you will loose all those icons because you deleted it from the temp internet folder .

so a windows update caused this ,i to noticed this on my computer when it happened ,bugged me but doesn't affect me as much as it does you ,sorry i have no answer as to why you cant change the icons i,I don't even get a option to change my file icons just folder icons .and they will change and stay to what i use .maybe your shell32.dll is corrupt .

the lite only indicate that something is making an attempt to access the drive ,it has been on all a long ,like i said ,the drive is bad ,in my opinion ,you will need to try a new or good used one to find out for sure though .

Hi there, I have exactly the same problem and cannot work out what is wrong.

so you changed to a new motherboard ,did you install chipset drivers and usb drivers for the new board

The mouse is fine, just the keyboard won't work once Windows starts.

so you can get around in windows with the mouse but the keyboard will not function correct .

I have tried 3 PS2 and a USB Keyboard but still nothing???

Yea, its something wrong with the HD, i cant seem to do anything with it. Ive gotten ahold of a windows cd, it freezes during the setup at some point every time and wont continue. It always freezes once the HD turns on. .

I have only been fixing computer for about 10 yrs now so i could be wrong but i think the harddrive turns on as soon as you turn on the power to the computer ,at no point in the setup dose it turn on the harddrive ,almost sound to me like its either a dead hdd or you are having a overheating problem with your processor ,or you do really have a bad power supply, really BAD!!!!.

by broken do you mean cracked ,or just broken not working nothing showing on it ,anyway sounds like the backlite or inverter might be the problem .is the new one brand new or a working secondhand one .from somewhere like e-bay .feel free to explain the problem with the old one a little more .

no,its either a bad fan or a bad power supply,and /or non-working motherboard, .no power going to fan .not the actual CPU

It can be done, but it is not so magical. The trick is to remove everything with the same relative pan position as the vocal's pan position in the stereo program. It has the following drawbacks:

WoW ! I find it hard to believe you cant figure out you own problem of getting the audio from the .flv file you have ,not picking on you, but really, if you know all this you should be able to recored the music from the video

1. How do I route the audio to the sound recorder?

2. How do I keep the two processes from interrupting each other and stopping the film from playing, putting gaps in the recording?

if you have a mic ,put it near the speaker to record it when playing the taste less video .

sound like dead drive to me .dead ,dead ,no longer working, they do die ,like the engine in you car !or the light in the ceiling!!!
you should not need to install sata drivers to run the recovery console on a installed working harddrive !

I would say the crash from the buggy software ate the disk format.

Hard to help with a serious problem like this when you have no windows cd.
do you by chance happen to have onboard video or a older PCI video card ,not a PCI-E card just old pci one to try .it sounds more like a bad harddrive to me or just corrupt winxp install .

with the windows cd in the disk drive go to start /run , type in "sfc /scannow " with out the "" and there is a space between c and / .
this is system file checker ,it will replace missing or corrupt windows system files ,might help with the problem .
if that don't help with the winxp cd in the drive reboot windows to the cd and go to recovery console ,go "R" for repair and type in "chkdsk /r" again with out the " you may have to go into the bios to change the boot order to cdrom as first boot.

ok,assuming you are using a winxp pro disk ,it might be that it cant copy said files because the disk is dirty ,take out the disk and clean it and replace disk and hit try again or similar option

I have too many files to use thumbnail view. I would be madly scrolling to find the files I need. It is hard to select multiple files when you have to scroll.

highlite first one and hold down the shift key as you scroll and then click on the last one in the group you want to select

in above post i meant when you clear you temporary internet files ,not you favorites!

also we try to help for free ,so don't bite the hand that feeds you ! Paid help might be you answer ,but it will cost you a lot more than the suggestions we make ,and most places you take it to get fix will only have the same suggestions as us !

in post #10 it shows you are using windows pictures and fax viewer as the default for opening the .jpg files ,has this always been the program you used to open said file type .or did you use another program and maybe uninstall that program recently .

Fix= backup and format and reload ,or figure out what program/windows update YOU, installed that caused the change.
you problem is caused by something you done ,you may not have realized the final outcome .actually post #10's attachment shows 3 or 4 different icons ,no i'm not sure how you are going to fix this but its something like when you clear you Favorites in IE and lose all the icones from that web page to a default .
