I did an overhaul on my computer and saved my documents on to a disk because I just sent my jump drive through the washer machine.

Thinking my documents would be fine I restored the computer deleting everything on it.

To my surprise all my documents were still there. A couple weeks later I go to open my pictures to grab a picture and it gives me an error message I've seen before, only in a folder that I didn't need as much as My Pictures.

"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Pictures is not accessible

Access is Denied"

So I began researching it and haven't found a damn thing that can help.

So am I up chocolate river without a Popsicle stick and my pictures are gone... or can it be saved?

Please help... I'm desperate.

so why not just use the disk you copied your my documents to .the my documents folder contains the picture folder as well ,as long as you copied it right, and not just the shortcut on the desktop .

Why are the icons in My computer all nearly alike now?

All of them (except the folders) now look like little blue pieces of paper with a very tiny little picture of the icon that used to be there inside.

Im still trying to figure out what file icon you are talking about ,you say in my computer ,do you mean when you open MYComputer ,or just in general, in my computer !anywhere on the hardrive you look .if its what it think, then you may have install a new program that took over as the main program to use to open these file types .instead of maybe a few different programs that once did it ,therefor using many different icons .make sense!

good ,but i hope you didn,t buy the one in the link as i just noticed its the wrong one ,you need one 2 female in with one male out to sound card

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

What i meant was that most new pc builders and a lot of pcs 2-3 years old don't use DDR. it isn't fully obsolete though, b/c servers use it a lot (as u said)

yeah, sure aint no one going to be building new systems with ddr ,also dd3 is so expensive i think most builders like Dell and others . will use boards that are dd2 & 3 compatible ,and will sell them with ddr2 and offer dd3 as a upgrade .

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

are they downloaded from youtube ,looks like something from there, look like they are crappy quality to start with.

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

ddr= obsolete (for most)

not for me ,all my cheap p4 2.8, biostar board takes ,and the one gig i have is good for what i use the computer for .burning dvd's and Internet research

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

0x0000008e relates to hardware compatibility issues. Seeing as your RAM is new that would be the source of the problem. The RAM might not be correct for your system. Check using the Crucial Memory Scanner:
http://crucial.com/systemscanner/loader.aspx?Agree=Yes
This will tell you what RAM your PC can support, check the details with the new RAM that you have bought, if there are any differences between what Crucial say, and the little label on the RAM itself, then it is most likely not compatible. The speed of the RAM does not matter, it is the type of RAM; such as DDR PC3200.

all you need to do is click on the 2 links in first post and see they bought the right ram

different strokes for different folks ! as said in this link the most misunderstood function of windows

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

I did all that, but nothing happens, I am not very sure but I think it could be the hard-disk because I tray and old small hard-disk and it boot up ok with an old version of windows 98. The original disk works in another computer, that is what confuses me, is there something that I can do to be shure that the disk is not good

you could try to hook it as slave with the old drive to see if you can at least see it and its content ,you will need to change the jumpers on it to slave and make sure the jumpers on the old drive are set to master with slave ,that would be a start then we could try to figure out why its not booting
