so you reinstalled windows and it still freezes ,sot it not software ,unless maybe you didn't install all the newest and updated drivers ,so it must be hardwre or dust buildup causing excess heat

if it was a problem with explorer.exe you wouldn't see any icons eithor .so as jingda says it likely just hidden or maybe screen resiolution is set to high

in start, can you right click on the cmd ,and get the option to run as administrator, and then try sfc scnnow

good news ,just found it .
Click the Tools menu,[that blue icon i showed in the image i added to other post ] click Options, and then click the saftey options.
security tab ,
download images .
uncheck the block images and other content in a html email.save and exit

apparently it default set to block images to avoid seeing images you might not like to see .

if you want to use msg in dos command make sure that the both messenger in services is enable..

there is no msg cmd in basic win7

A lot of my emails have images and they all appear as empty boxes with the little red x's. I have turned on my signature and can click on the option in each email to view images, but it would be a lot easier to automatically turn on the images.

ok, i got it, mine works the exact same way .maybe just a new default way of doing it

its a mistake a lot of people make,putting files/backups in the recovery partition,what you do to fix this drive if running out of space is up to you now

i play music on my computer and i use real player,i have also quick time player...i dont know how this hapend ...i try to contact microsoft but my PIDproduct id its not valid,my vist is original not fake..and i dont know why not accept...

the product id thing just doesn't happen by itself,possible virus, possible you had windows reloaded by a computer repair shop that used cracked version of windows . as for wmp ,could be virus releated also

i don't see tools but if you click on the blue box shown in the attached file ,you will see options .then go mail and youll see what is most of what use to be in tools of outlook express, but i don't see turn on images,if you are talking about a signature image then it is there i think , as described in this link .

On a Dell Vosrto running Win 7 and Live Mail, in Live Mail, the ALT brings up the little boxes, but not one for Tools. (Only the 1,2,3, F,H,O,V, & S - no T)
There is no little option to the top right where I can get a dropdown option to show Tools.

the recovery drive is for winxp recovery, correct ,has nothing to do with win7 recovery ,correct .what i don't understands is how can it be getting full,whats on besides the winxp recovery files

i have similar computer .i installed win7 on c:\ ,i know i'll never want to reinstall winxp so i formatted the recovery D:\'deleting all files on it , using disk manager in win7 i made the hdd all one partition

Install Speccy, from http://www.piriform.com/speccy, and run it, it will give you the details about most of the hardware present, and you can find out your soundcard version and make as well from it, then just google the soundcards name with the 'driver' word and the windows version to find results for it.
Else, another way is to download and install the driver update tool from http://www.driverupdate.net/, and it will automatically search for your drivers (even outdated and new ones) for the hardware present

i agree with the suggestion of speccy ,but not the driver search tool ,best way to get driver is from the manufacturers web site ,as drivers don't need to be updated unless you are having a issue and the update will fix issue ,if it aint broke don't fix it

forge what i said about this antivirus program ,i tried it and at no point to give the option to install it to my thumbdrive.

if you have good antivirus program on you computer it should catch the virus when you plug it back to your computer ,if you should get anything on a thumb drive

I ordered the drive from Ebay. It is a refurbished drive.
How do I get a " a retail win7 " disk ? The only way I knew how to get an installation disk, that was the right one for this laptop, was thru Toshiba.

i already said how . borrow one from a friend ,i know this is not always possible as most of our friends also have laptops and don't have a retail copy of windows either . so lets forget that for now and make the one you got from toshiba work

I got me a new used computer from a neighbor in trade, I formatted and put win xp home on it. After getting all my basic setup done, I went in to bios and set all my security like I always do with any of my CPU's. After doing the normal Start up and Bios security, then into Win XP and set user, I went back in to set hard drive lock. Nothing un-common for me. after I rebooted that time, Neither my hard drive nor my CD Rom drive is being detected in the bios and it doesn't even ask for hard drive password. I have reset cmos and everything to no avail. Pleas help...

try another hard drive .old ones are a dime a dozen ,nowadays

that sounds line you are referring to a digital drive [dvd]caddy/ for adding hdd to a dvd drive slot on a laptop ,not what you need in this case ,2 hdd bay laptops don't come with the 2nd hdd caddy unless they came with 2 hdd.you need to contact HP to get the correct caddy . post a link to what caddy you are looking at

the replacement drive,is it new or used .there should only have be one partition on it;
it could be that the recovery disks is looking for file from the recovery partition that would have been on the old drive ,but is not on the new drive .one of the reasons i like using a retail win7 to reload laptops ,plus you don't get all the junk software trials from the original laptop disks

malwarebytes is a great program to have and use on a regular basics
