Are you using a USB or PS/2 keyboard
its a corrupt windows install i think ,most likely cause is virus/trojan .
no a new harddrive is not the answer ,why you upped the resolution on a computer already having problems baffles me!

,unplug tower , open the tower and remove all addin cards like modems and nic card ,sound if any ,if you have unboard video and a addin video card ,remove the card and use the unboard video ,

what have you done to try and get to the bios

Thanks for you input, my intention was just to use the device for storage purposes only, incidentally if I purchased a lower capacity drive say 512GB or 320GB for example would that help further?

i have never see such a large drive in action ,but i see no reason why it wouldn't work as a storage dive ,and as for size it would depend on your need !

if you are just going to use it as a usb storage device it should work ,if you are going to want to boot to it with windows installed on it then it may not work

why are you try a repair ,why not format and reload xp

Open Device Manager and on the VIEW Tab, select the Show hidden devices option.
Go down to non plug and play drivers and see if there is one called TDSSserv and disable it

I am goin to put Avast on this computer instead of AVG. I have updated it also through Microsoft and cleaned out all the old System Restore points.

a google search i find info saying Cap "713x.sys" is releated to a tv card ,do you have one install ,did you deleted software files or drivers belonging to it !

a google search of VGA Device : 1106:3108.01[its a VIA device ] give 3 links ,one to this thread and 2 othes, translation i get that its VIA UniChrome II device ,search that i find its VIA VX700,search that for drivers i find this via site.if it were mine i would try
vx700 single chip solution first,if that didn't work i would try vx700m/m2 and if that dont do im at a loss as to how to find drivers ,oh you could contact Via or sony

no! not to my knowledge ,you would need to install the os from the image
But you can use do it with a bootable linux ,like puppy linux ,burn to a multisession cd\DVD disk,the computer you use it has to have a dvd or cd burner ,everything you do is then burn to the disk on shutdown

hi, i don't have an answer for you but i will say that winxp hibernation is very troublesome option and not worth using ,in my opinion

ok for to find out what the vga device download wcpuid program from this link ,click on the first one, wcpu330.exe 268,491 Byte Win32,http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002374/src/download.html
unzip to a folder ,and run the wcpuid.exe and then you will see a bunch of icons across the top of the program ,mouse over them and click on the one for chipset info and you will see vga device info ,post it here, or search google for its drivers

looks like you already did a recover/repair,f10 ,maybe taking ownership of the folder will help ,

well if it happened after you install sp3 then why are you running spyware tools ,did you try hitting f8 on startup and go to safe mode ,see if you can ,and if you can go to control panel see what happens ,if you can go to add and remove programs and uninstall sp3 . and if that does nothing for you go to antivirus/spyware and other nasties of this forum and read the top stickies and do as suggested .do not post hijackthis log here .

nope ,fastest it takes is 1 gig x 4 ,ddr 400, also knows as pc3200.
it doesent support ddr2 ram acording the msi site.

Greetings, I have just completed an 'upgrade' from Vista to XP. The problem I have is re-establishing the connection to the 'net. PC will not see the modem (siemens Speedstream 6520). It all worked previously with no probs. Connections have been checked. Modem is in sync with outside network. All lights up with exception of Ethernet (pc). Any ideas would be appreciated.

vista to xp would be considered a downgrade , did you install drivers for you network controller device , right click on mycomputer /properties/hardware /device manager and check network devices and make sure the drivers are install ,no yellow !! or red X

i alwasy find and think its actually reccomended that you install winxp ,and the next thing you install is morherboard chipset driver and then vide o,before you do any windows updated .start orver !

not sure about ez-scsi ,i see it when google search for it but kind of privey ,and only seems to be for win95-to 2000,

i have an older scsi drive and adaptc card that i installed in a few computer over the past few years and didn't have any problem install and booting to them ,but i think i might have been doing a dual boot ,used a bootmanager and dual booted it a few times . used this osl2000.

hi, you will need to install the drivers for scsi adapter when install windows ,by hiting f6 when you boot to windows cd. you will need the drives on a floppy disk[there may be other ways ,but windows only see floppy disk i think ],i have a dell workstation with 36gig scsi disk and adaptec pci adapter .

if you lose anythin ,just go to control panel ,add and remove programs ,highlite microsoft office and click on change and chose repair

just thinking if i nolonger need disc 2 why keep it.

i would remove it if you still have the 2003 install disk ,if something happens you could just reinstall/repair office 2003

Hi Guys dont know if im in right place for this as im new here.

i am running xp with all updates and had Office 2000 for years which came on 2 discs. some time ago i installed Office 2003 from 1 disc. the installation removed only 1 of the 2000 discs. can i uninstall the other to free up space or will it be detrimental to 2003 or will i loose data?

not sure really,im still trying to figure out how you know it left one disk behind ,as when you install a programs like office it would not show like disk 1 disk 2 ,what are you referring to and where do you see the remaing disk from 2000

hi, try this go to Start/control panel /region and language ,location, might fix it for you . you might have to put control panel in classic view to find it quickly

NO! ,thats what im trying to tell you .it could be a lot of things besides the video , I have replaced dozens of power supply that will power on but not boot windows fully and show anything on the screen ,I use a power supply tested to check the psu, before i change it !

you could open the tower and unplug cd drives ,remove any pci addin cards if any, remove ram ,and then try and boot.if it make beeps because of missing ram reinstall it ,if you have more than one stick of ram just put one back in and try again .
a power supply going bad can cause it to only half boot up!

hard to help with that ,because it could be anything ,actuall it could be a bad power supply , or ram even ,do the cdroms open ,can you hear the windows sounds if enabled ,do you hear the harddrive running .

hi ,does the computer bootup at all ! if it does what happens ,and how do you know it the video that is causing the problem, if it boots up but has bad graphics ,maybe you just need to install video drivers .
as for getting new GMA 900 graphics processor that would involve changing the motherboard,or PCI conventional video card

If I'm reading it right it seem to be that you want to know if reinstalling it will make it not a counterfeit copy ,my answer is NO! it will always be a counterfeit copy . or if reinstalling it will get rid of the nag screen then my answer is yes

I managed to download the file from another PC and saved to my thumbdrive; but it won't start the installation. Seems like whatever trojan/virus in my laptop is not allowing the mbam-setup.exe from executing. What else can i do?
