sounds like windows is installed on the e:/ partition and all programs are install on c:\ maybe.
go to computer /open the e:\ drive, so it shows the folders/files on it ,using the snipit tool in all programs/accessories ,create a image of the folder, save it to your desktop and then upload it here[click on use advanced editor ,managed attachments, to upload the saved image ] .like this one .

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

giving its a laptop the e:\ partition was likely for the Dell recovery[is for a 3 non dell laptops in my house ] and should not have been used for data storage.
go start click on ,computer ,right click on e:/ try a format from there ,if it does then try disk management

hi, i have never tried it myself ,but just want to say as with anything we do like this on a computer its always recommended to backup ones data anyway .so at worse all you loose is windows and programs if something goes wrong.also just read this todo before the convert .
Completely defrag, and scandisk your machine. Then, open a command prompt (Start->Run, type in "cmd" in the box and hit "Ok"), and then type:CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

im not sure ,if its the latest version try looking in the settings on this screen[see attachment taken from there web site ] for the button you accidentally pushed. if it not a full version ,just a trial ,simply uninstall the program,it should but windows back to defaults ,and if you really want to use it reinstall ,and be care full what you check off ,good luck

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

no only is it possible its recommended.when you install any software it asks where you want to install it to defaults is usually c:\program files ,folder ,so ou just created a programs folder on the 7200 rpm drive and manually direct the install to it when asked where you want to install it ,there is also a registry edit to change the default to the other drive like D:\program file ,just use www.google.com , and you will find all the answers

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

did you format it windows disk management if not try it see if it changes.
if no ,take it back to retailer

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

also you could try checking the ram with memtest86 bootcd

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

do you have a linux live cd to try ,if it works it would ruel out hardware for the most part ,but it runs from the cd and ram ,so it sould be a bad harddrive .

ubuntu linux ,burn it to disk ,and when booting to the disk you will get option to install or run from disk to try it without installing to hdd .

For those other volunteers who would like to help me, I would like to know more something about how to repair this problem.

ok, my opinions sometimes get in my way ,sorry
go to start ,in the search box type in cmd ,when the cmd icon shows up right click on it and choose run as administrator , when the cmd prompt opens type in without the quotes 'sfc /scannow ' note there is a space between the c and the / you may need your win7 dvd [if you have one ]to repair any missing files you may not ,good luck

As I have observed, MSE detects slower than AVG. It seems that MSE blocks files that have virus poorly.

for that to happen you must be running both av's at the same time .

How can the deletion of registry keys affect my pc if the registry keys that are being deleted only are the obsolete ones?

thats my point ,they don't always just remove obsolete ,if they havent yet you have been lucky

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

my post was just my opinion,on the tools you use ,i see them causing problems all the time[ deleting registry entries that they shouldn't ] ,just an opinion
also you should not have 2 anti-virus program monitoring at the same, time if you re'

mse finds all viruses i/we have come across so far , 3 laptops in the house and none have viruses on them

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

my suggestion is to rid you computer of programs like Tune Up utilities and ASC Pro,nothing but trouble and unnecessary in my opinion.
also would switch from avg to Avast or even Microsoft security essentials as lacking as it is .it works great for us

all version will run that setup .but ,if you want to run more than 3.5meg ram you need to run a 64 bit .version pro or ultimate would be my choice ,i have ultimate but i go it free from Microsoft for hosting a win7 release party back in sept 09,wish i had something like your upcoming setup to run it on .
check this like on differences in win7 version and then decide .

just theroy never actually done it ,if you put the drive in your laptop and add windows i386 content,[i386 files would have to on a seperate partition it think to install xp on other partition ]maybe you could then boot the f8 option and chose safe mode with command promp ,and then find you way to what you added and run setup from there.
also ,im wondering if it would be possiable to access i386 file on a thumb drive from the command prompt

hi, i would elimate the switch, just hook the wirelless router to the isp provided modem ,then ,wire it to your fathers computer ,,hook the wire that goes to fathers computer from the modem to the wan port of the wirless router ,then run a cable from wireless router to you dad computer ,you should be fine as long as your dads room isn't to far away ,if the wireless router is latest wireless N type you should be fine ,we hook to ours from about 600 ft across the roard at mothers house from time to time

im on a cable hook up , three wireless laptops ,modem and wireless router is just on the floor behind a chair not hooked to any computer ,we do not pay anything for extra ip address
