Re: There is a daily limit, but a popup error message should show up if you've reached it. I'll investigate that. However, the thread you linked me to only has received votes, no reputation.
Re: Just one question ... it says Legal Size glass 8.5" x 11", but that's letter size ... Legal is 8.5" x 14"?

Re: Not if you click back in your web browser, unfortunately.
Re: I would use the second one. The directory structure seems to be how most modern dynamic sites are doing it nowadays.
Re: I get the whole photo thing, but I guess it's true that human nature is intrigued by people in turmoil. It's why everyone loves bad reality shows, court shows, and I love COPS and prison shows. LOL
Re: > We legally are not allowed to remove users from our database > It is a DaniWeb policy to not remove posts/threads that do not violate our rules, because doing so would break conversations and is unfair to the people who spent their time contributing to the threads, and for …

Re: Yes, this is all directly related to Google PageRank, or PR. PR is determined via a complicated algorithm which apparently highly regards incoming links (or backlinks). The idea is that if a lot of sites link to a particular page, that page must have good content.
Re: Thanks for sharing. I'm going to apply for the beta. I've been in Google betas before, actually, so maybe I'll get lucky again.
Do you think large tag clouds on a page can be considered keyword stuffing? Even if they are valuable to the end-users?
Re: I can't understand why jquery.js is needed on line 17, since it alredy exists on line 1. Additionally, as tinymark stated, just create one document.ready function and put lines 28, 31, 35 and 38 into it. While you're at it, lines 11 and 14 too.
Re: I'm confused by what you mean that you can't browse Web Development. What happens when you click on Web Development in the top navigation menu? What do you mean by 'hanged by firewall'??

Re: Huh? What do you mean? I haven't made any changes to the ICODE tag?? I didn't even know there ever was a problem with the icode tag?
Re: I think that the distinction between what falls under Software Development and what falls under Web Development are "most popular use" cases. There is sooo much crossover nowadays, as the same technologies are being used for both web and non-web based applications, that it's often indistinguishable.
Re: Well they're not entirely separate things because you cannot give reputation without up/downvoting. Basically, you can up or down vote. And then, if you want your vote to affect someone's reputation, it's an "advanced feature" of voting.
Re: We already have a Mobile Development forum and it is not very active at all. I'd like to see some more activity revolving around mobile dev before we would consider adding additional forums to cater to it.
Re: [QUOTE=chriscentrally;1496805]It's called retargeting and this is done through cookies on your website. Retargeting essentially is a service that advertisers use to drive you back to their website. They assume since you actively searched for something, that you are still interested if you left the website and you probably left because …
Re: Mention both keywords on the page. But don't do keyword stuffing, where it is in an unnatural way.
Is there any very rough estimate of how long it would take to recrawl our site, since we just changed around our entire URL structure. We are 301 Redirecting all the old urls to their new homes.

Re: I echo canadafred's opinion on having two separate very niche sites. As long as they link to each other, and you have a handful of backlinks going to each one of them, I can't see the disadvantage.
Re: I think it is most appropriate for sites that don't already have their own elaborate commenting systems or form of UGC, like forums do.
Re: Profile pictures only show when you click the avatar from your member profile. It's your avatar that you need to set (which will replace the question mark).
We have a new URL structure for forums and threads, that hopefully is user friendly and allows you to see where in the website's hierarchy you currently are.
Re: Sorry, I was changing our URL structure. There was a bug with the + signs in C++.
Re: You cannot post your code on a public forum such as DaniWeb, receive help with it, and then request that your code be deleted. The purpose of forums is that your question helps not just you but many more people well into the future, as well. If you don't want …
Re: I would have to definitely say that a Computer Science degree is much more prestigious than an IT degree. I, personally, associate a Comp Sci degree with someone with excellent math skills, logic skills, who is good at theoretical issues, thinking abstractly, and an excellent problem solver. I associate a …
Re: This sometimes used to happen to me on my panther G5. I don't put my monitor to sleep anymore - I just turn off the monitor. This is because my mac is connected to my printer and my windows machine, and this way my win machine always has network access …
Re: What most interests me is what Watson's database is like. I think it's half the battle figuring out what question is being asked. But it's the other half of the battle coming up with a correct answer to an infinite number of questions on an infinite number of topics.
Re: I'm not seeing what you're seeing? It looks correct to me?
Re: Other tech support websites do this. However, it was my decision awhile ago not to specifically point out an individual post as being the "best answer" because, often times, it is the help of multiple people, engaged in a back-and-forth discussion, that brings the solution. Therefore, when a thread is …
Re: Many years ago, keyword density was very important to SEO. Keyword density was having the exact perfect ratio of keywords to the content as a whole. The problem with this was that, over time, spammers employed techniques of keyword stuffing ... essentially, repeating the keywords more times than one would …
Re: Register your .in domain with Google webmaster tools, and there is a section there to geotarget India. The thing is, it shouldn't be necessary because Google has already expressed that country-specific domains such as .in are already targeted to their individual countries. But it can't hurt. It might also help …
Re: Your hosting company doesn't allow you to use php's mail() function? If you can't send mail from your server, you will have to use a third party (paid) service. Try something like ConstantContact.
I've made a change to the way that quote tags are implemented. As you remember: [quote] by itself will always show the full quote [quote=.....] will show/hide the quote, to eliminate redundancy and having to scroll past huge quotes Now, when you are using the quote tags that show/hide the …
So I was thinking all last night and all morning about what exactly the algorithm update that happened on Thursday entailed. Word on the street is that they are targeting content farms, and sites with lower quality information. Content quality is all subjective, of course, as opposed to Google's history …
A new google algorithm was released yesterday which has been targeted at content farms. According to the Google blog, it affects 11% of all search queries on the web, making it one MASSIVE update. We were *significantly* hit, losing about 50% of our traffic we normally get from Google. From …
