It appears the bug that caused file deletion was related to Windows 10 users who had enabled Known Folder Redirection to redirect folders like desktop, documents, pictures, and screenshots from the default location. Microsoft introduced code in its latest update to delete the empty and duplicate known folders, but it appears they weren’t always empty. Microsoft has developed fixes to address a variety of problems related to these folder moves, and these fixes are now being tested with Windows Insiders.

https://www.theverge.com/2018/10/9/17957506/microsoft-windows-10-october-2018-update-data-deletion-fix

The re-release will start with Insider program before being fully released to normal consumers.

https://www.google.com/search?q=smtp+gmail.com+port shows that's one of the ports. But I'd not use that yet. Instead I'd go get any working example from 2018 with a search like https://www.google.com/ then put in this for the search:
vb.net gmail send email "2018"

@dorey, The insider thing is for those that want to be beta testers. I'm encountering folk that don't understand the risks.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Yes that's odd. Why would you want the statistical value to change? Most math gives us the result but you ask how to change the result.

If you want a certain answer, forget math and just set the answer as you wish.

We have paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating,
-Microsoft on its support site for Windows Update.

So if you have already downloaded the latest ISO from the Media Creation Tool and not installed it, DON'T. Wait for a newer version of the ISO.

Thanks for the code dump. This seems to have cleared up that the issue is not how to test at all but that your real issue is you have some site that was made without an API or design document and now you need to do that.

I'd restate your question. Maybe start a discussion with the real question.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Something doesn't jive. That is, how could you develop an API and then not have the API?

Maybe something wasn't told. Such as "I have this website and now I want an Android app but need to create the API and documentation for the programmers." That would explain a great deal.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

My question is why must it be soapui? Testing is usually planned in advance for the project.

I can't guess why you were downvoted at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52684277/is-it-possible-to-test-non-wsdl-soap-server-with-soapui-or-postman Maybe they expect folk to dig into the work?

https://www.soapui.org/ tells me this is not a compete question. Maybe you need a Soapui member on your team?

Your question appears to be: "most efficient, using a dictionary or a list." To answer that you would have to try both and benchmark the results. I hate to write this but here if the report doesn't take more than a minute we rarely rewrite it.

I think this is all up to you. For many topics you can use Google and Google Scholar.

@Claire. How about some source for your claims? I'll share my example for W10 size. I took an old 2006 Dell Inspiron E1505 with dual core 32 bit Intel cpu with 1GB RAM and 120GB SSD. After a clean install there was 100GB free. And that was a stock, didn't change a thing install.

Why would I need a smaller install size? Also, the machine would boot and pull up a web page in 35 seconds from a cold start. Why go back to XP?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Since I don't have the database the only thing that I thought of is if a file is found in lines 2 to 10 that does not exist in your database, what happens?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I do not have this version to test with but some other. But I did have build issues a few years back and after some thinking I tried the CLEAN SOLUTION and the next time it did build. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/ide/building-and-cleaning-projects-and-solutions-in-visual-studio?view=vs-2017 and other articles note this.

Choose Clean Solution to delete any intermediate and output files.

When you copy projects around you could trip over this and will need to use the clean option.

Your reply writes about mouse wheel not accepting changes which isn't my thought about how to constrain values in code.

Maybe you are thinking you need to change what values come from the mouse rather than using the mouse values to change your app values and then test for and constrain the value in your app to fit your needs. In other words, you need to think about this.

That code doesn't look correct to me. I would have expected to read something about PySide.QtGui.QTabBar.tabText(index).
Documentation appears to be at https://srinikom.github.io/pyside-docs/PySide/QtGui/QTabBar.html

This leads me to think you are just beginning to use Pyside which is all well and good but if you are looking for coders you'll have to put up the project requirements and what the pay for the job is.

@Alan.davies. It gets even weirder as I check my old iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 display is 4.7 inches in size with a 16:9 resolution of 1334x750 (326 ppi, minus one row of pixels), so there are PCs with about that pixel count so checking if it's mobile by screen pixel count looks to me a dead end.

My main phone is the Moto G5 Plus and has 1080 x 1920 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~424 ppi density so that's a run of the mill TV or PC today.

Just to check I looked at the site on PC and phone and it was fine. I have to woder if the OP is just spamming.

I don't see much in the way of comments but let's say that x and y are the values that drive the drawing. Given that won't you test that that x and y don't exceed the drawing bonderies before you draw? Something like:

if x>xmax x=xmax ' Test and constrain x, y.
if y>ymax y=ymax

Since you have workplace restrictions, deal with that first. That is, if that insist you work while handcuffed, why do this? Just do it like you have been and get paid more. Yes, I think companies that impede developers deserve to be called out.

Long ago a workplace did this so I zero'd out the IT budget from our projects. In the next year after a lot of complaints from IT and many meetings it was settled. If IT doesn't deliver, we don't pay them. Later we brought in our own PCs and moved farther away from the company IT. Enough on that story.

You may want to practice using the DW editor to put code in proper formatting.

I could be wrong but it sounds like you are asking for code. But let's dive in.

To look at this I read this link: https://wiki.qt.io/Qt_for_Python#What_does_Qt_for_Python_look_like.3F

For item 1 you would craft code to test the tab name then set the object's enable property. Or a flag in the object's handler.

So, is the problem finding the object properties or testing for the condition?

The title of the new employee training module alone was a sign that times have changed. This topic never came up in all my years at any job. Here's the boil down of the course.

I shared this with a friend in HR in Canada and they were mildly shocked. This wasn't my training session but my son at his new job.

Small world. At my brother's office we had a pair of K55's and a K53. Due to use and age the keyboards did give out and I picked up new ones on Amazon.com. I only have this one in my history but it's nearly the same for either k53 or k55. Just find the part number to search on Amazon.

The change out is about 5 minutes and total cost to repair was 15USD. Link:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01823P8EE/ (don't know if this was the k55 or k53.)

I have ordered parts from Asus.com but I'm in the USA and the only complaint I have is the 7 to 10 day delay vs 2 days on Amazon.

PS. I never thought of getting a service manual. I just hit YouTube and searched for Asus K55 Keyboard replacement. There were plenty of videos on how to change it out. Also, must be Asus Canada. How unfriendly....

To add to Reverend Jim's F8, once in a while the F8 or Fkey to cover all PCs seems hard to hit at the right time. So once you know the key to press such as Esc, Del, Fkey or other, here's the old tech trick.

Power off then press and hold the key down. Don't let up. Power up and only let up when you see the PC responded to that keypress.

You won't run into this on many PCs but here we would see it a few times a month with just a few hundred random PCs.

I'll start at https://www.cnet.com/topics/laptops/best-laptops/gaming-laptops/

The razer is not on my list due to heating issues. Yes, you can put it on a cooling pad but my son has one and is not happy about it.
The ROG, Acer are units we either have or seen. Would buy again. Currently on an Acer Predator w/i7 1060 GPU, etc. Very nice, was just at 1,100USD.

Lenovo isn't one I would consider as my y510p showed flickering on some colors due to PWM displays.
The Digital Storm has never been seen here. Pass just because you don't want be be beta testing.

The Dell is for cheap play, and HP burned me on a laptop under warranty so this shouldn't be on the list.

-> My Acer gets a lot of typing and the keytops show no wear at 10 months. My Asus ROG has a spare keyboard when I move it out since I wore down the keys in just 18 months.

How about VBScript? Kind of easy there.

PS. Why the code limitation. IRL, no one does that except homework which you should reveal up front.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Not how I'd go about this. I'd start with known working examples.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Pretty vague but here goes. If I needed a macro to type something, I install a macro app and then create a macro. Since there are dozens of macro apps that's about as far as I can take you.

Past that, most games now have checks and anticheat systems to detect and disable macro systems. All that seems to work now are keyboards that have macro systems. Example: https://www.amazon.com/slp/keyboard-with-macro-keys/gnyyx93vhu2484f

The hello world above doesn't match other hello worlds. I didn't step through your code for reasons since there are working hello worlds for the taking. Use another example from the web and if that fails I worry your nasm setup has issues.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Is this just a Hello World? If so, start with a working model. https://www.devdungeon.com/content/hello-world-nasm-assembler

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

My work is mostly on commercial apps now. No more code goes to professors so if it works, it usually ships. This doesn't mean I'm lazy or won't make a choice about long term support but it also means if we can't tell a difference, then that code is committed and locked down.

We found we had to lock down since a few team members were diving into working areas without a reason other than they thought they could optimize or refactor. For the current group, it's all about the money. We upset those that don't like locked down code that isn't formatted the way they like. In fact we lost a team member that wanted to open closed areas just to beautify the code. Nope, not happening. Working code, tested code, committed and done.

Do take a read of this post: https://www.daniweb.com/community-center/threads/517865/excellent-article-on-the-current-state-of-software

Now we do watch out for piggy or slow areas as well as code that others can't figure out how it works.

First how this happened. The Nissan Leaf from about 2011 to mid 2015 on the SV and SL models included Telematics. Telematics in thse models let the owner use a web site or smart phone app to query battery status, start or stop charging and turn on/off the climate control as well as get performance statistics.

After years of warnings from AT&T that the 2G cellular network was going to shut down, AT&T did the shutdown in January 2017. This caused a lot of troubles in the M2M and Telematics space or business.

Nissan responded by offering a (discounted?) upgrade to 2011 to mid 2015 owners of the models affected. Cost was 200USD at the time.

The bug causes the +12V battery to drain overnight. Testing on my part seems to put this drain to inoperative car status around 8 to 10 hours depending on battery condition.

That's the background of how this bug titled "Nissan Leaf Battery Drain Problem" came to be.

As an early buyer of this upgrade I had it installed in January 2017 and immediately found my car would not start the very next day. I didn't think much of it at the time so I called the dealer and we figured out the +12V had run down so I put a charger on it and got the car back to the dealer. Over the next 4 months the dealer under warranty and no news from Nissan USA or Japan replaced the module a few times …

As to run the same app each time, that is something I needed to deal with years ago. To get more servers or clients going the app I ran dispatches tasks as needed. The app you launch is just the dispatcher, not the final app in memory.
