Re: It would help if you were to provide that spec for your computer, make and model, amount of RAM... Both of your hdds are full, what is remaining is being used for swap space, if you have a insufficient amount of RAM and try to do things that are resource …
Re: Download WipeDrive, it will overwrite the entire drive. I prefer wiping the hdd opposed to reformatting it, reformatting only deletes the file address, so if you have a virus it will still be there lurking.
Re: Did you apply thermal compound between the CPU and the heat sink?
Re: Before going through all of that try downloading Asquared and run it in safe mode, this is important as certain applications aren't running when you are in safe mode. Unless you have something particularly nasty this will usually do the trick.
Re: Does the computer come on and stay on after being turned off for a while? This could be a over heating issue, have you clean out the inside of the case recently?

Re: Open the case and see if you can determine where the noise is coming from, see it's the fan on the CPU. If the bearing/s of the fan is bad it could make this noise The fan speed is controlled by the temp., so playing games which use more resources …
Re: The temp you want to be concerned about is that of the CPU. I don't trust most utilities to read the temps, but Everest Home Edition is one that consistently mirrors what is showing in the BIOS. It also is specific in what temps are being read. Have you tried …

Re: Try clearing the CMOS, if your BIOS is configured to force the faster ultr direct memory access (UDMA) this can happen. If you can get to the recovery console try running chkdsk /r. If you know what the manufacturer of you hdd is you can go to their web site …

Re: Electrostatic discharge is one of the easiest way to kill an IC, it is not in the module, it is in you, but it is also one of the easiest to prevent. The cord from your PSU that plugs into the wall receptacle is grounded, and in turn so is …
Re: Have you ever asked your self why hdds don't come with an OS already installed? When a hdd is installed the OS will look at a couple of things and add what is needed, one of these things are the drivers needed for the motherboard and its chip set Because …
Re: It would help if you would provide us with the make and model of you computer, or the make and model of you motherboard. If you have your user's manual you can look in there to see what the beep codes are.
Re: In order to use dual channel both modules must have the exact same specs. Most people will purchase "dual channel kits" as they are matched pairs and are generally less expensive than purchasing the modules separately.
I'm glad to see that our legal system is unbiased and will treat Paris Hilton just like anyone else, or at least that's what I thought until I heard that they have reduced her jail time by half. I heard that this was based on the over crowding of the …

Re: M$ looks at several items to authenticate your OS, changing the CPU will nullify this. You will need to contact M$ to correct this.
Re: If you want the performance then you are going to have to buy the technology. Here's the long and short of it, it all boils down to the bus speed which is expressed in Band Width. AGP 8X is 2,100 MB/s PCI is 132 MB/s PCI E X16 is 4000 …
Re: The simple answer is it's all about speed, and a large amount of RAM equates to speed with games, but that's only part of the equation.

Re: Hi Jack, and welcome to Dani Web. Two 512MB modules running in dual channel will be faster than one 1GB module. You didn't mention what OS you plan on using, so toward that end let me point out that M$ is suggesting that if you are going to use Vista …
