The biggest proplem I had when i first did this was with the front panel wires and where they plug into the mother board .

try ,right click on mycomputer/properties/device manager ,and if any reference to display and sound are there remove them and reboot computer .

The registry is the hart and sole of your computer ,it stores all information regarding all programs install on your computer and tells windows what to do with each program .
Deleting any thing from the registry cand stop computer from booting or programs from working and no you would not save much space by deleting things in there my registry file is less the 1meg.,,,best to stay OUT!:)

bios sometime called setup,on the first boot screen you should see hit DEL or f2 or f1 to enter ,bios /setup ,but it is not a place for a novice ,so be careful !

did you go int the bios and do a detect hard drive .

with the win98 startup disk if you do a DIR c:\ does it show anything on the drive !!

You may need to go into the BIOS first and chang the boot order so as to have it boot to the cd first ,just look for boot sequence and set it to CDROM,A:\ ,C:\.
then just boot with the cd in the cdrom ,and hit R for repair.

I would try using a 3rd party burning software like Nero and not the windows xp software . .

It says here that it has on screen digital control. when you install did you load drivers .

should be ,righ click on the desktop/properties /settings / here you can adjust the color quality ans screen resaloution /the click on advanced /monitor and adjust the refresh rate .

Maybe,try booting into safe mone ,hitting f8 on bootup ,go into add/remove programs and remove the latest updates .

do a system restore back a few days before the problem started

I'm Thinking ram ,you have 2 sticks of 128 ,try pulling one out and play the game ,if still the same put it back and take out the other one and try the game again

I don't see that as a problem ,more like normal and someday you'll be glad it there so you can hit f2 to getinto the bios and fix something .
Having said that i do believe that if you hit f2 and enter setup ,you might find somewhere to disable the boot test or something like that .

Ok ,i just checked it out on mine.and if you go to mycomputer and right click on the burner icon/properties / recording/ ckeck off allow cd recording on this drive ,should put it back in the list .!!

And it also may need to be formated ,but most are factory formated .If new means new! and not just new to you !:)

if you have a winxp disk put it in and boot to it(you may need to change the boot sequence in the bios to get the cd to boot up) and hit R for repair and type it in there .

Its been my experience that those darn adpters rarely work .Get your self a ps/2 mouse or take the adpter off and plug it into the serial port.,next to floppy drive a mouse is probably the cheapest thng you can buy for a computer .
The Tab key and the arrow keys will help you move from icon to icon and shift+f10 will right click.

You neded to figure out what program is releated to the svchost that using 90% of you cpu ,most likely a virus/trojen of some sort ..One way is to install and run Spybot ,and Ad-aware ,and HijackThis programs .You need to install and update and run ad Aware and Spybot and then run hikack and and scan and copy and post the log file .

I try to select another COM but there in only COM2 and the LTP port. THe ISP is Juno... It was working fine untill my aunt started deleting programs and the software for the modem was one of them

Right click mycomputer /properties /device manager ,does the modem show in there with out and yellow or red ! .If there is any thatms problems .remove it from there and rboot computer and if its plug and play it will pick up and prompt you to install modem .direct it to where you ahve the drivers .floppy or cdrom .

The #1 wire on the cable is the one that is red .It must match with the #1 pin on both the motherboard and the back of the floppy drive they are both marked with a 1..On the floppy drive it should be marked 1 on the green circuit board of the drive ,unlike hard drive and cdroms where the red on the cables always goes to the red wire on the power plug ,floppys can be either way ,so you should look foe the 1 on the circuit board to be sure ..!!

Here is what you do to fix it:

1. Delete your current hosts file. Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc - in that folder you will see your hosts file, right click on it and select delete (if you have a hosts backup file delete it as well).

2. Flush your DNS resolver, start - run and type ipconfig /flushdns

3. Download SpyBot Search & Destroy and update it. Once you install it open the program in advanced mode and select "search for updates" check EVERY box then select "download updates". Once it is done SpyBot should restart itself, then select the "Immunize" icon on the left, under this tab select the "Immunize" button and select the "Install" button for "Block all bad pages silently", then check the box "Lock Hosts file read-only as protection against hijackers". Now scan your pc with SpyBot, select the "Search & Destroy" icon at the top left then select "Check for problems", once is done scanning DELETE EVERYTHING IT FINDS.

4. Download Ad Aware and update it and scan. Once you install it select "Check for updates now" and install the latest reference file. Once that is done select the "Scan now" button and select "Customize", check EVERYTHING there, then select "Clixk here to select drives + folders" and make sure ALL your partitions and drives are selected. Now select "Proceed", then scan your pc and DELETE EVERYTHING IT FINDS.

Me again. I am having a huge problem with a modem.

I installed the drivers and nothing. The computer still says that there is no modem. It is in the modems (under modem properties) and it says that it is in COM 2. I know that that is wrong and I need to get this corrected. Anyone have any ideas?

Remove it from device manager and reinstall ,you should get a prompt to pick where to install it .pick com 3 . and install .

or restart in safe mode and delete it ,usually works for me .
