The motherboard has 2xsata but does not like to have a single hdd on it but wants 2 to raid, but will work with the dvd burner.

you can/should be able to disable raid function in the bios ,if you don't want to use raid

Reformated comp, everything is working so far but i cannot find a means to register my operating system. There is no "register xp" on my start menu, nor is there one in "accesories -> system tools" and when the computer starts and says "click here to register" i click and nothing happens. I have the registation code so this is bugging me. Any help would be peachy.

i have formatted and reloaded 100's of computers ,and install firefox on almost all of them ,and have never seen IE uninstall itself ,is it possible that its still there but not the default browser,not paper weight , if all else fails reinstall windows

last time i used a transfer cable was about 6 yrs ago ,and i know that i had to install the device/software on both computers and open it on both and then i would get a windows explorer like window on both screens and navigate to a destination drive and folder and just a drag and drop type action to transfer the file.

yes I guess I did not understand. That is kinda of crazy especially since its already installed on the pc. I tried safemode and it still came up with the user and password prompt to sign into windows. Ugh I am so frustrated. Thank you for any insight

no!did you try booting the laptop to safe mode[f8 on bootup ] and enter the admin acct and go to users in control panel and remove the password from the user acct
you say the laptop has vista on it how could it possibly burn out a copy win7 .
i think you mean on another computer running win7 correct ,if so it would not be legal to do so and try using it on the laptop ,
if you have win7 on a computer you can created a image of it to use on that computer in the event of a win7 crash .

I think your problem is either the "daa" image of Windows XP you downloaded is bad, or it didn't burn to your CD correctly. I would suggest you burn it again, making sure you burn the CD at a speed no faster than 4X or 6X. Use the slowest speed you can, and you're more likely to get a good, complete burn.

If you have a Windows XP CD that has a good, complete burn, the installation should proceed as follows, and you should never see the DrDOS screen.

* With the WinXP CD in the tray, reboot your computer. During the boot process, If your computer doesn't show a message telling you to "Press Any Key" if you want to boot from the CD (not in those exact words), you'll need to reboot again, ... this time, hit the key that will open the Bios Setup (it will usually the "Esc", "F2", or "Del" key).

*Once you're into the bios setup, find the setting that will allow you to set the computers boot-up sequence (or Boot Order) and make sure you set it so the computer will try to boot from the CD/DVD drive first. that is the location of your system restore ,if you really need to get rid of it ,first i would make sure computer is clean of any viruses and then turn off system restore ,reboot computer nad then turn system restore back on
to turn offsr, right click on mycomputer /properties/system restore

yeah it makes sense but i don't thinks it possible for a wireless router to pick up a wireless signal. you can use most Wireless router as an access point,and run wireless devices from them ,but they have to be wired from the first wireless router .

all you did was remove/replace the hard drive ,correct !so disconnect the power to the hd,and try turning it on ,with out it connected to the harddrive .

hi,see if you can boot to safe mode and uninstall said ,some software.
hit f8 on bootup to boot to safe mode ,or maybe not ,some Dells have f12 for boot options ,if so chose "enter setup "

you problem is not an easy fix ,you need to boot to your vista disk and run the/a repair .

well the problem its that it totally freezes, so i have to do a hard shoot down,

1). PrintScreen - captures the entire screen, but is too big for what I need

2). ALT + PrintScreen - causes menu items to collapse, and just captures the form i'm in....

Hi, my computer recently started freezing when I try to play any game.

I have done system restore etc. and I'm very sure its not software related.

I have windows vista 32-bit
4gb ram
quad core 2.66ghz processor
nvidia 9600gt graphics care

so its not SW maybe HW,did you check to make sure all fans[ the one on the video card for sure ] are working and free of dust ,how old is it

Thank you for your reply. I live in Okinawa, Japan. What I was thinking of doing was getting a new intel motherboard and intel chipset. Also, I was wondering about the power supply, will the present power supply handle an upgraded motherboard and chipset? I've never changed a motherboard before nor chipset. I opened the minitower and measured the size of the motherboard. It is about 9 inches square, but I am going to make sure before I go ordering any thing. I will see if I can find the model number, is that the same as the form number?
What confuses me is when I look up intel's motherboards, do I just get a motherboard and cables. Do you have to order the chipset separate?

no chipsed is built into the board ,and it not likely the psu will be the same ,smoetime back around the time your tower was built the computer had AT power supply and then changed to ATX psu .
just buy a new tower with everything in it !
at psu has 2 main plug that plug into motherboard side by side ,atx has one single 20 pin white plug htat plugs into the mainboard

try hardware monitor program ,its free and trustworthy, i use it all the time .it will show temps of all hardware ,lows and highs ,so check it before you play the 3d game ,write down the max temp on gpu and cpu ,and hard drive ,then play a 3d game ,and after it freezes run HWM again and see if any of the max temps gottin higher

Getting my pc back, the Intel pentium 3 processor was fried. For some reason thought the built in video card also went as I'm using a backup pci video card and installed a 600 Mhz processor. Not sure if I just over worked the 450 Mhz originally installed or the fan being unplugged did it. Rule of thum though is don't over heat your system because it can damage you mothere board or monitor and cost you a dime.

we i live you can buy a used p4 2.5 full tower for what it would cost at most shops to just to diagnose your computer. good luck hope the 600 works good for you ,
and i would say having no fan on the 450 would have caused it to over heat and die .
