, then chack ms config, stop services that are not needed.
Don't know why but Black Viper, and others around the net have advised said not to use msconfig to disable services ,to use services.msc [in run ] or in control panel admin tools
There is always a way. Or two....
1] don't mouse-over them - they are pretty obvious to see. Usually.
2]because they use javascript, disable that in your browser. But you might miss it.
That is about it. Try not to use your pointer as a reading aid, books n newspapers don't have em.... if the mouse-over is very brief they should not respond.
Hello, there are just so many on a page, and i guess i use my mouse wheel a lot to scroll through posts speed reading ..I'm trying the disable java to see if i need it for more important stuff.thanks .oh and i rarely read books and newspapers
for some reason its not detecting your hard drive as being install.open the case and make sure all power and data cables are secured into the hdd, unplug and plug them back in .also make sure the hdd jumpers are set correctly to master .does the hdd show in the bios .
check virus section of this forum . and follow the read ME post at the top of the page first before posting you problem .

Is there any way of stopping the annoying live search pop ups when scrolling over highlighted words in this forum and other forums .thanks
O.k, I got one for ya.... My profile is corupted so I just made a new one quick like and set it up like I had it. I then had to set up outlokk express, but I checked my mail and all my folders and mail are gone... Where does outlook store the mail from my mail server so I can import it into my new profile???
open outlook and go to tools /options /maintenence ,look for store folder click on it and it will show path to the folder where the emails are stored ,by creating the new account you may have overwritten the old email though, not really sure if it does over write them .
spyware/trojan that affects IE and not firefox is most likely cause.try a few spyware scans like spybot search and destroy and Adaware ,both can be found at www.filehippo.com
Hello and welcome to Daniweb, need a little more info ,you replaced the board, what type of harddrive is in the computer SATA or IDE ,

hi,
i like to make a pendrive as a CDROM drive (Read only drive)
is it possible? if yes how to do that ?thanks in advance
weird ,i read it over and over and now i think i know what you mean . [ if not how the heck could it ever be made into a cdrom drive. lol]
i assume you want to make it write protect ,so that nothing else can be copied to it,some have a little switch on them for that !
This is not a selling forum.. no one here is looking to sell graphics cards..
testeeeee aren't we ,you sound like me,sometime ,poster is just looking for advice a good video card to get.i have no idea as i do not play games
Does the above motherboard use an old style ATX power supply or the newer ATX 12v supply with separate 12 volt plug for the processor? I have to bring a replacement to my daughter in Chicago next week.
Thanks.
Sid
Hello, it takes the newer style one
Fact is ,if it died you will never be able to boot to it .there is no reset on a hard drive
probably cause a by a plugin that has stared up on the news papers site ,just a guess
uninstall firefox and reinstall it
Yes it is about downloading plugins ,click it to see if it takes you the plug in page.
http://wings.buffalo.edu/computing/Documentation/win/firefoxplugins_2006.html
did you check the ram!
Unfortunatly the laptop doesn't have a floppy disk drive. I removed the HDD but unfortunatly the connecter is unlike any I have.

LesserCormorant
you will need to find someone or a computer shop to fix your problem ,you need a laptop hdd usb device and then you will need a external floppy or something like that to run the flash software again.its obvious that you are not going to be able to do this yourself and nothing anyone tells you here will fix it !
try the one i listed its free and if it doesn't work ,it won't cost you then you can buy the other maybe ,i have never used it ,i do not buy software ,i just use freeware
remove the battery and if ther are access to a jumper to reset it, leave the batter out for a day or so then install battery then boot should get cmos error, press either F1 or F@ to restore defaults
they said they all ready set the defaults after the flash! what removing the battery going to do,it will not restore the bios before the flash ,the backed up flash is needed for that
those google adds are great ,there are ones on this page on how to reset bios on a toshiba laptop just because of the topic here .
it made the backup internally, so it is stored within the computer.
Regards,
LesserCormorant.
only option that come to mind is to remove hdd and connect it to another computer via a usb device, and copy the backup to a floppy disk [if your laptop has a floppy disk drive] along with the program to run the update.i maybe wrong as i've only ever flashed a PC desktop bios using a floppy disk never from with in windows as some of the newer ones do today ..
I have already been into setup and reset them back to default, unfortunatly it continues as it was before.
Regards,
LesserCormorant
you made a backup of old bios ,where did you copy it too.
1 long 2 short is video error ,found this also .from link below ,check to see what bios you have as beep errors differ for each one .
1 - 2 - 2 DMA failure Bad motherboard
WoW!
go into the setup and set defaults ,
after a bios update the first thing you are suppose to do is go into bios/setup and set default setting ,save settings and then reboot computer
try this free program from the makers of ccleaner ,it will recover file deleted from recycle bin.
http://www.recuva.com/
do you have a regular monitor to hook it to ,to see if it shows bright on that ,could be you laptops lcd back lite is bad,
did you not create a backup of the old bios when install the new one, for time like this ,you would have been prompted to do it when install new one .what was wrong with the laptop that it needed a bios update??
good ,so you are good to use old keyboard then, right !
are you trying to uninstall it from add and remove program in the control panel.
from a goole search .
How do I uninstall the trial from my computer if I decide not to convert the software or I choose to purchase another Microsoft Office 2007 product?
It is not necessary to uninstall the trial if you choose not to convert the software. However, if you choose to purchase another Microsoft Office 2007 suite or program then it is recommended to uninstall the trial software prior to loading the software. To uninstall the trial, you should follow these steps:
1. To open Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Change or Remove Programs.
3. Scroll down until you find Microsoft Office 2007. Please note that there may be nothing in the Change or Remove Programs dialog box that indicates that the program is a trial.
4. Click Microsoft Office 2007 and then click Remove, the program will then run through the uninstall process.
==========
if that doesn't work then make sure you have windows installer ,installed on you computer ,it will be in add and remove programs also ,if not there make sure you have all the latest windows updates to get the installer .
you will need a WinMe disk to do it ,unless Compaq put a recover partition of the harddrive that will rung by hitting f10 or 11 or something like that ,usually you are greeted with a hit f10 to run recovery at startup if there is one .
Short of getting the sp/2 keyboard plug remove and replace on the motherboard ,you are stuck with using a usb keyboard or buying a usb to ps2 adapter . like this one .

hello,i dough if its the battery as it should still show them in the bios default settings ,battery is used to save info when power plug is removed from you computer .i would start with checking the harddrive cables/power plugs, inside the tower, unplug them and plug them back in
You should contact Toshiba ,against forum polices I think to help with bios password , do we really know its yours!!
... and did YOU connect to an external monitor to see what happens as caperjack suggested?
you took the words right out of my mouth.lol
yes they do ,just saying it not as well managed as it once was .,look at all the post that are in the wrong place, and never moved ,hijackthis logs all over the place,
my opinion!
Someone please mark this as solved, I come in thinking I might be able to help but it's solved already :(.
Dani web is not managed as well as it once was ,i don't think you will see all post that are solved, marked as such
I too, find it strange that one of 3 tech's on the island doesn't have his /her own winxp cd install disks. I'am a backyard computer fixer and i have copies of legit xp pro and home, for just the problem you are having .
give the winscofix program a try too ,its safe.
Thanks for your input but it stinks ! All I needed was to be guided in the RIGHT direction and it wasn't to take my computer to a repair shop. I figured it out and fixed it myself !
so why don't you share with us what you did all by yourself, and don't forget you were the one trying to format the computer in safe mode not us !

yeah that isn't working, it may be the keyboard itself, I am recalling that liquid was spilled on it a while back
Liquid will do that .keyboard can be found on E-bay like this one .

ok,try this to see if its conecting go to start run ,type in cmd, then "ping www.google.com" ,,with out the quotes, there is a space between ping and www. hit enter,
this will tell if its connecting ,it will show 4 packets sent and should show 4 received, none lost .
i do use this program to reset all networking settings .very safe to use .

Short of that you could have spyware/trojans causing you problem .i aggree with isp it is most likely your computer
