There are still a few device drivers that are not yet ready for Win7. One of them is for HP printer. The basic driver for my printer works ok, but hp has a much larger program that has not yet been ported.

I have a HP ,psc 1315 all in one and it works , got drive from HP website ,even adds a gadget on the desktop ,and i can choose a size then just drag and drop the file to print on it and away it goes printing the file .kinda like it actually .

Give me some easier ways.

i just install win7 pro,on my compaq v2000 laptop AMD sempron mobile cpu ,768 meg ram -video ram.
seems to work ok,used it only a bit since install ,

what i use computer for is very little actually ,internet and converting a few avi's to dvd format and burning them ,some minor games

couldn't agree more ,local shop[the Source dealer ] in my town sell acer and i always told the guys working there that they suck big time [they were constantly sending them back ,dead out of the box],especially the low end one they sold ,guess what Acer bought EMachine ,now they sell cheapest EMachine models instead of cheap acers ,!

I can download zip files, doc files and any type of file except executable files from any site.

that usually happens for security reason ,someone or something is blocking them from downloading exe file ,my daughter is at university and they block exe. i have to zip things i send her,so maybe something like that going on for you!maybe your isp is blocking the exe's

Hi, as i was not a user of Vista ,I went from winxp to win7 and love it, as for fast i cant say !I will call it quick for me as I'm running it on a p4 2.8 cpu and 1.5 gig ram so it not going to be as fast as it could be ,for me i suppose ,but its quick and useing it is uneventfull ,error wise ,i say go for it ,if your/there computer can handle it .
run the compatibility test to determing what issues one might have with there computer after the install of win7.

yeah,first im still learning all the special features of win7,[never using vista im new to all of them] but i guess its because of the hype of uac,part of uas is the popup you get for upper admin clearance to allow a program to run,like i said im still learning and time is scarce these days

I/we can shrink went cant extend ,and i will assume i will beable to extent the one drive i have partitioned when i format one of the partitions

Reading the question again, one could easily think they were using floppies to do the installation. But, when was the last time you installed a program that came on floppy disk? When was the last time you used a PC that had a floppy in it? You may be correct but I would say 2-98% chance.
But then, of all the time we have disagreed, you have been correct many more than me. Time will tell!!!

i have floppy drive in my computer's ,haven't used it in a bit but do use it when installing drivers for my scsi drive controller in one of my computers ,when installing winxp after i remove some other OS i may have installed .
anyway i based my 50 % on the word "disk" not how many of us have floppy drives .

Whatever command the BIOS uses to launch the OS isn't working, but whatever command the windows CD is using does work. Any idea how to fix this?

did you change boot pirority to the harddrive first in the bios

" A: Drive Error" this is your 3 1/2 floppy that you probably do not have. you need to open your BIOS and disable the floppy, you will have to look for it on the first or second listing (Normally).

i deleted upper and lower filters by accident the other day.a forum said if i deleted them my dvd would work again.but t hts the least of my problem here been scrating my head for dayz.my keyboard have stopped working completely.the keyboard works in bios by after tht nothing.i have tried everything reset bios by removing battery.tried the last known good config.i havent got a xp boot disk or any disk.they only thingi can think of is burn the driversi need onto a cd then load on my pc.but obviously it wont just load.i am using a laptop but was wondering if i could connect it 2 pc but dont know howim trying 2 figure out how i would about fixing this its a ball breaker lol .cheer people

ok, are they usb or ps/2 devices ,if ps/2 then you maybe having an issue with the connection[on the motherboard ] on the back of the computer tower ,maybe try a usb keyboard if it not usb allready ,if it usb device try changing the plug to another usb slot ,and no you cant connect the laptop to the computer to use its keyboard !

Windows 7 will allow you to resize / extend the size of your partition to a certain extent. To utilize this feature, navigate to ""Computer Management"" and select ""Disk Management."" There you will see the current partitions on the installed hard disks; if you right click on any partition you will have the options to ""Extend"" or ""Shrink"" the size.

check post 5 he's says extend is greyed out ,also i have win7 on a 80gig hdd and i can shrink it ,i have a 160gig ,partitioned into 2 equal parts and its greyed out on that two , i can shring but not extend

should i still try the troubleshoot?

nope ,sounds like maybe the card has problems ,not sure why it works in camera still thoug .

are you using a usb keyboard or a ps/2 one ,if usb ,maybe you could try a ps/2 keyboard and see if it works

Thanks, that was the first thing I tried. I thought maybe it was overheating but to no avail. Without being able to boot-up I can't diagnose the problem. I guess it is time for a new machine.

if you have the windows disk you could try booting to and going into the recovery console and doing a "chkdsk /r" at the prompt

Well i have a SD card (sandisk SDHC card 4GBs ) and i use it to take phots with my digital camera.

The SD card worked fine on both pc and camera in the past
But yesterday when i took it out of the camera to load the photos onto my pc, windows gave me the following error : "Please insert a card into drive I"

The card cannot be opened from the pc but in the camera it works fine
Can you please help me find a way to save my photos because i have some really important photos in it.

hi ,sounds like you need to troubleshoot the card reader on the computer ,i would uninstall the reader and reinstall it first ,do this via the device manager .

I unplugged the plugs from the header pins on the motherboard and replaced them using the manual as a guide. I also cleared the CMOS using the jumper on the motherboard as the manual suggested in the troubleshooting guide the problem persists.

no power lite ,indicates a wiring error in my opinion ,does your switch have indivigaul wire for each part ,psw led , and hdd led rest ect ect ,if yes some make sure the + and - are on correct pins.
don't make sence if it starts it should show bios option, is it booting at all or what ,do the fans spin hard drive spin ,cdrom droor open ect ect

hi, i've never seen this on any computer i upgraded to ie8, are u using a lcd monitor ,did you try changing refresh rate up a little in monitor setting in video properties ,,and yes it will revert back to ie6 if you uninstall it

hi, i have issue with this part , you gave no instructions on install windows on the new drive ,a new drive will have to have windows install in your machine ,not come with windows allready installed ,because of chipset/ driver conflicts ,you will just get blue screen of death ,but your info is heading in the right direction .
There is simpler way and no need to buy a new hardrive,download knoppix in my signature ,burn to cd and boot to it ,it runs from the cd, you can then use a large capacity usb thumb drive [you need to right click on the usb drive and mount it ]and copy the file to it

really ,thats not been my experience and i have had my hands on hundreds [motherboard]of them over the years

,install sp3 it may have a fix for the problem ,
in device manager ,how does the sound device show up with or with out any red or yellow ! marks ,you could try uninstalling it there and rebooting comp and reinstalling ,also a system restore back to before sp2 may be your only fix

it sounds like its not reconzing your hard drive ,try going into setup/bios on bootup ,you will need to hit a key to do this it should show on the screen what key to hit to enter setup/bios, in there check to make sure it sees you harddrive ,make sure in the boot section its set to boot to the harddrive first .

f2 is bypassing any bios/setup errors ,hit f1 and run setup/bios ,make sure time and date are correct ,set bios to defaults,save changes and reboot
