Got any beep sequence usually that will tell you what is your problem. Might be a virus problem, try doing a scan with malwarebytes.

Just clarifying, you can't get beyond the login screen right? Problem may be due to a virus. CAn you access the bios and did you hear a beep sequence?

What i said before is that 3rd party apps may bog down the whole system thus making it slow when starting up, not necessary the application must be running.

Possible causes

1) Motherboard faulty
2) battery
3) Virus related
4) Hard disk corrupted or crash

But for point 4, usually the laptop does not start up so i doubt it will be a hard disk failure. Might be a motherboard problem. Try this. There are other good links to, you have to wait for other experts to help you. Good luck

How many memory did you left. I am 14 but from singapore. Different country but same age;)

Try doing a malware scan using malware bytes. Also check whether your anti virus software has detected anything. Have you downloaded any apps recently, if yes try removing them and see whether the login time is faster. Where do you install apps from? If you download applications from the internet and it is slow it may be your browser problem or your internet connenction. Check your internet speed and try changing browser to see whether downloading other softwares take a long time. Post back your findings. Good luck!

Hi dogsbody, nice to see you again. Have you use before the bootcamp application? Go to Applications first. Next go to utilities. Click on bootcamp assistant. See whether can you use bootcamp assistant to remove it. Good luck

AVG has a function ti uninstall it. OR reinstall AVG and use the uninstall function. If that does not work, last option. Drag it to the trash and empty it securely.

Might be a virus problem or not. Follow this link first. I what you mean is startup items and not startup menu. When you reboot you see a few programs startup automatically right? See whether the below link help. You might want to do a malware scan first. Good luck

How long does it usuallt take to shut down the laptop before the problem and after the problem occurs. How long doed it takes to start up? What is your cpu usage? How big is your ram and how many spce have you left.

Is your problem taking too long to shut down? If that is the case a hard disk failure could be imminet. Have you tried doing a virus to scan for virueses?

When you open a word document file does it open with adobe instead of word. If that is the case your default porgram is change you can follow lijdellar advice. If it does not work, uninstall adobe and see whether that solve your problem. Good luck

Do you mean deleting your daniweb account? If that is the case, you can't because daniweb have a system that does not delete account. Judging from the fact of your post above, it seems like you want to delete your daniweb account.

You can't possibly unsubscribe from threads or daniweb email subscription because this is only your first post. So that means you want to delete your daniweb account. Am i right? I am not sure whether the admin will delete your account but this has never happen before. So i doubt it will this time.

This thread is getting a bit out of hand .There is no point in creating a thread that results in a cat fight and down votes. Why don't we just let the moderators team, Crunchie, Jholland and PhilliePhan be in charge of the virus, spyware and other nasties forum. They have more experienced in that area than most of us and know how to handle things well. But that does not mean no mistake, every one will make a mistake sometime. Do we have to downvote each other because we have different opinion of something?? I believe that the trio ( referring to the 3 mods above ) will do just fine without any external assistance.
