You are starting to confuse me. Do you want to share internet or share files. Both are different things. Sharing files like what Kraai said can create a private network so those who have the password can enter the network and within it, you can share files between laptops. Sharing internet is a different thing. It means one computer sharing internet access with another so both computers can access the internet. From the previous posts, you seem to be sharing files not internet. So which do you want?

What other applications are you running at that time when your IE9 start to become slow, if there are other applications, quit all of them and run IE9 only. See whether your browser is still slow, if yes. Try other browser to see whether when using the internet it is slow or not. If they are fast something is wrong with your IE9, you can either delete it or re download it.

CAn you hear them when you use a ear piece if yes then the speaker is spoiled and needed to buy a new one. If you can not hear anything from the ear piece as well it might be a computer issue or the audio port. Make sure all your drivers are up to date, if they are not go and get the lastest updates. second thing make sure the audio port is working well. If yes then the problem is a computer one. Go to your control panel and selet sound and other devices ( Just look for yourself then ). Make sure all the setting there are normal and you can hear sound input and output. You can do a test by confirming this by going to youtube and watch any random video. Turn on the volume and see whether you can hear any sounds from the microphone area. Next do a virus scan to check it might not be a virus related issue.

As lordt have suggested, i will recommend you Team Viewer. It is a great software. And make sure when you are connecting Lan it is secure with a password so other people cannot access and also make sure your firewall is not on. Firewall can block off the connection, disable it for the time being. See whether this helps.

No problem. Just like Bal had said just ring them up and ask them to exchange the modem while they take your old modem to fixed. If they fail to fix it, just keep new modem and ignore them since they fail to solve your problem. If they don't allow it just change a new ISP, and create a lot of ruckus. Good luck

No kraai, mine is a ping test. My total packets are well over 300, 000. The one i mention is when i ping to google.com. What is his option anyway, my option when i ping is sent an unlimited numbers of ping and after a long while when i click stop, i get 70,000 plus packers. Maybe that is why mine i so high.

Hi Kraai, thanks for the advice! I got 2.65mb/s download speed, 0.19mb/s upload speed so I will check it after the engineer has been round!
And Jinga....I got 4 packets sent, 4 receieved, 0 lost, it took 159ms and I pinged with 32 bytes of data! Is that enough information?

Just like Bal said, after Mr Techie arrived and solved your problem, go and do a speed test again. The speed test it will be best to do 3 times, so you can compare all three results. And your upload speed is too slow just like what Kraai had said. Maybe after your problem is solved you might want t0 upgrade your plan, so that your download speed and upload speed will be faster. You must be kidding me! 4 packets send and received. What browser are you using? I receive 70,026 packets and sent 99,066 packets.

Secondly, I hardly doubt is your fault because you have tried every possible solutions if the fault lies with the ISP, maybe you should consider changing it.Just kidding ;)

If you are interested in networking, look for me or go to the networking forum. You will probably see me there all the time. Dude, your download speed is very slow, maybe you should try upgrading it so you can downoad multiple files at a time.

Are you sure there is no security software hindering your connection. some anti virus software may make the internet a bit lag. Turn off your firewall.

Also tell me all these
1) How many packets received per seconds
2) How many packets send per seconds
3) How many data received
4) How many data sent

Use another laptop and access the internet via the ethernet cable. This is to make sure the problem is not with your network but your laptop. Have you try reseting your router. At the back of it there is a reset button. Take a pen and hold down the button for 5 seconds.

1) I need more specific information.
2) How near are you to the modem and router when you find out you cannot access the internet?
3) Reset the modem and router and tell us what happen.
4) Make sure no security softwares are blocking the conenction, some anti virus have a built in feature that allow you to block internet access and internet connection. Made sure all these are turn off and disable your firewall again.
5) Does this problem happen all the time or only some time. And when it happen some time can you take note the day and time it happen. Sometimes when it is during the weekend many people are accessing the internet webpages and the internet may be a bit slow thus causing this problem.

jingda i'm sorry to tell you, i've been doing some recovery work for big instances and i do have 'some' experience with data-requisition and perma-removal. I must've misunderstood the initial post. I thought saj_amo wanted to clean a whole disk. I understand the negative vote you gave me but please don't state things on people you don't know.

If you are using version 10.6.6 or 10.6.7 and running snow leopard. There is no need to degraf your hard drive but if you want you can also do so. It won't harm your mac. Why do you want to improve your mac performance. Is it in terms of speed if that is the cae you can just use a cleaning software to clean up unwanted file or upgrade your ram.

You can just secure erase it. So that the file will be delete securely and no trace will be remain on your hard drive. Nobody use reformat to delete only a file. Like what gerbil and bal had said, they are a better option then reformating your disk.

What you did is correct something is wrong with your preview app. Preview is use to open jpeg files and others, so maybe when you are trying to open a file with preview the file may be corrupted thus damaging the preview app.

1) Do a virus scan. Try using iantivirus download from the internet and do a full scan ( Iantivirus have many types, use the free version and do a full scan.)
2) Second, instead of clicking preview, try to right click it. You will see two options, click on open and see whether it works.
3) Go to any jpeg file and try opening them with preview again. This time when you go to the file, right click them. Click on open with and select preview.

You can also use preview to open any other pdf files, try opening pdf files then.

Try using other anti virus to do a scan again. Sometimes the anti virus software will fail and are often the cause of problem instead of the virus. Do you mean when you click on sometimes it will be very lag and take a long time to respons and sometimes not ( Normal Modem ) and when you start up in safe mode this problem does not happen? What is your ram and how many space you left on your hard disk.

Try using the mouse on other laptop to see whether your mouse has any problem. If yes, its time to change a new mouse if no just plug in your mouse to the laptop you want to use. To use a mouse you need not install anything. Just make sure all your drivers are updated just in case.

Yup, the mac installation disk allow you to reset any password including the admin password. You can try and purchase one from any apple store or any computer shop. You can also borrow one from your friends if they have. Here are the steps you can change the password with the disk.

1) Insert the disk into your macnook and later restart it, when the mac boot up and you see the apple logo hold down the c button. ( Can be found at the apple guide book or apple support website )
2) After you will see a window, choose a language and click next.
3) When you enter ignore everything, go to utilities at the top and you will see reset admin password, click on that and reset your password. After that eject the disk and restart your macbook to see whether it works.

Second thing, if you get the disk lock it up. There was once when i got my macbook pro and my cousin came and stay over at my parent's house ( My house ). When i was out, he took the disk and reset my admin password. When i found out, i quickly change it back and lock up the disk. Better safe keep the disk. If you need any more helo just post. I have problems like this also but rarely, sometimes i can't even log in to daniweb, i have to wait for a while before i can log into daniweb. Is your problem something like this, when you click on post reply to thread, your browser automatically refresh itself but your post is not there. That is what my problem is like, when i want to post something, it will lag, nothing happens for a while suddenly my browser refresh itself and when i see my post is not there. I have to retype it and is very long. TO counter this i will always copy my post before replying to it.

You can reset your password but reformatting your whole macbook or unless you have a master password. If you had a master password you can click on forget login password and reset it. Another admin account can also help you reset it. Capperjack, are you talking about mac login password or others? Login refer to the one when you startup and see a galaxy background with a small window that ask you to select your account and login. YOu can have more than one account

You have two choices either you replace it yourself or have an expert do it for you. having an expert to fix it for you cost a lot and replacing the keyboard is easy, I will suggesting just buy the keyboard suitable your laptop and replace yourself, this way it won't cost a lot.

Maybe after you edit the file, it is no longer recognise thus the computer/ laptop won't allow it to be edit or save. In your case save the file. Maybe the file format is wrong have you try that before?

Sometimes when backing or restoring a file, some files can be corrupted and went you backup to another laptop, you will find that you can't edit it. This only occur rarely. Many accounts can be admin but admin have limited permission also, root user is the highest ranking. It can edit and change the file permission so that even admin can't edit the file. Yup, as what Rik had said it may be a virus problem. Safe your data into a external hard disk if after the virus scan fails. Then do a reformat. Have you download any apps or files from the interent recently. Some applications are harmful and cause your laptop to slow down, what is your CPU usage?

You make yourself admin by using another account that has admin ownership and make your account admin if not we have to try other methods. Currently, who has the rights to edit and save the 2-3 folders and files?

I do not find it helpful for people like Jingda to give me a neg feedback when clearly the exact model number was not quoted anywhere.

I have seen many posts and thread that other posters repeately ask for the laptop model number while the original poster have already posted at the start.
