Ok, i get what you mean now. Follow tje210 steps, make sure your laptop settings is set to receive network and sharing as firewall sometimes can block this purpose.

I agreed with caperjack above. What have your friends be doing with their laptop that cause the problem. Have they downloaded any suspicius files or go to any suspicious web site. Try doing a scan. About the file copy thing i am not too sure follow caperjack advice since he has more experience

You state that there is no internet connection. What do you mean, which computer can't access internet or both. You mean you keep reseting the modem and router. Have you tried using an ethernet cable to connect to your computer. And when you use a cable can you access your internet. Please be more specific about your problem

Yup i agreed with kraai, first both computer have to be on the same network or you can use a cable. Most router have two ports so you can use a cable, but network is even better. Hope this helps

Screen sharing or file sharing. I can teach you how to enable that. First your firewall setting must not be set to block file sharing or other connections.

You mean after you delete the file, it still appears from nowwhere. The files may be download to your conputer without you knowing. Have you done a virus scan and try to remove the file?

You are obviously going to a site that is infecting that file.
Delete the file again and take note of where you are when you get the warning.

I agreed with what crunchie said, the site obviously contains harmful materials and may harm your computer. Follow crunchie advise and next time beware of website that looks suspicious, someimes it may seem that the website is not suspicious but just looking at the URL you can tell from a fake website to a real website. Your menubar is not actually gone, it is just hidden from view, go and unhide it or select it to open again

i agreed with davidchilders, your battery is going to died off soon. How long have you been using the computer and also when you purchase a new battery do not charge your laptop overnight this will shorten the battry life. I try this and kept on charging my laptop overnight, a year later the battery dies and i have to but a new one. Well, i am not sute what your battery looks likes so i can't recommend you any.

Have you tried to use your roommate wireless card? Well maybe you are right, a new network may have cause your wireless to gone berserk, the network may be suspicious and your card might be detecting some problem. That may be your root cause for your problem. Since you say all driver are up to date it can't be your driver that is causing the problem

What do you normal things do you do before this problem occur? The problem may be there for a long time just then it had not surfaced and choose to surfaced now

Try your roomate wireless card. If you use your roommate card and have your radio turn on and your laptop does not freeze that shows that your wireless card have problem, if you use your roommate card but also freeze it had to do with your computer problem. First we have to rule out external problems

Agree with cash1846 above. If you wireless is configured with a WPA password, your internet can't be access by neighbour. Have you try using different wireless card?
