You know I think I got the beef of your question I been playing around with that and drop it in the Windows Folder the batch file and make sure you point inside just the Windows folder let me know the results that should work I had no luck running them on another drive or anywhere else expect in the Windows folder.

Where does the Active Directory know to find the *.bat file found in a user's profile properties Profile tab.

For example when I go into the Microsoft Management console and I'm under a certain OU and open the properties of a user. there are several tabs:
1. Member OF
2. Environment
3. Sessions
etc,...etc..

and under the Profile tab: there is a Logon Script.
In our company there is a batch file for each OU. Where in Active directory do you set the settings so it knows where to look for that particular batch file.

for example if Joe Shmoe has ILOVEU.BAT in his Logon Script that actuall file "ILOVEU.BAT" must physically reside somewhere on a network server nah? Or Does it?

and how does it know where to get it?

I had some problems a few days ago that screwed with my Office 2002. Nothing would work and instead it would prompt to install using Proplus.msi. I used System Restore to get everything back to normal. All Office programs are now working but these prompts to install Office still are popping up all over the place. I can press "Cancel" and continue to use the application but they won't go away. Any ideas? I have lost the CD so I can't reinstall.

Rick, this type of question is one of those that you physically have to see. Are you a Network Admin?

We are having several systems that have the same problem. User X will be able to login to their computer and access the Internet, etc. However, when they try to access a Windows 2003 Server they can't get logged in. We have tried numerous things and the only thing that seems to work is to remove their active directory login and recreate it. This then seems to work for a while but for some of them the problem comes back again.

Anyone else logging in on these computers has full access to everything and can access any of the servers that they have rights to.

It might be your Hard Drive going bad or it can be a faulty power supply and a old hard drive that keeps crashing it that's my two cents.

Sometimes my P.C just turns itself off and starts re-booting. Then a message comes up.

It says: One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency.

Then I have to wait while it does the check.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I have been burning DVD's for some time. Let me correct that. I have been burning "coasters" for some time. The DVD's just pixelate and are distored and skip forward. My brother (who burns successfully) says it is the media. I bought some cheapo disks from SuperMediastore.com. Well today i just bought the same media he has been using today at best buy. TDK, I have been using these for my CD-R's they work great. Anyways I burned a movie (from the original) and it is all pixlated and skipping forward.

My dvd player is quite old though. So i am not sure if that is to blame? But the software i am using now is DVD shrink with NERO 6. Please help. I dont need anymore coasters.

hi guys, my internet works fine but when i go to play games online such as Battlefield 1942, battlefield vietnam, day of defeat, and Counter Strike. They dont work! It wont join a server. Im on a wireless llinksys cable connection with a router and network adapter. My internet has been jumpy lately turnin on and off but its working fine usually. what do i do?

I would contact your ISP man seriously. Also try plugging the ethernet cable in and disable your wireless connection and see what happenes. That's all I can think of as of right now.

Ok here is the deal.

We purchased 25 more OEM keys from newegg.com

All of them have been activated before so they told me "we are going to send you a volume license CD" that I should have got! Well basically install that one CD per PC with one CD key and stick the OEM sticker per machine.

So as for now I guess we are ok going to use one CD KEY for all machines and stick the OEM stickers on each machine with unique serials.

Sounds illegal I know but, they said it's legal and you know what at this point you do the right thing and MS screws you. I see why people still make boot legs copies because of things like this you spend near $10,000 on just the operating system and your screwed spend $0 and your in good hands. Well it is OEM what difference does it make if it's OEM of a boxed CD version?

At work we just did a upgrade on machines and OS’s (approx 300)

They are all using Windows XP Pro and each and everyone has a unique key. (All activated all ready)

Now if I want to take one of those boxes and reformat it, can I use that key that was activated on it and re-use it on other machine? If not how the hell do I deactivate it I am so tired right now google.com has temp failed me.

Just want to take a activated WinXP Pro box and reformat it and put that key on another machine I know this has to be possible but, how?

It happens reinstall the SP1 for IE 6.

Installing a HD is easy make sure one is master and one is set as slave.

Your making this really hard on yourself.

First you can put the image on the 120GB but, it need to be set as the master. The 60GB set it as a slave. Another thing reformat your 60GB completely.

The software I like the best is Drive Image. People say NORTON GHOST I hate that product.

Reformat start fresh let us know how it goes.
