with three drives the only options are raid1+HS, raid0 or raid5 raid0 will be fastest, raid1+HS will be the most redundant

webex or logmein. but if you have the branches connected via p2p vpn, you can simply use RDP or VNC

as a free server I'd recommend Debian. Especially if this is going to be a node in a cluster or an MTA server.

you need a server, or appliance that is capable of network load balancing, whether it's a basic DNS round robin, or something more advanced. you cannot team GPRS connections, teaming is for server level NICs that support it, and link aggregation also requires a switch that would support that.

if you need to monitor the desktop, you will need one type of software. but if you want to monitor the browsing activity, you can either check the IE history, or set up a proxy, and monitor the logs

locate will work only if you use updatedb before that also whereis and which commands are OK basically, most commands are in /sbin and /usr/bin so no need to look for them. if you don't know what command you need, use google.com/linux to look for a certain functionality

are you sure you need a domain? the closest you can get to AD functionality with linux would be by using OpenLDAP, but it is not a trivial task to set it up. anyhow, ftp, http, print, nfs, smb services are not distro dependant, they can run on any distro. …
