Longer way is that you can install xp by replacing the files but not delete the current OS.
OR
install another OS(same on) on the same disk so that it multiboot (dont delete current OS) and copy the ntldr in windows ffrom the one OS to other.

thats right,didnt wana crit but very recently ive been involved on a tread that where gigabyte wasnt one of the most likeable mobo's.so yeah it might be a gigabyte gone bad again

should still be under warranty if you got a graet deal. so take it back to dealer.
if different ide does not work than its probably an internal (inside dvd-rw) problem. ie lens is failing

i have 2 questions:
1-when all was fine before did you usually hear one beep/no beeps when system was powered on??
2-when powered on with the ram is the computer totally dead no sign of nothing?? (not likely)and without ram you get somethin?

sounds like power to me. somewhere theres a power leakage.It wont be your hard drive otherwise lappy would have still come up so data retrieval from hard drive is still possible. you should take your lappy to your local techy

what is the wattage of your power supply?
try a higher wattage psu

maby its just kapoot

so much for a original disk. thats y i just crack

I bought half life that came with two disks.I run the auto popup screen that install a so called steam program.no sign of half life (original disks).after the install a run steam and it says cant find steam.dll.I download file and it says cant find steamUI.dll,I download and install the file aswell but here it still screams cant find file.wots up with that.and why all the fuss if its original disks.any suggestions please.

do you always advice hw upgrades without checking their mobo specs

1st If it speaks of bios corrupted or damaged your best bet will be to buy new mobo

2nd pc-sounds like a dead mobo.

ok Im not an expert But like to give an opinion.
Programing pays good and once you know the drill you in there.is like playing a game (time flies by so quick)its fun, exciting and defnitely pays good. c# is one of the gr8 known languages and defnitely worth making part of your studies if you going that route.
Networking is more physical (meaning running around..blah blah bla...guess you know:) )
