yaeh thats another way of doing it registry repair would have done the same job though. neverthe less a Registry repair is a simple software tool (theres hundreds of them) that will scan your registry with a simple click.

cant say axactly but I usually scan it so four,five times and most of the time it does the trick for me

if i were to switch to service pack 3, would this get rid of all my problems? i mean, when it asks if i want to back up my stuff, should I? i mean is it really necessary?

you can backup format and do a clean install together with sp3.voila
also like I said I made it priority to search your prob and no theres no guarantees but worth giving it a go.this prob is most likely with sp2 so you conclude if its worth the try.If I were you Id give it a go.

Hello, I actuallly have seen this problem before on several Dell Inspirons of this associated series before. This often has to do with one of two different things depending on what kind of flash codes you are getting, but the most common failure reason is improper voltages detected, this means of of three things has happened. First the power adapter could be failing and sending improper voltages this can be tested by going to most smaller computer stores where they are likely to have a comparable adapter to substitue in place of yours and test it. Second it is possible one of the legs on the DC jack could have a broken solder joint or similar problem and you will end up needing a new DC jack (estimated cost of repair $100-200 US). Finally it could be part of the intigrated power distribution system, ie the parts on the motherboard that regulate and convert voltages from one level to another and send it to the various parts, this is a motherboard replacement item and you might as well consider getting a new laptop. The hard drive in the laptop should still be good though and the data can still be retrieved from it.

1)download superantispyware and run a full system scan [If it finds a vundo virus cleans,quarantine it than you may be well on your way for a winner]

2)seems explorer.exe crashes link

Thats what Im thinking PSU or MOBO lets hope its your PSU for expense sake. try another PSU first in your machine you might just find the solution.if you can remember something suspicious that happend when it was working good/previous night you might just find an a hint to what might have caused it.

Well research shows thats a common prob with vista and according to journalists microsoft is well aware of it(whatever)

what you can do in the mean time is to see if you can update your vista OS.

seems this is just another reason why users downgrade back to xp.

I have a quick Q for a supergeek.I know how to create a startup disk but can someone tell me if its possible to install win98 (full install) from a floppy disket.I have a ancient laptop that only has a floppy drive no OS on laptop.if not what steps can I take to install the OS on the laptop

Im not exactly sure bout the pin layout if their vertical or horizontal (cant open youre image eighter) but if it fits it smoothly like all corners being in firmly with no wiggles :icon_rolleyes: than you have a winner.

seems to me this is an very old post however heres a link for people suffering from the same issue. this involves editing your registry(do this at own risk) .only apply it after a virus scan.

without your hubby realising it he did a little mare than just adjusting the monitor.if its not a virus then system restore should do the trick

If you can track down the motherboard suite drivers than youll be able to get the audio included.do a google on the name of the motherboard if you not sure what the name of the audio card is and see if you can track down the suite

have you scan the HDD for viruses?what happens when you uninstall AOL?if its still the same than a virus scan is almost a definite

You should try a registry Repair tool.

Trend is a very great tool to have I always recommend the free DOS application for users thats not suscribed with trend.

Usually viruses/trojans attache theirself on system files and after cleaning/ deleting the viruses youre left with inproper system files.dont worry its not essential Startup files.anyways try RegistryFix after trend those two in combination works almost perfect for me most of the time

You should scan your HDD by slaving it in another machine for any possible viruses etc. also clean out your system to remove the dus t that might be perventing your machine from operating properly.try that and inform me asap

the four beeps is for low battery[silly me], research shows it could be lcd thats bugged but I want to be absolutely sure.So I think I might be able to install a OS.

Good day fellow maties
I have a costomers travelmate 240 whenever I power it on I get no display/or very poor display[its as if youre lookink through through a dark tinted window].Anyways costomer says she got laptop in its current condition.I boot it up by using a normal pc monitor and works perfect.with no OS installed I try installing one then It gives an HD error not connected

when I boot it up with its own lcd it sometimes gives four beeps or other times very dark display.

any suggestions or help greatly appreciated.

I didnt have time to look into your HJT log thoughrouly yet.however try this strong tool in the mean time:
download trend micro's DOS application here (2.1MB) and the two essential pattern files namely lptXXX and sspdaX_XX(X means latest versions)witch you can find at the same site

extract/install the DOS application and the files in a temp folder(all inthe same folder) in the root of local disk,now go into safe mode and run the DOS application
