Try powering the computer with the most minimalist setup. ie. CPU, one RAM stick and a VGA card (if you dont have one onboard). If the computer doesn't work, try cleaning up all the contact areas and make sure all hardware is plugged in tight.

First off, I'd try cleaning the slot. If that doesn't work, you're going to have to contact Dell, as the slot may have to be changed. If the system is still under warranty (and you haven't voided it by installing the new RAM), you can ask Dell to replace the …

Try running chkdsk from the recovery console. I find that chkdsk runs a much more thorough check from there. At the recovery console, type 'chkdsk /r C:'..or whatever drive letter you want to fix. If the boot record is corrupt, type fixboot to repair the boot record.

The Prescott based processors are notorious for overheating. The symptoms you describe are also consistent with over heating. Make sure that all fans in your system are turning rapidly. Also, make sure no vents are obstructed and that there's no dust on the CPU heatsink. Check your BIOS and see …

Well, server hardware is specifically tuned for performance and for being left on for months at a stretch. Also, since the server will be servicing a number of clients, a server's CPU is tuned for multi connections and load balancing. Basically, a server's CPU is more 'equipped' to handle huge …

is that a 230 Volt PSU or 230 Watt PSU? If it's 230 Volts, make sure your wall outlet gives 230 Volts, and not 110 Volts. See if the PSU allows you to change the input voltage. If it's 230 Watts, your PSU is woefully inadequate for your hardware. Get …

If it hangs, then I guess your motherboard doesn't support overclocking. If you really want to overclock, get a good mobo like DFI, MSI, ASUS etc. These boards are good for overclocking. I've overclocked my CPU by 350 MHz, just by increasing the FSB by 37 MHz. It's the MSI …

Or try restoring your computer to a previous known working restore point using System Restore. You may need to re install any apps you installed after this point was created.

Does your ISP provide static or dynamic IP assignment? If it's static, you'll need to enter the settings provided to you in the connection's properties (IP address, gateway, DNS servers etc). If it's dynamic, make sure the appropriate setting is enabled.

For your codec needs, you can try K-Lite Codec Pack. I've been usong it and trust me, it's got all the codecs you'll commonly need (DivX, AC3, Xvid etc). As for your problem, nizzy. Did you try uninstalling WMP10 and then reinstalling it again? This helps at times.

Again, I'd like to state that Norton A/V is one hell of a bloated app. It may be good, but the performance trade-off is unacceptable. You could try other free A/V apps like AVG and Avast! A/V

If you're an nVidia fan, you could go for a GeForce 6600 based card. If however, you don't have any budget constraints, I'd strongly suggest the ASUS EN7800GT Dual Core card.
