east to read ,no effort ,to under stand now for me thats an effort ,so you think the little surfing on the net caused you 1 min freeze on startup .where were you surfing ,program crack sites ,porn sites or p2p downloading ,or were you just surfing news sites or what .please explain

hello .hitting f8 on bootup will bring up a screen with safe mode and other option ,choose the one that says "disable auto start on error report " ,something like that, then hit enter ,next time it craps out you should get BSOD error report screen ,write down the error report and post it here for review .

if you are going to download music from p2p clients then you run the risk of viruses ,best that i know what to do is make sure you have up todate virus software install along with spyware and trojan programs like ,Windows Defender or AVG ant Spyware ,and spybot search and destroy to remove the infections after you click on the infected song to listen to it ,i don't know of any program that will actually tell you if the song is infected before you download it .maybe the p2p program its self ,i use Ares to download must to listen to to see if i like it,delete it ,then go out and buy a cd at the retail store nearest me!Really i do !! some program like Limewire and Ares have filters in them i think .

first let me say i have no idea what Managing Licences choice is ,but just in case the admin thing is right you can go to the computer admin account that was setup when windows was installed by hitting f8 repeatedly on boot and go to safe mode chose admin acct .oh ,i look in my mp 11 's tools and don't see it there either .

Never mind I got the correct patch that I needed..I needed it because my driver was running with 2x burn speed when it should have been running at 16x.. Which was taking me 4 1/2 to rip dvd

have you tried another printer .

maybe you need to remove all addin cards if any like video and network and modems and reinstall them to reseat the connection ,also you need to check all wired connection ,something is shorting out ,make sure a screw or something didn't get between the motherboard and case.

I am using a Gateway lap top with 1 GB ram and Win XP. I am also getting piles of HTML code when I try sending IMs using AOL 10 which I detest anyhow. I have wasted lots of time on this and would reinstall my OS but my disk in NY and I am in Pasadena CA.

I called AOL tech support and they helped me solve my problem in minutes ,i suggest you give them a call ,or ,have you uninstalled and reinstalled aol software .

The Usb card seems to be working i haven't had any issues and so it must be the mainboard thats still faulty.

maybe a drive for the boards usb not install ,did you install mother board drivers from a cd that comes with motherboards .

I have also not been able to connect to AOL 9.1because of AOL will now install the files required for ypu to connect to the service. Click yes to install these files. Click yes to install these files; you may be asked to restart your computer otherwise you will not be able to connect. Yes/No
Been caught in enless loop for two weeks. Using miserable AOL Desktop instead. (10.0)

hello i had this problem with a laptop ,running Vista Basic ,with 512 ram ,had to add more ram to get it to work ,seems 512 is minimum for aol on vista ,and because the laptop has shared ram with video ,it only showed as 434 or so .anyway for me it was more ram .

looks legit ,i assume the NFT after sp4 means not for resale though .

I realisethe solutions offered are the best but ther eis a very simple way to connect two comuters. get a cross over (important cross over) cable ethernet nad plug one end into each computer;

then u wil then be able to see each other via ethernet automaticlly propvided they are both in the same work group ( see the compute properties) then yu shuld be ableto wrk the two computers as thugh theey were one big computers nad each shuld appear in the network; ( the router and non cross over cablesdo the same but enable grater flexibility)

If they do nott hen tyr using the smae loginand password for each cmputer. one oiftheml wil be connecte to internet and yu may hve tot tell the othr that the first one is the ntenet connection.

Well, I erred -- first time in years :)

I have 2 ND3550 drives rather than ND3500 drives. However, I used and installed NEC DVD burners beginning with the ND2200 series (8X). Have never had any problems with burning any type of media (including +R and -R). I'm still using an ND2500 drive and have had no issues with it either.

Was firmware version or update ever mentioned?

Side comment: The NEC/Sony Optiarc burners now available are OK but are not as quiet and reliable as the NEC drives were.

ok,so i guess it goes back to a bad batch of -r dvd's or maybe try different brand of -r's .

video = right click on empty space on your desktop ,go to properties/settings /advanced /adapter .info should be there .

ram= right click on mycomputer icon on the desktop go to properties, info should be there tell me bot CPU and Ram .if you don't have mycomputer icon on the desktop go t oSTART and right click on it there .

what windows os are you using how much ram in computer ,how much video ram do you have ,is video onboard or a addin pci-e or AGP video card .tell me more

Buy a router connect it to your modem which connects to internet, now connect bothe the pcs to the router using ethernet cables.

but wouldn't that just give both computers internet access ,my knowledge of networking is limited ,but i do think that one computer will need 2 nic card ,cable in and out , and the other need one nic card ,cable in for the others out !!. that is if the first computer has high speed internet coming in via a network card and not a usb device .

That drive (NEC 3500) should burn anything you throw at it and it's not picky about brands (I have 2 of them). Still could be a bad batch of DVDs.

? is it a +r only or does it burn both +r's and -r's

i think you mean 478 pin ,the make and model # of the laptop might help better than just the info on the chip

windows defender doesn't eat up much resources ,download ccleaner[just google for it ] and do a hard drive cleaning and a registry cleaning .
and yeah adding another 1gig will help ,even another 512 will help a lot .

3gig p4 512 ram should be good enough to do work at school anyway !

Good morning everyone, Thanks to you people my first build has progressed to the point that it boots and works like a computer.. Next problem.....well it has no sound. this board has on board sound and it is turned on. I do have a location on the board to plug into BUT ther are 2 rows of pins(5 over 5) and I have a plug with 4 female holes but only two wires.
Can anyone supply a pin layout or direct me to a place to find a pin layout?

assuming you mean to plug the wire from the cdrom to the board ,there is no need to do this as the software used to play the sound will take care of it ,you may need to install drivers for the sound .the double row connection is for front panel plug .
check manual .if you don't already have one .

yes a power supply can power up a computer,to make it seem like its working but have issues with the .5v plug and not boot to windows .i see it all the them ,actually have changes 3 [cheap ones $25.00 ]just in the past 3 weeks ,one was running for about a month and when i unplugged it and took it home it would not boot back up until i put a new psu in it ,and it did fail my psu tester .i was taking it home to upgrade the motherboard!!!

base on what you stated in red above, how and where do you see this message in your bios is not coming up on the screen.

my assumption here is that they are hearing the floppy boot seek noise .not a written message

a bad power supply could act like this .
