over my head sorry ! don't know much dos.
thanks for the advice... not sure this will really solve my problem though as I can actually see and use the drives like normal in Windows.
.
im baffled, seems you are worried about nothing ,they work thats all you need to worry about !! enjoy
go into the bios and set to optimized or default bios setting ,save and ,exit reboot computer
They are purple & green. (so, is that ps2?)
yes it is possiable that somthing happened to the connections on the motherboard for both ,you could maybe borrow a usb keyboard and mouse to try ,see if they work ,your cheapest fix maybe to buy a new, usb kb & m
Well yea this is a good case ..... What is the cost of it buddy ..?/ i was wondering to buy this one too....
the price is clearly in the link in the first post
i think you answered your own ???sure it cant hurt ,and i think you will like to have it to help run the new video cards in the future
btw i plan on running 2 high powered SLI graphics cards in the future
edit ==,just clicked on the link to the new case ,i think you just came in to brag and make the rest of us jealous . LOL and its a better deal than this e-bay seller wants .

i was in the process of deleting some files from my hard drive when the system slowed to a crawl and i couldnt restart.
what type of files ,like just data you created yourself ,stuff like pictures ans music or programs/files
I don't know if it's usb or ps2....how can I tell. The monitor & keyboard are plugged in to the back of te computer directly. Does that help?
no it doesn't help as they both plug in the back of the computer ,is the keyboard plug purple and round ,mouse green and round about the diameter of a cigarette or are they both the same ,small rectangle shape about this wide -----
P.S. I did not format the hard drive for reinstallation of windows.
Doing a reinstall that way only replace missing window system file and will do nothing to get rid of viruses .
your welcome ,good luck
time for PRO help ,local computer repair shop sometimes is the best route when you don't have all the necessary tools and knowledge .
how to solve the problem of dumping of physical memory in disk.......if this problem is occuring frequently
more info needed ,are you getting a blue screen error ,if yes the error message in full is need to offer help ,thanks
i used Spinrite many times in years gone by, but last time was 2005 ,one thing i will say its a good program but on large drives it will take days to run full through and may not do what you are looking to do .its a data recovery tool ,will recover data and write 0's to bad sector's so windows doesn't use that sector any more ,
I have a DOS computer with an old parallel printer which broke.
I went to plug in another similar printer but it only had a USB port.
I was wondering if there exists a cable that can go from a 25-pin parallel port in the back of my DOS computer to my USB - b port on the printer.Meanwhile I have been trying to activate the USB port using this webpage:
http://www.bootdisk.com/usb.htmSo far there is no recognition. When I tried I got the same error messages above, or my computer just booted with no changes.
Any help?
- Dan
yes there is an adapter from parallel to USB,,computer store like ,the source/radio shack ,future shop ,most will have one or be able to get you one.

not insult or anything but i read post like this all the time, and frankly to often ,you say !
It said something about "RAW File System." people on help forms don't know all error messages ,please post whole messaged .
also did you google .com "It said something about "RAW File System." and see what it says.
anyway you will find that is will say that there is nothing on the drive ,not formated to any file system not nt or fat ,so something happened to the drive since its 386 days
give this a try ,remember to back up registry before editing just in case ,in regedit go to file and export to back up registry ,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/EN-US/
I may have foolishly turned off the Logitec drivers on startup in an attempt to clean up what was starting up.
Any suggestions?
did you try turning them back on ,
try going to safe mode maybe if keyboard works ,hitting f8 on bootup and turn them back on
try firefox ,you'll love it, actually work all the time for me!
i am would like to install a clean version of windows xp
i boot with the disk
do you mean a floppy disk or a winxp cd.you can install winxp from the cd ,just make sure that the cdrom is the first boot device set in the bios to do so .anyway check this out .
http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread55459.html
this may help im not sure ,but it will not hurt ,make sure to backup registry before editing ,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925196
you use the words[just recently] twice in your post ,did you get the message before install in the ram, also did you go into the bios and set default settings or auto detect cpu settings and reboot and see what happens .
I suggest you get memtest86 and run it over night to check you ram ,
http://www.memtest86.com/ also 2 links below that might help shed some light .

The keyboard & mouse are plugged directly into the back of the computer.
ok that answers one part of the ? are they usb devices or ps/2
Your welcome ,good to see you found a solution !
first one to try would be this one"CHKDSK" with the /f switch added to it ,
thank god,
if it continues, would you recommend running the repair on office?
your welcome and Yes .don't forget to mark the thread as solve as soon as you think its fully solved
Symantec indicates the system is FREE of virus's, and yes the system boots ups , and I can log in running in safe mode without problems
Cheers
so symantics doesn't find all viruses and Trojans and spyware ,so run a few of the programs in the post above
hmmm...maybe thats one of the problem causes. i will upgrade my ram into upper of 512 Mb...
any other suggestion??
you did not answer the question in my last post ,need the answers to the ?
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/spoolsv/ said it was- but the other sources say its legit. Sorry about that! (But that's why I said to wait for others :p)
All the best,
--The Comodore
yeah ,seen that one too ,but they seem to be selling and not offering good free advice
Thank-You for your help. I think I will take to a pro!! A little less stressfull that way!!
Again, Thank-You for your help....
Good decision !

It is asking for the Computer administrator code... So I thought I would need some sort of password that the company put on..
wel lim sorry ,you didn't say in first post that is was looking for a code/password ,just contact admin ,best to take to a pro and have them format and reload winxp for you ! good luck .
but I did some digging and figured Spoolsv.exe (near the top) is something that needs to be fixed. Its some sort of backdoor malware. [
--The Comodore
that spoolsv.exe is in the c:\windows \system32 ,folder so its legit winxp file ,anywhere else on the computer it could be bad .
http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/spoolsv.exe.html
I have reinstalled windows as a frustration end but it's back.
did you format the harddrive to re-install windows.
http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2007-061509-3222-99&tabid=3

please contact the administrator!!! you became the administrator when you bought the laptop! no need to reinstall windows ,to use wireless ,what install disk from the provider you were trying to install .
I tried to delete windows !!!! you cant just delete windows ,you would need to format the harddrive to get rid of windows ,and you would need a winxp cd to reinstall winxp .and some knowledge of computers
Hi,
I have a problem where on initially it appeared that I had no start menu / desktop on Windows XP SP2. Whilst looking which at a number of threads , and performing some invistagation they eventually appeared after 5/10 mins.
The system has symantec AV and is free. New accounts have the same problem.
Help appreciated
Hic Hic ,is that right ! is free ,whats free .
any was enough trying to be funny ,have you tried booting in safe mode and see how it works and maybe running you symantic av .safe mode ,hitting f8 on boot up, chose safe mode .
good lesson for beginners ,i remember doing something like that back with my 486 ,40 meg hdd ,lol
when you move files to make room a drive 1,you are only suppose to move data file that u created or pictures ,movies and music you downloaded ,
not system file and program file .windows don't work that way.
to recover windows system file you will need your winxp disk for this ,anyway go to start /run ,in run tyoe in SFC /SCANNOW , note there is a space between C and / ,this will replace missing and corrupt windows file .as for AOL and Nero you will need to reinstall those .
posters don't see the mark solved message/button that all !
Hey dont mess with this function ... is what i recommend too much experimentation with this command can lead to hard disk crash .... happened to me :( ..!!!
Just let windows do the partitioning !!!
the crash can mean different things to different people ,i've used fdisk for years, even in my early learning years and never crashed a hdd.,wiper out the wrong partition a few times but that about it ,what do mean crashed
Our home has a wireless network set up,
you say you have a wireless network setup ,in order to have this you would have to have a wireless router ,hooked to you inter modem, and the computer with the Wireless-G PCI Adapter with RangeBooster in will be picking up its signal from you wireless router .or wired to the modem and is not using the Wireless-G PCI Adapter with RangeBooster.
wireless route would look something like this .
http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/sys/515166164.html
So can the computer become a router?

its 5:45am and im off to work soon and will not return until 7pm

if the computers not on the Internet then you really don't need the updates as most are security update and you don't need those really !
Google search results ,remember use at you own risk .
http://exuberant.ms11.net/98sesp.html
Right click the desktop, then click "Properties", click:"Screensaver", then towards the bottom, click "Power", you should see all of the options you need in that window, or one of the tabs in that window.
check the date on the post you are replying to !!lol think there gone !
wire the xbox to the wireless router ,not the pc.
that requires the cd
borrow one from a friend!
oh well,
i didn't think there was a difference in any laptop connections ,and the laptop hdd gets the power from the usb when you plug it in
