Supported RAM Speed PC2-3200, PC2-4300, PC2-5300
so if the CM2X1024-6400 in you specs means pc2-6400 then maybe its not compatible

I think a upgrade to Vista would make a difference ,would it not ! I may be wrong!!
all ican say is if you are getting a computer with windows vista ,get 4 gig ram ,and dual core is first generation[old school] amd and intel cpu's
and core 2 duo is second generation [latest cpu's ]intel cpu.
and i do believe that,64 x2 dual core is amd's latest .
just did a quick re-read of all post ,didn't see this ,re boot laptop hitting f8 to go into safe mode and see if it displays ,if yes ,then right click on the desktop /properties /advance and see if you can make changes to display settings
I think it just need a hardware reset somewhere but I can't find it anywhere.
when you find that one please let me know where you found it !
his RAM seems to be working properly. .
how did you determine this ,did you use memtest86 or another ram diagnostic tool .
spybot and ad-aware ,are both recommended as they both have different data base of spyware .one will find what the other doesn't
not positive but i think they point to a ram problem .have you ever downloaded and use memtest86, if not do so now .

also right click on mycomputer ,go to advanced , then in settings of the startup & recovery section ,uncheck ,automatic restart in the system fail section ,this will show a BSOD screen next time it crashes .
not sure if any logs will be kept but you can look for errors by looking here .
type or copy this into Start/Run

go it with win2000,i deleted partition ,created a new one ,then formatted it and reboot computer to the winxp cd and it recognized then ,thanks
hello ,i actually bought 2 different one over the years, latest one was for laptops / or PC .,and yes they do actually work ,well sort of . i have plugged them into many computers and never caused any damage.most time they only tell you what you all ready suspected ,if you have a bad CPU it will show that ,with error code ,manual shows code related to cpu .simple .it only reads the post codes of the bios i think .some motherboards have the 4 led light code on them . i havea laptop with a overheating problem ,but it wont tell me why it over heats ,because it actually boots up.anyway they were a cheap! novelty
not sure if i ever opened a sony viao before ,but i have to say i have never seen a power supply fan that plugged in to the motherboard ,please explain .thanks
how do i get it free
steal it .lol
did you do a google search for it .
Does that work with streaming? You're in WMP - right? So what do you set to save the streamed file? /QUOTE] i don't think this works ,usually you need software to capture streaming video .this one for firefox .will capture video from youtube and other sites

Yeah i have seen that link. But i dont know what to do next.Is this responsible for system freezin?

Can you finish this off for me?
nope sorry i need more than that ,do you actually have a place on the back of the computer to plug a cat45 Internet cable into !
Edit : actually maybe i can ,get everest ,same type of program as adia32 only better ,get it here http://www.filehippo.com/download/9a382eef69349b01526888d513581c92/download/ it will have similar side panel as adia32 to find network card .
Thank you very much for this reply however I should have been a bit more specific.
I administer a 80-100 person network for a large corporation. I cannot use free personal software. What I am requesting is just the code for a simple execution of clearing 3 folders of there contents.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOH ,that's different ,don't know but im sure someone here does .maybe you could look in the section of the forum for coders.think they would teach batch coding in IT admin school .any link to programing section below ,pick one .hope this helps good luck
http://www.daniweb.com/forums/
edit: I think bach files only use dos commands and not sure if there is a dos commad for emptying folders .
edit#2 actualyl just found this dos command site .and it states =del c:\windows\temp\*.* = (* is for wild character(s)) *.* indicates that you would like to delete all files in the c:\windows\temp directory. so it should be possiable i guess .
site will all dos commands .
http://www.computerhope.com/msdos.htm
over my head but maybe not yours .again good luck .
http://www.tnd.com/camosun/elex130/dosbatchtutor1.html
i would think you could just edit/delete the .1 from this line first ,see what happens .
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS.1
[operating systems]
if you are sure the windows.1 is the one you don't choose then all should be ok,and you would then be able to edit out this line .
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS.1="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /FASTDETECT
Hey guys,
I have a question. A few months ago, I was having a problem with my laptop and I ended up starting the process of reinstalling Windows XP over the version that is already on the laptop. I didn't finish the installation, though, and my laptop is fixed and working fine. How do I remove the version of Windows XP that I started to install but never completed? Every time I boot my computer, I have to pick my Windows XP environment from a list that has the other install on it. And I have a "Windows.0" file and a "Windows.1" file that I probably don't need. Can you guys help me reclaim this disk space?
Thanks in advance,
Brian

you couldn't have been copying over or you wouldn't have got a second choice ,anyway right click on mycomputer/properties/advanced/ then settings, in the startup and recovery section here you will see the 2 choices ,you can edit out the one that doesn't work in the boot .ini file ,mke sure you remove the right one.,
some info here .you will know the right one ,its the one you don't pick to get to xp.
don't know batch files but im sure there is a way ,but i use CCleaner just run it and you scan computer and remove what you want plus a lot more junk and temp files .
http://www.ccleaner.com/
god ,is everyone afraid to click on icons ,you needed to click around within that section to find the controller .so i will shorten the search for you ,click on the pci/pnp network ,this will show you what in the box ,then search www.google.com for what it shows ,this should lead to drivers for the device .search like this , "what it shows drivers"
you are not alone i think ,at least one more person and im sure a google search will reveal mor ,Elitegroup tend to have some cheap boards, cheap board =problems ,much like expensive boards lol

Give trojan Hunter a go its fully working 30 day trial ,with updates ,you need to do the updates manually ,i will supply 2 links one for the program and one for the updates ,install the updates before you use the program .

hi yayaymm
awful lot of unnecessary programs ..try stopping them at boot
like this
RUN->msconfig->startuptab
no need to use msconfig ,hijackthis will do the and make a backup so you can restore the program to startup if needed .
So basicaly, I need one hard drive to run my games, and one hard drive to run my regular stuff????
in my opinion Yes!
ok ,in the aida32 program ,go to network in the tree,it should tell you what network casd/device is installed
unless you really need the data/files /programs you download from torrents i suggest removing it and enjoying your custom built machine !
"been there done that "
whoops, they came up fine in the preview.

I received a computer from a friend who just bought a laptop. Its an HP, It worked great for about 2 weeks, and now when i turn it on It was just beeping. I removed one stick of ram and now it doesnt beep anymore but I get no video at all. It doesnt beep like its starting up or anything. Ive tried new video cards, new hard drives, new monitor. Ive even tried a bare bones start up to try and access the bios. STILL NOTHING. Can anyone please help????????????????
did you put ram back in and remove the other stick ,also does it get power to the board ,maybe a little red/green light on the motherboard ,or fans turning is a good indicator of power to the board ..you use the work new,are they new or just new to this computer .
You sound like a Canadian Tire Mechanic ,just swap parts till one makes it work !LOL just kidding
I was thinking about that also, but I have now way to test it. So, I tried installing my XP Pro. disc to see what would happen. My disc installed properly with no errors. I then tried installing the XP Home disc over it; this time I got past the plugin.ocx error, but still got the "CD":\I386\asms In page error.
Thanks.
i hope by over it you mean you did a full format of drive first ,and it still points to a bad or dirty win xp home cd,
That may not work well, and incurs considerable expense for a new OS.
no need to buy new os,as you are allowed to install a new hdd in you computer and use existing win os,same thing !!
USB drives will operate considerably slower, and certainly won't be suitable for games.
they aren't usb devices the one cage goes into a cdrom slot and connects to either ide or sata controller .then you put hdd's in the removal drawers, they have key to loch in ,just swith out one for the other.
If you want to keep the kids out, XP has provided User Accounts for just that purpose.
Use a strong password for your own account, make the kids limited users.
to much work for most adults ,you have to be there all the time ,to install programs for them and stuff like that ,and all other issues that need admin rights!!and the virus/spyware issues are greater for kids than most! adults .anyway that not his issue ,that just tidbit i added .
did you check device manager to see if any errors show in usb controller section .
right click on mycomputer /properties /hardware /device manager .
the file is needed microsoft file .
http://www.file.net/process/atl71.dll.html
you can download and put it in the system32 folder where it should reside, ,i have it there + 10 other places all Nero, but a larger file .
you may have a problem with the windows program mention in the link, and you may need to search for and install the program .
info here .
http://www.google.com/search?q=%22ATL%20Module%20for%20Windows%20(Unicode)%22
I have a old suggestion to ,you buy a new hdd install and load windows on new drive ,and buy 2 hdd caddies ,install drives in the caddies , setup one the way you like and use it for gaming ,.also this is really good for family's with kids ,one drive for the adults one for the kids !

Is it safe to remove old Microsoft XP update files? If so, how should I do it?
Thanks.
The answer is yes !! but why would you want to remove old update files .
i use a program called CCleaner to clean my computer of un-necessary file ,it also has a tools option and in there you can un-install programs on you computer the list also shows window updates you could use it.
find ccleaner here=http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
It shouldn't matter just for an sfc if i was using a Dell disk on an HP, should it?
should not matter ,what matters is that the disk has sp2 on it ,if the computer has winxp home with sp2 installed it will know that look for it on the disk .
did you get the via ac97 drivers i posted above
