i have a question relating to the ie7 favorites menu and quite frnkly i cannot find a create new thread link so here's as good a place as any.

in ie6 if i was surfing through my favorites on my favorites menu, which was quite long, when i wanted to go to the next link for surfing, i clicked on the favorites menu bar link and i was at the same point in the favorites menu.

in ie7, if i am looking at the last 10 favorites on my favorite menu and i navigate to one of those pages, see what i want to see and decide i want to look at the next favorite, when i click on the favorites menu I am back at the top of the favorites menu and must scroll down.

In addition, moving favorites around is a chore. if I add a favorite it is placed at the end of the list. Sometimes i want to move it closer to the top of my favorites for easy reference. In IE6, I can just drag it to the top and the favorites menu will continue to scroll until I get where I want it to go. in IE7 I can only drag the item to the top of the visible list, place it there, then scroll the list down and repeat the procedure.

1. What, if anything, am I doing wrong?
2. Do you have any fixes? or
3. Has Micrsoft made things …

i tried it ,nice program but you will have to buy it ,demo only allows 10 files and doesn't all you to pick the 10 you want to save ,it actually found the thumb drive security file i deleted from the drive when i first bought it ,it found 219 file in total but would not show me what they were ,so even i bought if have no way of know if its going to find the file i cut to see if it would find cutted files.

the board has Via chipset ,via ac97 onboard audio .
this one should make it work .,just unzip it and there is asetup-exe file in the folder .
http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/viaac97-security-dl.html

also you tower is really small and has Utlra -atx board ,so you would be hard pressed to get new updated board for that .
I just had some on at my door last week with the same tower looking for a power supply ,but because of its odd size and outdated computer i told them it would cost to much to replace ,and that i could put all working parts into a used tower i have with regular psu for a lot less .if yo udon't mind me asking how much did the new PSU cost

Opened it up and don"t see a sound card, combination sound/modum card so I must have onboard sound. Does that mean I need a new motherboard?

if it has the combo sound /modem[old] then you need drivers for it .
does the plug from the speakers go into a socked on the combo card or a socket up higher by the mouse /keyboard plugs .
also if the computer is older ,with ME on it then you would need to many new items[motherboard,cpu/cpu fan ,ram/power supply just to name a few ] because of changing technology that it would be cheaper to buy a new tower . open case and see if you can see a model number on the motherboard ,usually between or near the pci slots [white slots ]

Cheers, i treid the chkdsk but on reboot the blue screen pops up before the chkdsk can run.
Is there a way round this?

thats nothing to cheer about.lol ,did you use the winxp cd to run the recover consul to run the repair option and then type in chkdsk /f at the prompt

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

I'm wondering if there is anyway to fix this problem without the Dell restore cd or if there is anyway I can download the cd and burn it onto a disc instead of having to deal with Dell and order a disc. .

i have been successful in install a regular winxp cd , on a dell computers with out dell recovery disk ,had to go to dell to get some drivers after the install .[sound and video]so if there a windows key on the tower ,just borrow winxp pro or home ,what ever the key is for !! if no key you will have to buy a copy of winxp
don't think you'll find Dell recovery cd for download anywhere .

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Its strange lots of people are getting the same problem but no solution?

if its new the fixes aren't instantiations! company have to come up with the fix ! or this is
always, MAC lol

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

try the windows repair ,and do a chkdsk /f
just might be the fix you need !

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

has Anyone Else Had A Problem Like This With Aol ??

yeah ,thousands of people, that why they switched IPS's

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

you say you installed winxp ,then in you description you say with ME,oversite i know ,just checked HP.COM and there are no drivers listed for sound ,found one link that says it has a sound card/not onboard sound ,if the drivers you have don't work you will need to find a name on the sound card to get the right drivers .anyway see if you can follow this!

right click on mycoputer icon, and go to properties /hardware /device manager ,you should see sound device listed lower down in the list ,should be a yellow or red ! because its not loaded right !,go to it and double click whats there ,for properties and choose update drivers ,and direct it to the unzipped folder and it should install the driver if its the right ones

copy the explorer.exe file from someone else and put into urs!!! worked for me.

if the explore.exe is missing or corrupt ,sfc /scannow will copy good one from your winxp cd.

hey thanks for the reply , yeah i tried to google the mobo myself but i could never find really any thing. so i figured i might need to just upgrade the mobo too. so i found some and this is a different question but how is the pentium D ? cause i found a motherboard cpu combo with a pentium D 3.0 dual core 800 fsb that will run me around 165 with shipping and handling . just wondering if its worth the money or should i up the cost to get a better mobo/cpu

if you are going to buy now you might as well buy upto date stuff ,dual core is first generation ,Core 2 Duo is 2nd generation ,the product in the links above would be a way better choice ,even though the older is 3.0 and the new is 2.4,its will work better !

So, is it possible that this card provides no means for using as much potential as its powering options will allow for?

yeah ,i guess so ,im not really knowledgeable when it comes to video cards, as there are just way to much info about them to keep track of ,but yours is powered through the pci-e slot ,maybe there is a way to increase the power from that in the bios ,not sure you would have to check motherboard info for that.

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

lots of power ,the first link works second doesn't ,looks like a small white plug [maybe at the back] ,between the last two capacitors.
Edit : never mind closer looks shows it to just a sticker!lol

the review here sounds ok,albeit not GREATTTT,ok for sure ,maybe just certain games require a little more!!

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

wow, dual core ,4 gig of ram and still risked its all to overclock ,just home much speed do people need!
I guess thats' why you call yourself maverick .lol good luck getting this straightened out .i remember some of my meager attempts at over clocking and something about holding down the Home key and rebooting ,to reset settings, but that was long ago

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

sfc [space] /scannow.the / is need or it will just flash on the screen for a second and not run.for me anyway .

Answer =No.

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Edit ,i just tried a win2000 disk i have and its formating it now ,weird ,i deleted and created a new partition before i formated and tried the xp disk still black screen ,so im formating now with win2000 disk .

hello ,i installed Fedora 8 just to try ,its all right just not for me .install it on a extra tower i have ,i want to go back to winxp, when i boot to xp disk all i get it hit any key to boot to cd ,but after i hit the key ,it say setup is inspection you system !!!! then all i get is black screen with ,is this a Linux issue or just my winxp disk ,any ideas ,thanks

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

doubtfull the battery has anything to do with your issue, unless of course, your power cord is toast, but generally it should never work if thats the case. there could be a million different things causing your problem, so the easiest way to determine the issue, is to back your data up, format the machine. if the issue persists, you're def. looking at a hardware issue of some sort.

i had a older dell once that had a dead battery would hold zero charge ,but had to be in the computer to boot it .

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

did you reinstall the motherboard drivers yet,you should have gottin a disk with the motherboard

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

uh huh yeah thanks thats helpful. I guess ill just go ask on some other forums then.

im sorry to hear that ,but im having a hard time helping someone who know little or nutthing about computer let alone trying to do what you are trying to fix,you really need to do a search for "how to basic computer" and do a few weeks of reading ,learning .then search intemetiate computing! and so and so on!!!!! I suggested you may have a bad ribbon cable and you then want to know what to do ! obvious thing would be to get another ribbon cable and try that .bye bye , .oh by the way i am doing this for FREE.

I am attempting to put the finishing touches on a powerful multimedia and gaming desktop I've put together from bits and pieces I've collected from a variety of sources. Everything seems to have come together nicely, with few exceptions. However, when I am running particularly demanding programs (games, specifically), I often encounter a crash in which the computer, without having an error message of any type, stops sending data to the monitor. The tower is still fully powered, and would appear to be working as expected.

good job!

Having asked a few friends about the situation, some have suggested that the problem may be the power supply. In their opinion, the power supply cannot handle the workload I've placed upon it.

what size psu do you have in it .

Another friend suggested that it may be the video card. I'm currently operating with an NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT. He made this suggestion based on past experience with other video cards. In his experience, video cards commonly have a seperate input for a power supply, whereas this one pulls directly through the motherboard. I disagreed, because I feel it is unlikely for NVIDIA to produce a card with the capabilities of this one without providing a powerful-enough supply of energy to utilize it.

so did you have to plug a connector from the psu to the card when install it .

if this is same card as yours you can see extra plug at the back of the …
