cant read all you posted ,but did you try a system restore back a few days/weeks before the problem ,i have had that type of update a few time myself just recently ,and let it got for over an hr till it was done installing, never interrupt a windows update .

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

There's no way to get it off the internet. The only way you could retrieve a windows key off your computer is if you go into your computer properties or flip the the laptop upside down and there should be a windows key there for you. I'm not sure if that will be the version of windows you're looking for.

poster bought key and downloaded the win7 iso file from the internet ,software for students , there will be no key for it on the bottom of the laptop for it

why not remove the virus before you reinstall ,

I'm currently running a 60GB SSD for the operating system (and FIFA 11!) and use my 1TB secondary drive to store my videos, pictures, and other files (as well as all my applications!)

what version of windows are you using .
it should work without a driver from Toshiba ,windows would use generic driver ,go to device manager and see if its listed, maybe if its listed it has a red x or !,if so right click on and uninstall it ,then reboot computer windows should reinstall driver ,give it a try see what happens ,post back results

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Don't see anything about duel bios in manual .check attachment for pin location

Always turn off your computer and unplug the power cord from the power outlet before clearing the CMOS values.
• After clearing the CMOS values and before turning on your computer, be sure to remove the jumper cap from the jumper. Failure to do so may cause damage to the motherboard.
• After system restart, go to BIOS Setup to load factory defaults (select Load Optimized
Defaults) or manually configure the BIOS settings (refer to Chapter 2, "BIOS Setup," for BIOS configurations).

This nightmare is easy to fix. Go to cnet and download malwarebytes. Do a full system scan (may take up to 30 mins) and it'll detect and remove it with a few clicks of your mouse. Restart and you're done.

I cannot install another browser on this computer. I need to be able to upload files using Internet Explorer 9.

This problem is happening in many different websites.

I did a virus scan on the computer, and no issues were found.

I have tried uploading a very small file less than 25MB and it still did not work.

I used to be able to upload files to all different kinds of websites.

25 meg is a very big .txt file isn't it ,can you tell us what sites you are having problems with what type of file ,if specific types ,, are they file storage sites, torrent sites ,your own sites you are managing perhaps .

that why it is never recommended to use one .

having said that did you try running it again and see if it can reverse the changes ,they sometime do a backup before the changes were made ,if not assuming you are using win7 you could try booting to boot up repair ,and doing a restore back a few days before you ran the program ,see option 2 on this link .

how to use msconfig: first go to start menu and and click on run /or u can use shortcut command winkey+r run prompt will poped up now type msconfig and hit enter , now this is system configuration window , this is very powerfull , now go to tool tab and scroll down and use "system restore " option this will restore ur sustem to an earlier date where it was perfect.

thanks for that ,I never looked closely in the tool section all these yrs i guess ..

just want to say that some trojans/viruses will delete your restore points ,so this will not always work !

I am new here and have a question and not sure where to post it. I found this because I was doing a serch for "AppData/Roming/Microsoft/Windows can't get rid of this tracking cookie what do I do?" I am in a dilemma and don't know what to do. I am not very computer savy. I need to say that up front, now here is my story. I have a new Dell computer only a few months old. I have McAfee and Super Anti- Spyware installed. My computer was makeing a clicking noise so I called customer support for Dell. The tec got on my computer via online and did some checks then said I had spyware and wanted to charge me $199.99 then said he would give me a deal for half. I am on a tight budget and paying off the computer so just can't afford it. So called Mcafee which said no spyware. However, when I run the Super Anti-Spyware it keeps showing the above listed tracking cookies. It prompts me to reboot to get rid of it but they won't go away. So I don't know if I have spyware or not but am afraid to do nothing. Somebody please advise because I don't know what to do! Thanks in advance for any help!!

hi i will redirect you to the great helpers in the viruses and spyware and other nasties ,check out the second read-me post at the top of the page for first time instruction …

Some current trojans are very hard to eliminate because they infect the boot sector of the disc. I have also seen some infect the restore partition libraries, so even if you reinstall the operating system, it will still be infected. This is why I recommend using Linux, and run Windows inside a virtual machine if you must have Windows software.

sound advice but not everyone wants to use linux

So the conclusion is it is neither good or bad to keep it on or turn of often ,right ? lol

the only time i can think it would be good idea to leave computer on 24/7 is in a cold environment, because of something called thermal shock ,that is when the motherboard is very cold from sitting all night and the quick heat up of the cpu can cause the thermal shock to the motherboard, just something i remember reading a bunch of years back

this is not technical terms ,just my opinion based on how i do it and othere in my house ,bought my first computer in 1996,not sure how many different one i have owned over the years ,but never hurt any of them by shutting them down 5 or 6 times a day or by leaving them on for 24/7 for a month or more.

i have been building and fixing computers since 1999,and people i service computer for do it both ways ,and those who leave them on all the time have had dead motherboard and harddrive as well as those who leave them on all the time, speaking of time ,time for another beer ,good night and good luck
