Hi I have a similar query in that one of my memory slots has a broken retaining clip

if its just the retainer that is broken it should still work ,last time i had a computer wit ha broken retainer click i use hot Glue gun to but a nice dab of glue on the end where the retainer goes,worked for me good luck

nice to se you got it fixed ,i didn't get the problem when i installed google app ,make sure you have latewst Firefox browser

also try going to Start and right click on the google search app and uninstall it .

i just installed it the same way you di and was not asked anything about accociaon ,it just went from firefot to the app store and i hit install and no problem using it ,must be a problem with your Firefox as Reverentjim suggest

i read with interst,,you are on a budget,now you are talking about havind 4 drives,but have to say if all you were looking for was more speed,you should have looked harder at the ssd cacheing drive,i think it would have added much more speed than a raid setup ,just an opinion

you need to buy win7 64bit dvd ,i was going to suggest using windows anytime upgrade ,but You can't upgrade from a 32-bit version to a 64-bit version with Windows Anytime Upgrade

hi, start with the Chipset driver ,it will foix most of the missing ones , and go from there ,post back with updated list after you install the chipset driver .

also why Vista ,did the laptop not come with win7 ,asus site doesn't show drivers for Vista

windows will not overload ram chips ,what it does is clear ram not being used at the moment ,ram chips is wiped clean each time computer is rebooted .

i have been using 3 ram chips with one slot empty for about 3 yrs now,no problem .i even have 3 different speeds in use ,they will all automaticly run at the lowest speed . ,just put the forth chip in yesterday ,this thread reminded me that i had one two use .

hi, you could search google.com and get a better answer than i can give ,for sure ,

there is no problems in having odd numbers it will not cause any damage to the computer , ,i have 4 slots in my computer ,only using 3 of them ,3x1gb,not an issue ,but i do loose out the DDR [double data rate ]function by not having the 4th slot filled .

its always better to have more as windows and the programs you have installed on the computer will all use there fair share to run better , ,so the more you have for it to access the better .

how much MHz a RAM has

you how much it is ,not has ,as the Mhz is speed of ram not size .,like the older 100,133,300-400,800,ect ect if it aint on the sticker im not sure how to find the mhz with out putting it into a computer and using a program like cpuid cp-z software

building you nas storage[box] computer would not be that costly, first site built a 13tb one for 2500.00 alot but ,but a 1 oe 2 tb drive in a half decent computer will work just fine ,i have a dell complex 745,i paid 80.00 cdn for it , and one of the suggestion from the site i bought the tower on was to use a nas box ,

microsoft security essencials is free and we use it on all the computer in our family ,with great success ,and yes malwarebytes scan tool is still free ,just the real time scan is trial

I like to use floppies because I can delete and reuse them whenever I no longer need the info.

a cd burner using cd-rw disk will work the same , cd-rw are also erasable , and you can edit file and save the changes ,when using CD-RW disks .
but i agree a usb thumb drive will be the best and cheapest way to go

winxp likely did not have driver for the video device in the mini ,so you would need to go to Dell support and get the correct drivers to fix the problem .
