Good Evening and welcome to Daniweb!
2095 is usually a permissions problem.
If you're familar with the registry you can navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apple Computer inc\QuickTime
then change the permissions from there.

Think this just proves we're clearly all geeky - cool; but geeky! lol 16 posts on how to shut down a pc!
Quite impressed though! lol
Dazza
So you've tried a new power supply - fan came on but little else? Hmmm, could well be a power surge. Check all the cables going to the Motherboard though - if it has no power it won't do anything! lol
Dazza
yes vista can be a pain - what with home basic/premium not even having support for IIS built in
IIS isn't installed by default but usually it can be selected among the optionally installed components. IIS for MS Vista may restrict performance on concurrent requests but doesn't limit the number of connections allowed.
Yes XP was ageing; but why on earth replace it with something that generally performs worse? The memory leak is actually shocking!
Dazza
Does the screen work at boot-up? When you get the Toshiba screen. Also try connecting it to an external display as Majestic suggested.
It could well be just a loose connection, as the wires they use are almost like tape and are quite flimsy.
Dazza
Welcome to Daniweb by the way!
You get the kinder egg factory (But with WinZip Beta 9 'Entire building compression') haha
I put in the LA Lakers
Only really cool people are allowed in. But really, there's so few of us that meet the coolness bar that it's pretty dead. Except when someone new is inducted and goes around necromancing a bunch of threads.
I thought we agreed not to talk about that? haha
Dazza
Any componemt exposed to those tempretures will have its life decreased. As the fan works at boot up I'm guessing it's a software problem - especially as it works on Xp.
Do you have the relavent drivers installed for the GPU? Have you checked it in Device Manager to see whether firstly - it's in there, second if it knows what it is and whether it has the drivers.
Dazza
(How long ago did you buy it by the way?)
Hmmm.....
Have you tried pressing F8 or F11 at boot up?
As some systems have a HDD recovery pre-installed and is accessed via one of those buttons. From memory I can't remember the process for Toshiba's, but will look into it for you.
Dazza
Random question, but did you install 'Steam' recently or has it been on a while?
Dazza
Where did you get your UPS from? As I've been playing with the idea of getting one for a while.
Dazza
You get Aladin on DVD.
I put in an entire HR dept. (They're taking over the world! - they need to be stopped! lol)
In theory yes, but you'll usually get something - just won't display perfectly or correctly in most instances until the drivers have been installed.
Dazza
you get a reflection.
I put in toast!
Which one did you get?
Dazza
Most filters will block downloads mate, although we all did this while at school - your intentions are questionable.
Although most schools log usage; they may turn a blind eye to the occasional site - mainly as they have more important things to deal with. But downloading files to a school pc is something else entirely.
It's good to see someone taking such an interest in IT, and it's proberbly one of the best ways you'll learn. Just be careful, think about it first and don't go to far as they'll only take so much.
Dazza
You get the DVD of Bruce Almighty
I put in a Pocket PC
Have you installed or removed any software or hardware recently?
Even just connected a new device?
Dazza
If it works in safe mode; have you tried a system recovery?
Dazza
First time for me - loved it. Hi you guys, I'm new
Evening Molly, welcome to Daniweb!
Dazza
That used to be hanging in the Comp Sci student lounge at my school.
Haha!
The Brits talk kind of funny, but that is all the difference I notice.
Haha!
Don't think you can say one is better than the other, the states has warm weather & beaches - the UK has history and landmarks and scenic veiws. The states have their film
industry - UK has music industry. Both pretty much failing in car production.
Both seem to be amazed by each others accents. But I do think the media often portray
the Americans as being over-weight simpletons (generally) - which is proberbly why people in foriegn countrys often have negative veiws of the states.
But have to give kudos to Bush for they way he handled 9/11, apart from Churchill I don't think any of our leaders could have got a country through that. Majority of the most watched TV shows are American as well; The OC, Friends, Scrubs, 24 etc.
And there will always be people on both sides who think they're better than the other; but you just have to live with them. People often critisise the states for having high gun crime rates; but they forget that the US is much bigger than most EU countrys and just about every country in the world has dark corners.
The only thing that really let's the States down is their healthcare system; although you could always get health insurance so not a major thing. And overal; it's proberbly no worse than the NHS.
Dazza …
Ebuyer is a good one, tend to be half the price of the high street for most things, also budpak is pretty good. If you're buying in bulk - if you had a store for instance, Alibaba would be good as well.

Afternoon Idara, welcome to Daniweb!

If we told you we'd have to kill you! :D

You get scooby do.
I put in a Wookie
You get a cave girl.
I put in a camper van. (Not just any van though...a VW hippy van! Oh yes!)
Dazza
Ok, have you tried reassembling it? Just to make sure nothing has come loose?
Dazza
Ah nice one matey, might try this at work later! lol
Dazza
haha well done dude!
Dazza
(Sorry mind isn't with it today lol)
You get a speeding ticket.
I put in Mark zuckerberg
The number of problems that Vista has caused; surely it can be legally classed as a weapon of mass destruction by now? lol
Yes it may be eye candy; but who said candy was good for you? :D
Dazza
You get a load of blu-ray DVD's (which you can't play! :D )
You get a Pre-N router - nice! :)
Good Evening and welcome to Daniweb!
So your MS Vista pc is running slow, and having problems with various processes as well as sound.
For this sort of thing your best bet would be to try a system restore or known as a 'destructive recovery' depending on the make and model.
Unless your system came with recovery media you'll need to do HDD recovery. This can be done by tapping F8 or F11 (depends on make & model as they sometimes have MS recovery as F8 and OEM recovery F11). Depending which you chose you'll need to select 'repair your computer' will then say 'windows is loading files' - this is normal.
You'll need to ensure it's running off the power adaptor before starting though as having the battery die halfway could cause real problems (if it's a laptop that is).
Either way though you'll need to back up any work first though.
Regards,
Dazza
Good Evening, and welcome to Daniweb!
Have you tried reseating the memory?
Or perhaps trying just one in at a time?
Have you ever had this sort of issue before or any related issues with this system?
Dazza
Did they work?
Yes; you and me both matey! I wasn't liked much at school lol, although you'll no doubt be popular for being able to get people onto facebook, up their printer credits, shut down the server, change homework dates etc - it spreads real quick and some bright spark will of course end up reporting it.
Not fun lol, the key thought would be to change your method frequently so if anyone did try and stop you by the time they found out what you were doing and blocked it you had already changed.
Dazza
This doesn't surprise me, but as far they're concerned it's you Vs them. And they'll do or say whatever to make sure you know that they're far more knowleadgable than all of us put together - or so they think!
Dazza
May want to check these out:

Are you using on board graphics or a graphics card?
Dazza
Microsoft Word - hyperlink - insert desired address?
One think I did (and still do), was use something like Logmein free edition, then log into that at my desired location, as it's a secure page it's a lot harder for them to block.
They'll only see secure.logmein.com for example, as it gives you control of your pc so they can't see what you're doing on your pc if that makes sense? Can be slow at times though.
Another thing would be; most school filters don't block https:// just http://, sometimes ftp:// works as well.
Whatever you do to get round it; get it quiet as once one or two people know - everyone will use it - then they'll block it!
Dazza
Depending on whether it was pre-installed it won't always show there, however if you download a newer version your OS and installer should just update it.
Dazza
Digital Single Lens Reflex camers (SLRs) typically came as compact flash due to the better data transfer rates. But as many manafacterers now have ranges that boast 20MB/s in both SD and CF it isn't such a big thing.
Something like a Canon Powershot would give you the felxibility of the Ixus but the power of the EOS - could be the way forward?
SDHC is the way to go. Card sizes vary between 1GB - 16GB for SDHC and 1GB - 32GB for CF. Although they do come smaller there's very little point in paying for anything less than one gigabyte.
Also be wary of some of the new HD ones, as they often need their own software to veiw and also download from the camera. However there are very few out at the moment so proberbly not such a big issue.
Dazza
Ok; so you've tried deleting any current networks and performing a hard reset on your router? Which I believe is made by Siemens??
Dazza
Cracks me up every time lol
Have you got the make and model of the router and the free-to-air receiver?
Has the router got a firewall built into it?
Is there a 'connection' or 'network' setup etc on the receiver?
Dazza
Have you tried AVG by Grisoft, there's a free version that works pretty well. I can't honestly remember if it let's you run it from a flash drive - I think so though. But it did have a useful feature where you could download updates without having the program installed then use them on a machine that did.
Hope this helps,
Dazza
Sorry dude I'm not your guy for Linux lol
Not to worry though as there's plenty here who are! lol
