My wife got a VeryfitPro fitness monitor for Christmas. I have the app loaded on my Android (6) phone and was hoping to install a companion app on my Windows 10 laptop but the only thing available is to install an Android emulator on Windows 10 then load the phone app into that. I did a google search and found a list of the 7 best emulators. The list was 1. BlueStacks 1. Remix OS Player 1. Droid4x 1. MEmu 1. Nox Player 1. AMIDuOS 1. Windroy I tried Bluestacks and ended up at an online poker site. Remix resulted …

Hello, I have a PC at the office, which was by default a Windows 8 Pro OEM licensed one (not 8.1), but for some unknown reasons, it was downgraded to Windows 7 Pro, which is again showing "OEM" in the activation Product ID. I would like to format and perform a clean install of Windows 10 Pro (v. 1803) on the PC, and use the existing Windows 8 Pro OEM key to activate it after install. I would like to get a second opinion before doing so, knowing that the PC did not receive any of the Windows 10 free …

My brother has a Windows 10 laptop. I use Linux so I'm a little out of the loop when it comes to Windows. He's having problems and wants me to wipe it out and re-install it. Will I need to load the OS onto a USB drive first? If so where and how do I get to that menu? Or is it more likely to work like a tablet where everything can web wiped out and re-installed from the interface with no additional hardware needed? Thanks.

Yesterday I followed a thread trying to learn to lock file folders using the cacls in the command window. I thought I'd use the temp file folder as my target, thinking that it was the most innocent folder I had. I was able to lock it, but now I can't unlock it. Here is the code that I used to lock it: cacls %temp% /G %username%:R it asked me: Are you sure <Y/N> I replied Y, and it returned "processed dir: C:\DPCUME~1\HASLAM~4.AFT\LOCALS~1\Temp I could confirm that I was unable to save anything to the temp folder. So I then wanted …

It's just awful... I saved the document 20 minutes ago. Just my CorelDraw X4 took off leaving me no hope of saving. Opened a backup, it was even stupidly empty. Opened the file itself and the worst expectations were met, I returned with my mountain project on several levels ago. Please, tell me, what can I do to get back my 6 hours work? Why in the hellish program is there some sort of fuse in the draft?((((( I'm in shock...

Hi, I am currently facing an issue after upgrading a Windows 7 Pro (OEM Edition) to Windows 10 Pro following updates provided by Microsoft, whereby while checking my activation status, I found the following message: "Connect to the internet to activate Windows" I tried to activate it manually from the "Settings" window, but it gave me: "Windows can't activate right now. Try activating again later. If that doesn't work, contact support. Error code 0xD0000272." Any other way I can proceed to activate?

I cannot access the serial port, COM1:. I used to be able to but now any app, such as Hyperterminal, that tries to open COM1: puts up a small info window that says "Unable to open COM1. Please check your port settings." Any idea what might be causing this? According to Device Manager the port is working correctly. I'm wondering if another auto started app that I don't know about has opened the port. Is there any way to find out what apps have opened the serial ports on the PC? I'm running Win XP home with all service packs …

Hi all, I'm trying to give a user access to a shared calendar (that the rest of her team have access to already) but I can't figure it out. The calendar was originally set up by a staff member that has left so I'm in the dark with it. What I do know is: 1. In the Exchange admin center it's listed as a Resource and under Mailbox delegation - none of the staff that have access to the calendar are listed here. It was set to be hidden from the address books too. I gave myself access through this …

This is not really an issue, just more of an information gathering. I've read in many places to go to this location to change the Shell Interface icons in Windows XP... ""HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\explorer\Shell Icons"" My main question is though, where is the "Shell Icons" item in the registry? Every time I've looked in the registry and searched it I find nothing. Also I don't feel like extracting and compiling a DLL to get my icons to work for the system icons (My Computer, Network Locations, Start Menu, and so on). Any assistance would be great.

Ok folks, I rarely log in to ask questions so forgive me if I'm in the wrong category. Ok, the pc is a laptop (HP Elitebook 8460p, i5-2520m CPU 2.50GHz, 4GB RAM, Crucial 240GB SSD) running Win 7 Pro 64. Now I've scoured the net and can't find a single post with my unique problem. My laptop seems to work great in every way untill I start using it on battery power. The bat charges fine and holds a good charge. It'll runn for hours on that charge too so I don't see that as a sourse of the isue. …

When I quit for the day on my PC I always used "sleep" instead of shutdown. The monitor would go black and after a few seconds the power would shut down. That was normal. Now when I tell it to sleep the monitor goes black, the PC never powers down and after about 10 seconds does like a mini reboot then comes back on including the monitor. I have uninstalled any recent software that I've loaded. Even though I had my hard drive and monitor settings to never go to sleep from inactivity I was still able to tell it …

I've tried everything, including running bootrec numerous times and I can't boot into Windows10. It started when I came home and noticed Windows was informing me I was missing my boot master. Everything was working wonderfully yesterday, what happened I have not a clue. Using Windows10 installation disc I was able to see my Windows Drive and all my folders were there, as well, I was able to preform a bootrec /mbr - successfully; bootrec /fixboot - successfully, when running bootrec /rebuildbcd the Windows installation is found but when I agree to add the installation to the boot list, I …

Hi, Wondering if you lovely people can help me; my career goal is to succeed in IT but due to family issues I had to drop out of my degree. With this being networking and dealing with Microsoft Windows Server I would love to complete the MCSA. However, in a production environment I assume that many businesses will not use the latest version due to security issues and bugs. What would you recommend as a safe certification to complete that will give me more chances in getting into an IT Support Role. (2008, 2012, 2016). Thanks, in Advance! Antony

I am currently living in California and I periodically RDP to my home computer in NY. I'm not quite sure how this happened, but from the last time I logged in a few days ago, to today, my user account has been mysteriously deleted?! Perhaps Windows Update did something flaky? I am able to access the Users folder for the user I usually log in as (used to be …

On my wife's laptop I'm trying to stop it using Windows Update by switching on metered connection. But there doesn't appear to be that option. When I go to Settings - Network & Internet - Wi-Fi, there is no advanced settings to click on and find metered connection. Here is a screen shot on what the Wifi tab looks like with no option to go any further that I can see. Why doesn't it look like the the examples I've found on the Internet? ![Screen_Shot_2016-11-10_at_11_59_06.png](/attachments/small/1/9d98512680ef163e8f44c60fe602e185.png "align-left")

Hello. I've recently upgraded a Windows 8.1 Pro (OEM) to Windows 10 using the Media Creation tool since I was not getting the GWX icon. Activation has been successful from the OEM key. However, there were some registry issues from the Win 8.1 install itself, and these are still present despite the upgrade, and thus I would like to know whether if I format and clean install Windows 10 directly on the PC, will I be able to activate automatically again, or do I need to purchase a Win 10 key?

Good day I am experiencing issues with Microsoft Excel 2013 32- bit running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Whenever I start Excel or switch to it from another program the following error message pops up: "An unexpected error occured: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" To the best of my knowledge, this started after a failed export of a Sage Pastel's Intelligence Center report. Please advise on how to address this. Many thanks Etienne
