Re: Are you referring to a little pop-up indicator saying "someone replied to a thread you're watching" while you're actively on the site? The same way we have the little pop-up notifications when someone messages you?
Re: I prefer twitter, and it's what I use most often. It's quick and easy. Facebook is probably better for traffic because links can include a full description / recommendation. There's not as much garbage to sort through as with twitter. I don't know anyone who uses / likes Google +1.
Re: Can you show us the tables you've created and what columns are in each one? What is the schema doe the subject table, for example? It would help us greatly to see if you're on the right track here.
Re: Hi there, Thank you for your suggestions. It's hard for me to comment right now because I'm just so busy working so hard behind the scenes to upgrade the site to the new version. Hopefully you guys won't be disappointed when we launch (hopefully next month). At that time, I'll …

Re: > While I can't fathom why "thermalprint" is in the forum menus or why C# is now missing, the upcoming changes appear to again move further away from the usual programming forums. A spammer promoting Thermal Print tagged a huge load of threads with 'thermalprint' so that there would be …
Re: There are webmaster forums out there, such as this Internet Marketing community, and others such as WebmasterWorld, etc., but the days of spamming on forums and gaining backlinks or traffic are loooooong gone.

Sorry for the downtime earlier today ... I'm working behind the scenes on merging all of Dazah functionality *into* DaniWeb. This means starting out by getting them both on the exact same infrastructure. Dazah has a lot of security benefits over DaniWeb, so I'm currently working on doing a lot …
Re: Hi Fazil! Welcome to DaniWeb. This looks a little bit like a Slack clone? What are the advantages to using it instead of something like Slack?

Re: Submitting to directories doesn't really work anymore.
I want to focus a lot on developing new features for DaniWeb, and getting us back to our former glory. However, a lot of doing that requires the community's investment and involvement in Dazah. Who out here in Internet land has any interest in building a Dazah app? If no, …
Re: Microsoft bought Skype and, while I can't say that the software has really been improved in any substantial way since it was purchased, I don't think it was made worse or lost market share either. I guess we shall see what happens.
Re: Sorry, I'm not really understanding your question. Do you mean a voting system for a commenting system? What platform are you using? Do you have a commenting system built out? Do you need help modifying your existing commenting system to add coins or points when people post?
Re: Oooh, the company is actually called Proper. When you said a proper one, I thought you added the word 'proper' just because you're British and you UK folks like that word.
Re: Hi there and welcome to DaniWeb! A moderator removed the link from your post because it came off pretty spammy. You were sneaky about it and hid the link in anchor text in your post, which makes it seem like the only reason you posted was for the backlink. Lucky …
I recently had to mass insert a really large text file of strings into MySQL. Here's how I did it.
![]() | Re: This code connects to a database. Do you mean just replacing the table with a dropdown? echo '<html><body><select>'; while ($i < mysqli_field_count($link)) { $meta = mysqli_fetch_field_direct($result, $i); echo '<option>' . $meta->name . '</option>'; $i = $i + 1; } echo '</select></html>'; |
Re: Use social media ... Facebook, Twitter, etc. to promote your articles for free. Once you learn which articles tend to go more viral than others, you will begin to recognize which articles are worth paying to promote on Facebook.
Re: Ah, FusionChart! I'm a big fan. That's what we use for DaniWeb member profiles as well as the stats features on Dazah. As Andris pointed out, the bug is in chartdata.xml

Re: I think yes, they will. I've been spending most of my time living in Silicon Valley lately, so I see Google driverless cars on the road quite often around Mountain View. I see them navigate road construction, traffic jams, etc. More than that, though, I think that driverless cars will …
Re: Sorry, another mod deleted this thread as spam, I guess because he didn't realize who Danny is ... Moving it to the SEO forum for proper discussion. And, yes, I know who Danny Sullivan is ;) He even won me a stuffed dog at an SEO festival years and years …
Re: What do you mean "you do SEO all the time"? What exactly do you do? You should do all of the above ... use social sites, submit to article syndication services, etc. It is a slow, time-consuming process. However, one that can pay off big time. It just takes a …

Re: It won't help you to get indexed any quicker but it will help you to help Google understand the content and context of your app ages. It can also be used to build breadcrumb navigation in the google results, etc.
Re: It depends on the product or service you want to promote. I have had really great successes with Google AdWords when it comes to promoting DaniWeb, and really terrible results with Facebook.
