I know that Windows 10 is now out, and it would make the most amount of sense to either rename our current Windows Vista/7/8 forum into Vista/7/8/10, or separate them out into Vista/7 and 8/10. However, due to all of our recent issues with Google, I'm trying to avoid any …
Re: > I replied to DaniWebs email to let them know how stupid they where to push this when obviously they never even checked it out It's a bit funny that you are mad at me for not having given Dazah a thorough investigation before promoting it to the DaniWeb community. …
Re: Unfortunately with forums, it's not true that build it and they will come. If we went ahead and created a new forum, that new forum would remain empty. As pritaeas says, our Web Design forum is most appropriate here (although I understand that you might not be talking about web-based …
Re: Not worth it anymore. I don't even think Dmoz is maintained anymore, and Google Directory no longer uses it.
Re: Did this just start? Did you just recently update Google Chrome?
Re: Not that I know of. If you have Chase, and you want to send money to someone else with a Chase bank account, there is Chase Quick Pay. Really don't know anything else as common as PayPal though.
Re: No, it's cached on our end, Jim. Our activity stream is heavily, heavily cached, and doesn't take into consideration post edits for an absurdly long time.

Re: We have been having email server issues the past few days. The email server was malfunctioning for most of Saturday, and the number of emails in the queue created an enormous backlog. With regards to email alerts for updated threads, we send those out in batches once an hour. You …

Re: Currently running an experiment where it opens by default. If you close it, it stays closed for the rest of your browser session, but then reopens again the next time you visit the site.
Re: It's not a bug. Our web traffic has just been super crappy lately, advertising revenue is down, and donations are way down too. The pool in which we pay cashouts comes primarily from donations, with a little bit extra thrown in from ad revenue to cover everything. Unfortunately, what happened …
Re: I agree in that Facebook is probably your best bet. When it comes to brick and mortar, I've had much more success with Facebook than I have with Google Adwords, personally. But when it comes to promoting DaniWeb, I've had AMAZING results with AdWords and terrible results with Facebook.
Re: Haven't heard this before, although I did hear that Google is interested in possibly acquiring Twitter.
Re: Can you explain what cin.ignore actually does, and why we need to specify some randomly large number? Is there no command to just clear the input buffer of the newline character?
My Mac address book syncs itself with my iPhone. Somehow (I think through Microsoft Entourage??) it silently added contacts to the address book for everyone I sent/received an email to/from. I now have thousands of contacts that have an email address only with no phone number, and I don't want …
Re: You won't be getting any emails.
We just migrated to all new servers!! Yay! Please be sure to let me know if *anything* isn't working right, or seems off, ...
Re: You have to be more specific with your question. You can set up an AdWords campaign at http://adwords.google.com ... Google gives a lot of help for newbies to setup their first campaign. They even offer phone tech support to walk you through the process. We'd be more than happy to …

Re: Hmm, so strange. Yeah, the next time if it happens if you could send me the response headers (which you just did) along with the URI in the browser bar.

Re: To answer the OP's question, as to the reason why the page they linked to is soooo long and not split into multiple pages, the answer is that we allow 20 posts per page, regardless of the length of the post.
Re: I highly doubt it's a publicity stunt by the Telegraph. I'm sure it's just a case of googlebot's faulty AI. I'm not quite sure what you mean about Google replacing image links from the old article??
Re: Thanks for the heads up! This has been fixed. Sorry, we have been going through a huge server migration :)
Re: > Will that litle image at the bottom of the site ever be updated to show my avatar Yes, it will be updated. > Out of curriousity, why is it disabled in this, where I am typing right now? The editor that we use is not a standard HTML textarea, …
Re: Things might have gotten a little wonky because we did an entire server migration tonight. However, it probably wasn't you visitng that page that fixed the issue. Instead, we run a script every so often that recounts things, and it was probably just a coincidence that it ran in the …
We are currently in the process of migrating onto all new server architecture. Tonight, at approximately 9 pm EST, we will be putting the database into read-only mode while we migrate the database to its new home. Just a heads up :)
Re: I'm really sorry about that. https://www.daniweb.com/community-center/daniweb-community-feedback/threads/496319/daniweb-going-into-read-only-mode We are in the middle of some major server migrations.
Re: ProgrammingForums is a different site. It currently isn't being maintained.
Re: Try Media.net (It's Yahoo!/Bing's alternative to AdSense). However, truth be told, no other PPC network is going to make the same kind of money that AdSense does. And if you can't get into AdSense, you most likely won't be making much money elsewhere either. (Unless it was because you got …
Re: You want to use htmlentities() or htmlspecialchars() when sending data to an HTML page, not when preparing data to be entered into a database. In fact, htmlentities() is not what is causing the I'm. That's probably the result of addslashes, which you *do* want to do when escaping data to … ![]()

Re: No Penguin or Panda update in 2015 yet. We are all waiting anxiously! However, Google did release their long-awaited mobile algorithm last week, which favors mobile-friendly sites when searching from mobile devices. Aside from those big algos, Google updates their algorithm hundreds of times per year, so there have been …
Re: I have never heard of humans.txt before, but my first guess is that it does not help SEO in any substanial way. That being said, the homepage you linked to does encourage the use of `<link type="text/plain" rel="author" href="http://domain/humans.txt" />`. It's a good general rule of thumb to use the …
Re: I have no clue what ad cloaking is?? Cloaking, in general, is the concept of serving different content up to Googlebot than to actual humans. I'm not sure what you're trying to describe? Do you mean not showing AdSense ads to end users who are not likely to click, such …
Re: There was a severe problem with our email server that had been going on for about a week. Unfortunately, no one brought the issue to my attention, so I had just found out about it yesterday. Problem resolved now :)
Re: On the surface, how you choose to name your external resources won't negatively affect your SEO. However, I do think it's a good general practice, especially for your logo and images you wish to have indexed in Google Images, to use friendly names. For example, our logo can be found …
