Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

can you give us abit more info

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

eh your best bet wouldnt be to try to "copy" everything over. youd probally want to buy or aquire a 3rd party software to make fully bootable backups such as norton ghost

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

hehe :D fun game though, last time i played it was MD8.X or sumthing :D i knew it wasnt a mandrake game i just assiocated it with MD cuz it was my flavor at that time

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

with XP you should be able to remove the ME instaltion

they shouldnt "slow" your computer down at all. computers that dont get defraged and cleand up now and then run slow as hell ;D

whos your isp? and "why" wouldnt it work

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

if your running ME or XP do a system restore, otherwise never play in the registry unless you know what your doing

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you cant download it legally, its not in beta stages yet.
and you cant buy it either

its in alpha stages

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

no their not wowexec is windows on windows 16 bit module that will let XP or 2k ( or even 98 i belive) run 16bit programs. opware is a 16bit program and needs wow to run. now what opware is im not really sure

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

fntldr.exe sounds like a windows NT system

go to run, and type winver tell me what the window that popsup says

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

DX is sorta supported on Linux, but if you want to play games go windows

actually if i could have goten my video drivers to work properly on Mandrake i think their basic game pack is way better :D (the tux sliding down the hill is awsome)

but over all each platform be it Linux Unix Windows Mac (or anything else out there) they have their advantages and disadvantages.

But overall personally ill take a Mac over a Windows(PC) (if i could afford one ;D) Windows(PC) over a linux setup. but thats me. i do like linux but its not for what i do

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

try clearing your temporay internet files.

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you must activiate XP pro, and if you didnt buy a real copy, id sugggest going else where for support :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

i belive there is a tool out there that will let you change the key.

if you do a reinstall you wont be able to keep any installed programs. however you can keep physical files

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

guys please try to note the date of topics :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you can try to repair the IE instalation or just switch to FB (over ns)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

weird problem, get tweakui from windows.com and run the first option in the repair section to see if that help

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

no but ive noticed alot of users with this problem after the switch, however ive not had it >.<

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

sounds like someones hacking you

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

yes they are quite abit differnt. 2500's are just waht they are 2500's they arnt modual at all. 2600's are totaly modual everything can be loaded and unload and they can have any type of port you buy for them. but as its a personall lab you can probally stick with 2500's

never go into hubs. hubs are a waste of bw. they will clog the network swiches should always be used in place of hubs

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

if its a LCD dont even try, just take it in to get looked at, plus way wrong area for this ;d

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

its not spyware its a small virus, you need to use the tool

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you might need to boot into safe mode to do this FYI

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

try clearing your cache / temporay internet files

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

no most likly not

might want a memory upgrade but i doubt thats even nessary

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

well to start with networking, i wouldnt suggest 2500 serries as they are old and out dated, id suggest learning howto do shit on the new 2600 serries, there about as expensive as the 2500 serries used to be.. no hubs fyi ;D. for Novell id suggest buying their student books that they have for their classes i found it highly usefull for when i was learning CNA materials, of course i was a student then ^^. i still have the book. if your going to be studying for CCNA see if you can find someone else who is taking the classes and get the CCNA class material from them.

Back to Novell. its an ok system, it is a NOS it has no real workstation features. its most command line and gui is 100% java and horrid to work with if its not nessary.

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

care to share the thread?

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

i should probally move this to mac as my IE support ends at the Windows Line (switch to somthing besdies Safari or IE i SUGGEST Mozilla or FB )
since you asked there im closing this >.<

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

lol glad you figured it out, let us know how it goes?

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

eh dont, just get a new more powerfull one

if you honestly need more than 550 your computer has too much crap

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

try uninstalling it and gettin a new copy

i would have suggested backing up and installing XP fresh as upgrades from 9x to NT bring old problems with it

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

also get a legal version of windows xp ;D

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

ditto >.< however if your still using pc133 its time to upgrade your box

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

well if you only wait 2 hours sure :P i susaly try to stop in once or twice a day and im sorta the windows guy so

anyway. if your going to setup networking DONT use the wizzard do it manually, its not that hard.

/me also moves this to Windows NT section if i could :(

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

only one thread please ^^

youd need to own the domain name ^^ and setup a mail accout on it

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

id go broadband, its not to expensive and its really worth the speed boost, yes you can share dailup... but id never nver never recomend it

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

i used to have a problem that no programs would respond after losing my commnection to the net so yea >.>

i fixed it by reinstalling

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

anyone who couldnt have guessed 9x isnt going to be supported much longer well yea >.<

why support the old when your pusing the new

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

try clearing your cache

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

try clearing your cache (temporay internet files) i think there was another topic on here somewhere, ill see if we resolved that

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

now my laptop LCD rox but it was like a huge chunk of money on my dell laptop >.>

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

well i was more or less refering to novell being installed onto windows 98 novell 5.1 and lower ran on 90% 16bit programs

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you only needed one thread, we will respond and help as quicly as we can

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you only need to make ONE thread
/thread closed

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

also try spy bot search and destroy

next time, ONE THREAD

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

i was asking nicely...

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

Aeinstein please use REAL english here >.> its hard enuf to under stand shorthand

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

i wouldnt suggest using vb's mysql dump feature either

ive used the ssh mysql dumb quite a fewq times just fine

mysqldump --opt -uUSERNAME -pPASSWORD databasname > /path/to/dump.sql

i honestly never had a problem with it

vb also has a specific table backup if you backup the full DB, anything store in the DB will be backuped as well

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

i wasnt refering to the disk i was referint to the TYPE of migration, either you did an UPGRADE or you did a CLEAN INSTALL.

the XP HOME FULL and XP HOME UPGRADE are the same disk with atad differnt requirements

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

try using a differnt browser, such as mozilla, if it effects mozi/fb it sounds like more than just an IE problem

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

so i guess ill add my two sense, id personally take win 2k3 server, dont bother with the web server edition.

if you need php support install apache, and if you need it with asp you can install the non cgi version for IIS, personally ive never thought very high of IIS i can configure apache better than i can IIS, and ive used IIS a few times with very little success.

my current dedicated box is 2k3 server, running Apache 2 ^^ and it almost never goes offf unless we plan to update the whole system, (so around every 3 - 4 months for patches php mysql apache updates mailserver and whatnot) so we have a fairly good uptime. now i know that some ppl say well on a FreeBSD system we never rebooted in 3 years >.> i personally belive that its good to give a system a good reboot now and then.

As for linux, i wouldnt suggest it for someone whos new to it. if your an expireneced linux user, go crazy with it

as for novell? it was good in its day but its time is over and its not really all that great anymore

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

id suggest uninstalling kazaa and using kazaalite to being with.

check in the add remove programs tos ee if anything related to wupdater is in there

check your hosts file inside of c:\windows\ it should be empty
