this is NOT MSN / WINDOWS MESSNENGER

just thought id make that 100% clear

its a old program that is still in windows that allows users in the same subnet or winns server to communitcate

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

Linux is not for the average person, it requires abit of programming skills and alot of time if your going to make it run right

Windows anyone can use if they have a brain

MacOSX is for anyone who is brandnew to computers ( if theyve used windows they will feel ackward trying to use a mac unless they sit down and spend some good time getting used to it)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

nothing can come close to the power of vB atm :) not with out alot of devs and quite abit of time

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

if you havent disabled them id suggest doing system restore to before the problem started

and dont delete all the hardware, if you dont know what your doing i wouldnt play around too much in the device manager

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

does your bios have any time managent tools?

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

id suggest contacting your ISP as its somthing on their end

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

we cant help unless you have your windows XP CD. if you dont then id suggest sticking with mozilla

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

I've just installed Win XP pro, clean install - the problem is the computer will not shut down. When I click Shut Down, the lights on the tower will flicker a bit, might get a hourglass which then returns to a pointer, but I do not leave the desktop. Everything is still functional. The same thing happens with Restart. I can go into the Sleep Mode though.

I've checked the Power Management settings - there is no APM selection, it isn't available in the BIOS either.

Am at a loss

SIS630 board, 192 mbs RAM

Any help is desparately appreciated! :)

slashdot also have LOADS of content though too...

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

he would still need the admin pw to login :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

also if your computer is still under warrenty id suggest giving HP a call

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

thats only sorta true :)

google does use metta tags still to display adsense but it also uses keywords too :) i noticed when i changed my keywords to a ton of microsoft stuff all my AS became MS releated ;D

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

im not entirly sure what your problem is..

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

when did this problem start happening
do you have any antivirus programs installed
can you tell us any thing else?

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

Tall i am aware however alot of people do pirate windows XP pro, most users tend to have home :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

nope Knoppix is free you just need to download it and burn it :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

whats the modle of this year old video card?

when i say 2 years old im saying manfacture date not purcahse date

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you should probally have one if you have windows xp pro ;D

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

Can you give me soem more info on your network configuration?

as in hubs routers switches servers and such

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

eh get your XP cd out and boot it up and try to do a recovery. altho personally ive never had the problem

also you can try booting into safe mode :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

i was refering to the fact of how it loads moduals onto its already running system sorta like Linux does

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

not really, youd probally hafta edit the NTFS DB which im not even sure if its possible

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you could try disabling that, but you should probally get a new video card if its more than 2 years old

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

Actually what your posts shows me is that you dotn know a whole alot about novell as it is. as it already runs a Linux like kernal ;D

:)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

any reason windows 95? why not 98 or even 2k? (min requirments for 2k is only 133 and 64megs of ram)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

when did this start happening

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

personally if your a totaly newbie go with mandrake or knoppix

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

eh if you dont know how to install linux id probally suggest you dont >.<

altho if your bent on installing it id suggest trying knoppix first as you donthave to install it it just runs off ram

or id suggest mandrake

but be aware if you fuxors some settings on install you sorta need to reinstall >.< or at least thats been my expirence

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

Sometimes when i try to type it just wont let me, i'll have to wait a minute or two and then i can type again but it usually types in all caps at that point. There are not many more details to give.

i was refering more to your system as in hardware OS there is a sticky about it

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

can you give us more details

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

popin your restore disk, however you will lose everythiung you have currently if you do not back it up

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

have you changed your bios settins recently?

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

IMO MM sucks id suggest switching to a differnt program such as winamp. have you tried buring music with any other appilications?

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

contact the person or company you bought it from

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

id defrag and do a scan disk and get any updates for nero that have come out >.<

otherwise im not sure what to tell you

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

quite abit

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

sounds like somthing on your motherboard doesnt like xp

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

he wants the cracked version ;D but we dont support that stuff here :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

dont format the whole 120gb for your main system partition, make a pairtion about 20 gb and install your OS

then use windows parition manager to make the rest

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

to get a copy of "coperate" you must purcahse a volume license copy and get no activation for just the OS costs plus 5 licenses to all their OS brach its about 800-1400 usd (i dun remember off the top of my head) and its usualy only sold to real companys or schools / non profit orgs

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

Ditton on that one :/ if i get a chance ill do a google search for it

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

well if your using MSN your using ie with a "pretty" skin

get away from NS and use Mozilla or Firebird (lite version of mozi)FB has a built in popup blocker, if you dont want AX secturity popups change the settings for IE in the advanced tab to never ask

i have almost no spyware (cept the rare few i keep on my pc for a few programs) and its because i dont go aroudn the web searcing for stupid stuff and i dont go to sites with popup ads :P

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

they redid alot of their site to be less bandwith heavy and use the new .net applications. originally hotmail got bought out by msn and slowly they worked off freebsd servers. now they all run 2k3 and .net and they also got rid of tons of old heavy images and moved to a more standardized ammount of code / images :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

if you just want to scrap the 2000 os and dont need to worry about it just popin windows xp pro disk and there is a partition manager on it that will allow you to delete your old windows 2k partition.

if you just need to remove the "os" its not exctly ez or possible

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

by gettin the flw or fla file :)

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

resize the new screeen. close all other windows but the new resized one and then close it. usualy thats how you can make sure IE opens in the sized window you want

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

you just need to bootup with your recover disk and preform that, id suggest backing up any files and just popin the restore disk ^^

Zachery 43 The Geek Father Team Colleague

Harma can i suggest ditching IE and trying Mozilla Firebird? you should notice a big speed increuease. also its about time for a new computer if your still using 95b (USB SUPPORT!)
