...so, let's move it.
NASA estimates it will cost One Trillion dollars over ten years to reach Mars. Just think of what we could save!

Basics:
Aphelion 249,209,300 km
1.665 861 AU
Perihelion 206,669,000 km
1.381 497 AU
Semi-major axis 227,939,100 km
1.523 679 AU
Eccentricity 0.093 315
Orbital period 686.971 day
Volume 1.6318 × 1011 km³
0.151 Earths
Mass 6.4185 × 1023 kg
0.107 Earths
Mean density 3.934 g/cm³
Equatorial surface gravity 3.69 m/s²
0.376 g
Mars would be a handy place to:
Dump our nuclear waste.
Provide room for our exploding population.
Study astronomy without atmospheric distortion.
Deport residents of Red states (It's the Red planet).
Vacation.
Conduct dangerous experiments.
And others I haven't thought of.

How to go about it?
That's where you come in.
It seems to me we need to stop the rotation first, in order to apply directional force to change the orbit. I'm thinking many large rocket engines arranged along the equator (Fusion powered, of course).
Once the rotation is stopped, swivel the same rocket engines to apply force in the appropriate direction until an orbit similar to Earth's is achieved.
Your thoughts?

Zxor has it right:
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results here.

I bought my Dell 9" Mini with 9.04 installed and quickly switched to Netbook remix because Dell didn't support the 9.10 upgrade, a bad mistake on their part.
When I show it to people, they very quickly master the web interface, and often don't even realize it's running Linux.
Still, when I offer to install Linux on an older PC, or to set up a dual boot, people run screaming.
In one case, I gave away an older PC with 9.1 Ubuntu to a complete novice, and he's happily computing away without realizing other people use a different OS.
Fear rules the average windows user.

Yes, as long as the drives are the same type (PATA, SATA).

The date modified is acting as it's supposed to (You did modify it, after all).
The date created remains the same on my system. Are you saving under the same name in the same folder?

Have you tried running Hijack in Safe mode?

"Bill" is not an idiot, and he knows you want to preserve the dates on your files. You're looking at the "Date Modified", and Bill has accurately recorded your key strokes. Rt-click the column headings and add "Date Created" (And "Comments" if you wish.)
This utility will create a text file you can import into Excel(Or you can just use it as is, if you prefer:

This can also be done with DOS commands.

Please don't use any registry cleaners.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

These files are not destructive, just unnecessary.
Use CCleaner to remove temp files, avoid any and all registry cleaners as they are often wrong, and may damage your system.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Vista.
Re-install it, apply the updates and learn how to use it.
Even better, upgrade to Win 7.

Upgrading is both expensive and time consuming, and probably not worth it in most cases.

I made a mistake once...

Oh, dear me.
"Deel"? "Soundcard"?
Caperjack got it mostly right, though.
At the Dell site, use your service tag to identify the proper adapter, then download the driver.

I'd start with a virus/spyware scan.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

You can't. Use Start/Run/cmd
At the prompt "chkdsk /r"
You'll have to reboot.

OK, you see it, but what does it say about partitions, file type, space, etc.? (All drives are partitioned, it's just a matter of how many).

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

It sounds as though the drive needs to be formatted. You may have accidentally deleted the partition when you reinstalled.
What info do you see in Disk management?

A damn fine answer from kfawcett that will be much appreciated by many who don't quite know what's what with licences.

Maybe not so fine. In theory, a 3 user license won't allow installing on a fourth computer, if that's what the OP is stating.
It's quite possible to use an old drive in a new machine using XP's repair install, but the OP didn't say what OS.
I had the same problem with moving Office, but I just put in the CD to see what would happen, and it worked just as it should have.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

Yes.
In folder one, select all/rt-click/rename
Enter an appropriate name (i.e. my vacation)
All will be renamed "My vacation001, etc.
Irfanview also has a batch rename utility.

Yes. See the Help file:
"Add or remove a Windows Mail account

You can set up a variety of different accounts using Windows Mail. You can set up a single personal e‑mail account, or you might also add your work e‑mail account and some newsgroups as well. Windows Mail makes managing multiple accounts easy by putting each account in its own folder.

Windows Mail supports three types of accounts: mail, news (newsgroups), and directory services. Directory services are online address books that are typically offered by organizations such as colleges and businesses.

Before you add an account, be sure that you have the logon and server information for your e‑mail account. For details about the information you'll need to set up an account, see Where to find your e‑mail account information.

Make sure the C drive is selected as first in the boot order in the BIOS.
Does the D drive power up when the computer is turned on? You probably need to take off the cover so you can hear it properly. Touching the outside of the drive case may be sufficient.
It sounds as though this drive has failed, and your work may be lost unless you have big bucks for data recovery.
There are many ways to back up data, and you may have learned the hard way that one copy is not sufficient.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

Thanks Hugh, Gonna try that now.

I've only ever set up computer to connect to home network, I've never attempted to remove one. Should I just run the set-up wizard again ? I'm not really seeing the option where I can delete my entries, just gives me the option to 'open', 'explore' ... things like that. Not sure how to go about removing my connection. Any ideas?

You may have to disable the NIC, but try to change all the settings in Network Center first.
Change "Private" to "Public ", then back, etc.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

Vista is sometimes very stupid about networking.
Delete all the networking entries on one machine and set it yp again.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

What OS?
Is there a share on the laptop?

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

Does your wireless card have a switch? Make sure it's on.
Don't try re-seating the Nic on a laptop. It's not necessary.
Can you connect via ethernet? Is the Wireless Zero service running?
