hi
you should test it in another machine since that ram can be bugged due to static discharge . Ram is very sensitive but first test it on another machine
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

also make sure you put down thermal lubricant between the cpu and fan

I think you meant to say cpu and heat sink

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

when push comes to shaft, then youll be needing a new mobo/Laptop

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

A dog is truly a man's best friend.

If you don't believe it, just try this experiment.

Put your dog and your wife in the boot of the car for an hour.

When you open the boot, who is really happy to see you?

Now you know!!

start computer press del or f1(depending on your system)it will take you to a blue screen there should be a option for something temperature.it will indicate you how its performing.
!! its highly important to see if you have enough cooling in your system(see my previous post)

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

no problem
cheers

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

what you can do is sata the drive in someone else's system and see if it comes up.if it does than your drivers sure isnt rite.but if that doesnt work backup format and try again.if to no avail send back to company cos than its not working when in sata.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

is there any display?also tell me what fan is not spinning inside your box.
in the mean time make sure your video card is seated properly.
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

the two cd drives has nothing to do with cpu overheating.ohk then check your internal fans of your system make sure that your cpu fan is properly seated on heatsink. also your BIOS should give you an idea of computer(cpu) temp.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hope all goes good for you keep in touch though

the problem with the freezer idea is that drives and the files you want to save are to big ,the drive will be hot again in no time ,maybe ok if there is just one file you really need .

Ya I know you right, you get very limited time to retrieve your goodies

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hey guys

youre best bet is to go for data recovery pro's for your company's HD. if they want the data then they have to pay.thats the way I do it but only if the HD is completely dead with no other option
Good luck fella

Go into BIOS and run the SATA detection for the 750

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

thats rather sad than funny.I feel for you dude

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

my man it sure is difficult for us to situate ourself when it gets technical.you have your system on your side.how difficult can it be to open it if you have access to view the machine.were doing what we can

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

go to performance monitor and set it up to monitor cpu together with RAM usage.that way you can see if the RAM is causing your CPU to go crazy

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

The so called freezer idea actually worked for a buddy of mine after a day.replacing circuits worked for my manager once.he calls it luck... see if you can find any.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

if you know for sure that is the case and there is enough cooling on your CPU and system and downclocking is the only thing you can do (if you can)what makes you say thats the case my man

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

install REVOUNINSTALLER and remove office via this uninstall program.it will allow you to delete the registry of this files(stated in bold). go to the location where files was installed unhide all hidden files and delete.now install fresh copy of office 2003
Revo is the far better than the win add\remove programs i use it all the time

heres what you do
locate the following in registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
whilst Run is Highlighted in the right pane see if there is an entry conntaining Internet Explorer.if so right click it and delete it.
Remember to backup your registry before doing so
!!I take no responsibility for mis-use of instruction
if that doesnt work post a HiJackThis Log here

Im jealous thats great specs.lol.my best recommendation is to check what the manufacturer recommends for the board. Ill rather keep my opinions, dont wanna be responsible for something bad.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

HI and welcome
Still you didnt say what youre problem is.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

looking @ detailed specs on a website it can be power failures cos you only have a 350(400w) PSU.Test your system on a higher PSU. even though you operating on one gig memory its still possible.
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

well instructed rjpaje. If theres no detection of your HD in your machine and in your buddy's machine then your HD could be dead. to determine if its dead do this: hard drive as master(jumpered master) in your system, run detection in BIOS.in your buddy's machine, jumpered master and slave and detection in BIOS. if to no avail, can you feel a spinning on HD?does it make a noise?or is there no sign of anything
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

once BIOS was INTERRUPTED during upgrade you screwed. yogess77 your statement will only be of good help if masoud is wrong about BIOS.witch he clearly states that it was BIOS interruption

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there and welcome Legacy.I Honestly dont think theres a virus on your pc.According to your post you Id say you did incorectly name your HD's drive letters.Renaming drive letters the wrong way can cause a number of things and your problem sounds like the same. heres what you can do backup all data on another storage device format than partition drive with desired drive letters.Id recommend not changing it again.retrieve your data and leave like that

first load your BIOS defaults if that fails only then do you reset your BIOS by removing your cmos battery for a hour or so. heres how to remove your battery:open notebook youll see a round silver battery on systemboard remove it keep out for hour or more and replace

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Mr Wayne
If you comfortable with opening your notebook do so and check if all components and cables/wires is in place with no cracks in system board and cards.if all looks good with no components removed, than do a BIOS reset restart and see how it behaves
Very very poor services from Harvey Norman

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hey the Dude youre a maven here how about you giving it a go

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Data wont be removed by a reset infact it doesnt touch your hd but you can remove your HD if it makes you feel more secure
how to reset:1 remove your cmos battery from your motherboard keep it out for a half an hour or so(the longer the better)replace and restart.
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

thanks for the responds guys.Im sure of that microsoft had made that default restrictions for a reason, but if it can be changed id prefer it the changed way(they spoiled the users in xp with few resrictions, why now).Ill do what you said iftitaj and see if its behaving much friendlier and post results.
Thanks my man

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
when does your pc hang what do you mean after reboot my friend.specifics please my man

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
By reading your post its most likely that your internal battery was malfunctioning for a while before it just gave up on you.by replacing the internal battery you might find that it was malfunctioning indeed.Worse case scenario say your mobo is kapoot you can still get your data since it is on your hard drive

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there i'm a nooby but just got a new xps 730 and oc'd it so i thought i'd try it on my amd 4200 msi mobo 7900gs 750gb hdd radeon chipset 2 gb ddr2@800 . i could only up mhz from 2oo to 216 (small step) dram from 800mhz to 1g,saved it now tower powers up but just have a black screen no response to anything ? any suggestions? plz help it's school holidays and boys are hating me atm.

Did you try and overclock your memory if thats the case a simple BIOS reset may fix your prob.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

ohk then make sure all your parts is seated correctly like your graphics card also swap out the ram one by one it can eighter be your ram or graphics card.but do also make sure your cpu is seated firmly ass well.
if all fails post the beeps here.how long it beeps number of beeps etc
?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

this is most likely a mobo failure and needs to be replaced.but first try getting real technical if you feel comfortable with your machine and make sure that there is no lack of power what so ever ie braking cable or checking battery cable to machine etc.
if all else fails than you should consult dell about your problem.
[ill do some further research for you in spare time]

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Power Supply Unit(PSU) aka Power Supply. If you can get a power supply to borrow for testing you will be able to see if the problem is with the power supply or not. Also do check your RAM,theres a good chance its your RAM if it aint your PSU.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

ohk it was so 8 years ago and Ive I got a new pc from my dad.back then i didnt know much about computers.
so a year after using my brand new computer I got a computer freeze, boy oh boy what do I do now.so I restarted the machine after doing some activity...and there it goes again. No one could help me eighter, not even some entry level tech guys.so after sitting with that problem everyday for a half an hour or so FOR ATLEAST 3 MONTHS {I know its embarassing} I figured oh yell why not open the the piece of plastic.and that I did.
Having the tower open and looking for broken parts took me atleast ANOTHER MONTH.
So finally at one point I found that the fan on the CPU was slightly loose.so I stuck a piece of wood againts the tower plate to presure the fan
....And whola up untill this point it never froze again.

I have a new pc now but the older one is still in my house with the wood, reason: thats my IT pride(the piece of wood ya),after that I immediately felt a passion for IT.strange I know.
Its actually funny thinking about it now.LOL

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi all
I want to start introducing myself as a IT technician, ive been in the field for 5years.
I must say IT is a very GREAT field to be in, but well @ some point and time we all face that problem in our careers where we struggle perhaps for days.that problem that makes you angry, sad, drives you really crazy.I sure did face it already a number of times.

Well I figured why not post that one problem that really played with here by using the following format:
1. what happened
2.how the problem rattled you
3.what you did to fix it

By doing so people will be able to refer to this thread to get fast information.

ohk ill go first[please dont laugh]
:D

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi pam
What caused your problem last time to behave the way it did and what did you do to fix it back then.
by reading this post it might be not enough cooling or faulty mobo.
Try being more specific

Hey Dani Peeps
Im currently using MS WIN XP because im one of the users prefering XP over VISTA.part of the reason is the restrictions.for instance when copying something and paste it,it asks are you sure amongst other "high" security.
My question is,is there perhaps a way how one can change the registry so that VISTA dont have to be so "strict"??and if there is how and where
[if that is an illegal Q to ask here please inform me ]

thanks in advance

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Make sure that the RAM (and everything else) is fully seated in the slots. Even if it is just slightly loose the motherboard can get finicky.

Try what the previous poster said by first removing it and inserting it back in-firmly.if that fails id replace it with the old RAM just to see if its still behaving the same
