It can be a number of things thats causing it t behave the way it does but its reasonable its cd/dvd drw.
get a higher wattege PSU (for testing) and see how it behaves.are you running xp?and how much ram do you have my friend

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
strong possibily is PSU so id suggest getting one for a test.also according to the graphic card specs have you checked the PSU req. by the graphic card.your ram looks fine but it all comes down to the specs of the card.so do that and drop me a post

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

btw after a whole bunch more time searching around, i finnaly went and did a hardware check, i pulled out 1 of my gigs of ram, same shit happened. i put in the other gig of ram replacing the one that was in, start up my comp and... 100% perfection. i then tried the suspected faulty pos ram by putting it back in slot 2... blue screen of death within minutes of the comp starting. so now im talking to ibuypower about there pos ram that they sent me on my new comp. ty for ur help.
btw in all this it really help u understand your computer when you are forced to research problems urself, i found that faulty ram cuasses just about every error from other components/drivers to crash which seem to be the problem. misleading to the root of the problem cuased me to troubleshoot for 3 weeks.

tell me about it...sometimes exciting and sometimes Really frustrating

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

try running registry cleaner like regcure or registry doctor the problem might lie in the registry

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
first of tell me why do say or what makes you say its your cd/dvd writer??
also post your PSU wattage

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
sounds like a virus run your anti virus program and see what it can detect and delete also pay special attention to the ones it cannot delete if so post it here

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

sounds fair and reasonable.also my apologies if my explination didnt sound firmiliar @ first. in SA they call hings sometimes diffrent to what you guys call it

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

You can go to the following location and manually delete the file in the following location C:\Documents and Settings\Mark C\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\59WQ5G7I\dreamy_setup[1].exe
what i usually do is delete all temporary files cos some viruses tend to make them selfs @home in the location.
See how it behaves after that

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

you dont know what virtual machine is?lol...thats news.its almost like virtual server 2000/2003 where you can run the program that acts as a independant OS,but its actually "piggy backing" on the actual OS. witch in my case virtual machine95(windows 95) is "piggy backing" on windows xp(my real OS).I hope you understand...
ohk.So I had 512mb ram upgraded it to 1gig I thought that was going to be enough but looks like its not.anyway I thought that maby someone would be firmiliar with it. thanks anyways

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

ohk. no prob

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hey
ram can sumtimes be very tricky so check that your new ram has the folowing
RAM type-DDR2 PC4200
also you only have 2 slots cos otherwise check weather you have dual channel.

Im running Virtual Machine95 on a XP machine.the xp machine has 1 gig ram 80gig Hard drive and a 2.0 ghz cpu.everytime the user uses the VM95 he gets the error massage out of memory error.I then need to restart the VM program. I did increase the ram size on the Virtual machine they recommend 256 mb,I made it the recommendation and also increased/decreased it. The file paging size I've also changed to different size's. The poblem happens so ones or twice a week. But its a small bugger that I would like to fix
Anyone with any other suggestions...
Thanks dani peeps

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hi there
firstly you can do as the bigo mentioned, that is to reset the bios. after that see if you can go in windows by using safe mode. if thats a failure do a chkdsk by putting your sata in another machine(dont make it the boot drive though)
if all fails try to remember what you did before these events accured and post it here
cheerz 4 knw

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
welcome back
Slave youre HD in another machine and run a check disk.alternatively manually remove installed drivers that was installed last that you think might have caused the prob.you can try installing it again at a late stage.
?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
what happens when you go into windows by using safe mode?does it perform a freeze?... if you can go into safe mode then go into event viewer and see if you can find anything unusual.
furthermore run a chkdsk on your machine by using recovery console
?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Jen Lee
get hold of your windows xp cd.insert it in your cd/dvd drive. make your cd/dvd your first boot(ask someone to help you if you have difficulty)hit enter when asked to boot from cd and in Recovery Console perform a chkdsk on your hard drive
---ask someone to assist you if you not comfortable---
good luck

when logged in on the machine after idleing for a while and upon some activity the machine restarts itself.when I checked event viewer and gave me the following bugcheck error:

'The computer was rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000d1 (0xff55e000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xed0f6f2d). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: C\WINNT\Minidump\Mini011503-02.dmp.'

Hi there

There about 14 things in the registry they would not clean.

What do you mean with the above quote.if it is viruses then post the names of them.theres no use continuing troubleshooting with viruses on your system
?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

cool man. you're a winner...well done

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

please do that mr coolio

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

my friend I really want to help you here, and i wont find rest until I know for sure your mobo is bugged.
....you say you can now go into safe mode again...is it running smooth without problems when in safe mode?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

mind me asking why didnt you install the OS while the hard drive was on the current motherboard.
My friend its realy difficult to determine where the problem lies if you switch out parts.I was thought you would install the OS while in its old board for detecting drivers of hardware etc.that would have been wise

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

ok, here is the update. I formatted the hardrive and replace the motherboard. Same results, this thing will shut down during boot up. Now I can atleast get back into safe mode. I am about ready to give up.

What do youve replaced the motherboard?did you do a clean windows install on the old (problem mobo).cos thats what I recommended

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

That is a alternative option, however you said when trying to boot from cd you get the same error so then that wouldn't be in hands reach for now.
Further more, you should have a look at your hard drive.see if you can get hold of another hard drive(for testing) and then see if you can install a OS on it.
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Marie that link might be bad try this one here

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
A HighJackThis(HJT) is a log(almost like in notepad form) that gives you all processes running on your machine. You get a HighJackThis log by installing the HighJackThis program that you can get http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=5554&file=15&evp=4122712c2af084c815e5fd4f2b249d83"]here[/URL]

By pasting the log here i can then help you to see if you have malware.
if you have any difficulty post reply

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

the mobo specs usually state the size of it asswell. So if the size is right and air circulation, obviously appropriate fans then its all good

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

it might be something in your registry, run registry mecanic and regcure

did the incomplete control panel etc accure immediately after format or did it happen a day or so after
??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

plug the hard drive in another machine as a secondary drive and do a chkdsk f/.see how it behaves afterwords.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hey there
Unplug the dvd drive and see if you can bring your pc up.also did you try swapping out your ram sticks
????

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hey
try this:insert the xp disk go into bios, make the boot sequence to detect the cd rom drive (dvd drive) first.press enter when asked to boot from cd.
if all goes well first do a windows repair

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

boy oh boy thats sad

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hey There
first make sure that your video card is firmly connected with the signal cable intact with connector.if you have more than one RAM stick swap it around in the slots.also test your hard drive in another machine.
???????

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

post a hijack this log

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hey
(posting in the wrong place)
what makes you think its a virus-what happens?

you say you delete or quarantine the viruses trojans etc.can you give me the name of the viruses or trojans,or weather it is a virus or trojan etc.in the mean time run regcure i dont know the size but its less than 5mb

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
sounds like malware, tell me did you do a clean install meaning did you format your whole drive lost all data and started from scratch

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hi
go to device manager and see if it displays there if it does go to the dvd drive itself and change the regional code by going into the properties of the drive

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
first off,I really like your mobo with all its componants and specs.
I fully agree with what mr compdoc since you have dual channel ram slots.alternatively I dont know if that would cause your mobo to be kapoot.Ill get back to you with some info....

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

^I like your display pic

<me...dont have one

V man where you @

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

is your sweety(computer)still going good?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

did it work harman?if not try remembering the last actions before the computer started behaving funny

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

sittas87:

When I switched drives in these computers it was the only drive that it could boot off of. The suspected bad hardrive booted up perfectly in the known good computer, and the known good hardrive would not boot in the bad computer. Hope I haven't confused you, I'm already getting confused writing it. LOL

Ohk im with you,all right looks to me like your computer wants to desert you,and now you cant even get into safe mode...lets try the alternative please...lets format(not a fan but lets do it). remember if a format doesn't work then you can almost be certain that its your mobo cos all will then be default
PS i know you pretty much doubt a format, but what else do you have to loose...and theres limited options
Also, backup your data first buddy and post reply after format.

I am facing the same problem in my notebook & when I took it to service center they said the same thing.

believe me I immediately told myself that I had a bugged mobo when I faced the problem but that comp(with its old mobo) is still running good.It just shows you with computers the prob aint always the same darn thing-always find it funny

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Buxtreme it will be realy helpfull if you can try to remember what you did/what had happened before the problem accured.Yes it might be your mobo but lets try to determine that for sure.also when you say you get no response do you mean theres no cpu fan spinning?is the power supply fan spinning?disconnect and reconnect the power supply from the mobo ass well

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Bob,
I ended up just restoring the laptop to factory setting (or a PC repair company did)

thats what I would suggest mr bob,but first try a chkdsk then a windows repair is chkdsk fails

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hey harman
try removing your cmos, while cmos is out keep in your power button for 10 seconds or so replace your cmos and see what happens.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I dont exactly know what was did to caused the problem.if it was the network config then specifics on what you did will explain. never the less,See if it is as simple as a system restore,if it fails,go to computer management and view resources by type to see if you if you're NIC and graphics card has a IRQ assigned
