Have u ever used ur laptop while keeping on bed, because of this heat doesnt come out properly...

well wotever u r telling there might be some problem in motherboard.

the possibility of a bugged mobo is there but what im trying to do is rule it out by strongly advicing what ive mentioned in my post.
I have delt with the problem before and luckily for my company it was the OS.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

install another anti virus and while actively on the net monitor your machine for a day or so to see if if the prob had found its rest

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

The hardrive will operate in another computer. Fires right up. Therefor I do not think a clean install will help me.

your hard drive that was put in another machine wasn't made the master(boot up drive), or was it-dont think so.if thats the case then it wasn't using your hard drives OS.Ill recommend that you try what I said.

VM does give you a recommended max limit witch is 764 mb recommended limit 64mb.Ive played around with it for the sake of troubleshooting with no success

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Yes, a lot of these free tools are unworthy as you'll end up with a scrambled data restore.

if you know what you want then it shouldn't be a prob.but yeah you right

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

k, my bad ill inform after gathering the info @work

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I believe is has a cause with malware...

if it happened before than I would rule out malware for now

OK, I have been working with this unit all day. I have switched power supply, memory, every board in the pci slots, and hardrive. The only thing I think it can be now is either the processor or the mother board.

Try the following in its order:1.system restore
2.chkdsk by using recovery console
3.windows repair
4.if all else fails try a clean install coz after all you are looking in the direction of new motherboard or CPU=clean install (I dont believe in format but sometimes thats the only way)

REASON:some of your windows files might be corrupt

???????????

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

is it only happening when you surfing the net or in your normal windows explorer ass well

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

if all else fails you should run a virus scan

I have a network of 65 workstations about 30 of them is connected to the email server.all was going well up until a week ago.I haven't made any changes(that I know of)-our second network admin also claims not to have changed anything.I did check for changes though and in the brief pressured moment found nothing.
Like I said users are complaining they are receiving emails that was send by to them five hours ago already. There is no sign that my server is causing the delay(it might be but where do I look if its keeping it hanging for the amount of time).
remember it happens on different machines.
If someone can provide me with some things I can look at Ill appreciate it

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
I hope I've placed my thread in the right place.
Can someone tell me why is it that people(outside the network) are sending users (sometimes it happens to me ass well) in my network mail but it they only get it 5 hours or so later(time varies)

Any suggestions is gladly appreciated
Thanx in advance

Heres what the problem was and what I did
refering to my previous post the user did a shutdown on his machine while the computer was doing a virus scan. After concluding the problem I realised that there was indeed two small viruses and one trojan on his machine. The antivirus program was going to remove it but because he did a shutdown not only didn't it detect/repair it but also corrupted the registry because it was busy scanning some system files at current(as he told me afterwards)

So I had 2 viruses and a trojan and a malfunctioning registry.I went in using safe mode and ran the virus scans, after some research I installed both registry fix and Registry Mechanic and had it run a registry repair atleast 3 times with both programs

Up until this point everything is still running fine.Ill be sending the users machine back to day

Thanx though
sittas

Hi all
I was wondering if someone can help me.I have a hard drive that is under the influence of virus es(and probably some other mean creatures.lol)and perhaps has corrupted windows files.the HD is slaved in my machine @ the moment

Heres what happened:the client came to me and defined what his problem was I immediately recognized the problem as a virus.gave him the anti virus softies,he installed and ran it on his system.while the scan was running for some reason he did a shutdown on his machine. Ever since then whenever he started his machine it came up tremendously slow, after the log in the processor would work amazingly hard(85-100%) without any user processors running. after five minutes or so it will cool of,however when you do something after a couple of seconds it will freeze.
Note:the num lock/caps lock can go on/of-mouse movement is there but thats it

I am scanning the drive at the moment but if anyone knows of software that can fix it or what it might be I will gladly appreciate it.working under tight schedule

Thanx Dani peeps ;)

Its wise to startup in safe mode that is if you have a anti virus already installed,Because last time I trie to install a program in safe mode (anti virus program) in safe mode it came up with a restriction saying that its cos Im in safe mode.

If the same happens to you then first do a windows repair so you can atleast get back in normal windows.
If you dont know how, drop a post
cheers and good luck

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Well done
You're the hero here, but it was afterall what I had in mind.

according to my knowledge and what you have said,id say that there is some connectors not making firmly contact with one another.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I dont think a preinstalled disk would work as the OS has to beinstalled again on your new HD. reason being the OS will be configured according to your mobo and other system specifications. It wont recognise your mobo if it was preinstalled in another machine. So the best thing to do is use a USb drive big enough to install windows again on to your Hard Disk.

Raj

you come to the same thing as what im trying to tell carguy(just in a shortcut). remember theres also no detection in cd/dvd drives.doing the boot startup will also detect the drive/s. I was using the longer way cos of assuming him not having a bigger flash

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I did some research and windows describe the file as essential(fair enough),but that it can also contain trojans, viruses etc.

I wasnt firmiliar back then with the conime.exe file, but like I said it is a known victim of trojans, virsuses etc.

cool

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hope it does the trick for you
Good luck

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

create the BOOT disk on a USB and see if it will detect the USB.by using the BOOT disk your system will then be able to detect your drives.try it pelky

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

have you run any virus scans

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Mr John Im not saying its impossible but it is not most likely. If you prefer to format it,do so but remember if you format and after a while it does the same thing than it would be obvious would'nt it....

[Im talking out of personal experience]
I mean no harm:-p

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

according to my knowledge and what you have said,id say that there is some connectors not making firmly contact with one another. I read what you said that the AC is firm(it might seem so though),id recommend gently playing with the AC input-connection.you can also take of the laptop cover and see small pins wires etc. @ the AC input on laptop is in place. since you have the time
Good luck-post reply when done

cant access your link

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

you have access to more than one computer test it on a different system to get faster results

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

if you're firmiliar with what the problem was and what he did to fix it please post it here for reference for the users in your shoes

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

If what I said above didnt work then you should strongly look in the direction of getting a new drive for cd burners.because then the problem lies within the drive itself.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

go to services(run->services.msc) and stop and restart the following services:
-logical disk manager
-Plug and Play
See if it works and post reply

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

do run spyware and virus checks preferably in safe mode.its most likely that your machine is suffering from malicious attacks

cheers and Good Luck

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

have you tried starting in safe mode and doing a system restore if not id recommend that you do

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi there
Im wondering if it is malware.personally i doubt it is
reason:if you going to format everything is going to be fine, coz the cpu doesn't work much -not alot of programs is installed.but as time progress you obviously install more programs resulting in much more workload.
what im trying to say is maby your processor is struggling with the workload. Consider the possibility
what is your processor,RAM and bus specs. and your computing purpose

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

create the above mentioned on a usb.it is advisable because the disk will detect all hardware

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

get a boot disk here(place the boot program on a floppy or usb) make the boot sequence according to your boot device example floppy. allow it to boot from the source at next startup.
this is to re-detect all hardware devices including cd drive

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

get a boot disk here insert at next boot up allow it to run through, when the boot detection is done just type your drive path for cd/dvd example D:
browse to the setup.exe by typing it in accordingly.
should work

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I hear what you're saying but I dont think you completely understand what I am trying to tell you, therefore I just want to explain again:
scenario:
say for instance you have a folder in the root of your C drive(witch is shared) named bob that contains a file named bob1 with permissions to read only to the bob folder. And a second folder also in the Root of your C drive called cat that contains a file named cat1 with the change permission to the cat folder.
[so thats two standalone folders-meaning both have its own permissions]
But say now you copy the file cat1 to the folder bob than that means that the file will inherit the read permission

this might or might not be the issue, but is most likely.to conclude your determination you can create a folder outside the folders from where you working with files, give it higher permission, move it to where all you're regular files is and see if the permission limits you without you making that changes

[hope all is clear]

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

do you have a name of the trojans, see if you can get the names.get back to me and ill help you

you say you have the problem with both IE an FF but you can try the following it might just work for both your browsers

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

firefox 2.0 is like candy in heaven, but do what was mentioned disable all firewalls,if it works immediately close your browser and re-secure it to a user friendly/protective way

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Ill just rephrase what you said(no disrespect)
-you say all configurations is in tact within IE- connection options
-you ping and get successfull packets sent and receive
-Configurations on network settings itself(TCP/IP) is accordingly

what you can also check:
-on the server side check if his account to access internet isnt locked out. no more permission
-set all IE options to default firewalls etc in IE options
restart after changes

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

try another drive to test if its going to take the same action.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

have you reset your BIOS.remove CMOS battery for a hour or so.replace and restart.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

fair enough

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

It is most likely that your older hard drive and cd/dvd drive is still good

alternatively get a boot disk at http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
write it to a floppy disk>change your BIOS to boot from floppy first>at startup insert the disk> it will boot from the disk detecting your drives HD CD/DVD DRIVE etc.when done it will stop at a:/

from there perform a restart and see if it detects your drives.

when restarting remove the floppy and make your first boot your cd/dvd drive (in BIOS) insert your Operating disk cos you gonna need a operating system on new hard drive
