yes sp3 is safe to load ,Try changing the auto updateds setting to something else! or if you have IE installed ,just open IE and go tools and windows updates

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

i tried CCleaner, it seems like a good free software, however, it didnt work, i finally used restore point utility of windows xp, and restored the system to yesterday, it worked.

if you had deleted the programs folder from the c:\program files folder ,ccleaner would /should have cleaned it from the registry !

you can remove it by avg or macfee.

i think that's what poster 2 and 3 said!
so i will add this .

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Download the update from here if you have problems.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

The log can also be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

Make sure that you restart the computer.

Will be fine for data, just dont try and install windows on it, it wont like it.

A laptop HDD in an enclosure will be smaller and (may) not require external power.

agree !
my laptop harddrive case has 2 usb plugs one for data one for power! i paid 25$ cdn for enclosure and picked up a 40gig hdd for free !

over 3.5 million downloads ,it don't need a review !
maybe you should load on some of the nastier trojans out there, ,run scan and get it to fix you computer and then you will have something to add to your review , i ran scan it found 1725 error i ran ccleaner reg scan it found 25,if i my test computer running i would have let it fix them just to see what would happen!
I can say with almost 100% certainty that this or any registry program would not have helped me fix[avoid formatting] the 50 or so computer that i have to format in the past year

There are no yellow exclamation marks in Device manager and under Network Devices I have :
1 1394 Netadapter
2 intel R 82566 DC GB Network connection
Not sure what make and model is as this is a friends pc who had it built about 3 years ago.

The simple answer is

A 1394 Net Adaptor Connection is basically Win2k/XP's way of telling you that you have a Firewire interface installed in your system.

IEEE 1394 is more commonly known as Firewire and is mostly used to connect to peripherals such as digital cameras, camcorders and some external hard drives. It can also be used to network two Firewire-equipped systems together, achieving 12.5 to 50MBps transfer speeds. Firewire networking use is limited because of its 15ft cable length limitation.]

and the intel R82566 is the wired onboard device ,as hughv said neither are wireless devices

Gaining access to your old data depends on which version of XP you are on.
It is easier if you are running XP Pro, but can be done in XP Home also.
No need to reinvent the wheel, so we'll use the Resolution info on this Microsoft page.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810881
To resolve this issue, you must turn off Simple File Sharing, and then take ownership of the folder:
1. Turn off Simple File Sharing:
a. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
b. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
c. Under Advanced Settings, click to clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box, and then click OK.
2. Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.
3. Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message, if one appears.
4. Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
5. In the Name list, click your user name, Administrator if you are logged in as Administrator, or click the Administrators group.

If you want to take ownership of the contents of that folder, click to select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.
6. Click OK.

You may receive the following error message, where Folder is the name of the folder that you …

attachments are so small ,i still only see cpu usage and page file usage in yours, looks just like my single core ,did you check device manager and see if it showed 2 processors there .

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Yours is definitely running only one of the cores. Are you certain you have the cpu you think you have?
Right click on My Computer and select Properties and it should tell you what cpu you have.

and go one farther and go into device manager and check processor ,if 2 show in list you have 2 ,i think ,read 2 different definitions ,one say duel core and one said it meant hyper threading was set !

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

What's your budget? I'd expect most such products that work over the network will be commercial, that is, $$$ products.

I use Belarc Advisor for personal purposes. They make a network product, it's kinda pricey. http://www.belarc.com/belmanage.html

looks more like a management tool than a hardware diagnostic tool! ,been looking[from time to time ] for a good free one for years, for personal use,im not a it tech ,never found one yet
