hi never heard of you program ,but try looking in its install folder in c:\program files and look for a uninstall file.
also check services and see if it runs as a service ,if so double click it and disable it . type this[services.msc] into run to get to services if you don't know another way

I have an HP Pavillion dv8305 us and just upgraded the memory from 512 to 2Gig. Now that the new memory is in place the operating system (XP) will not boot up. I keep getting recycled back to the black and white screen where I have the option to start Windows in Safe Mode, Normal Mode, Last Good Configuration, etc.

Any thoughts?

THANKS!

what dose it do when you try it without the new ram

does not matter which topic is first. Just so it is easy to find commands. Eg networking commands, file commands etc. For me it makes it easier to find the command I want if it is grouped, especially if there is command that I cannot remember the name of.

oh!, i get it now ,sorry brain fart! a hard thing to find so far!

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

I want them grouped in topic area. Thanks.

I cant undrestand why you dont find my peroblem.I remove my partion and reinstall for about more 7 times but never ask me about serialnumber .I want to find why it dosent ask me about it?I hope you understand finally.

perhaps you are using a bootleg copy of windows you downloaded from the net , with the serial number slipstreamed into the disk, or are you using a legit copy of xp that came with you computer and its in the disk too!
who is the manufacture of your computer .
go to mycomputer ,then help in top tool bar,and click on is this copy of windows legal!

When my system with Windows XP Log on and automatically Log Off

what is th problem

it could be a bad power supply or it could be software problem even a hardware, problem like bad ram!,the list goes on and on!
but the most likely cause is virus/trojan related .the fix depends on who you get to look at it for you .
hitting f8 on startup can you get into safe mode to run virus scan

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Like ali.dll is destroyed or doesnt find

ali.dll is a trojan/virus or results from a trojan !maybe .

sounds like it could be a bad power supply ,even though it powers the cpu fan ,it can still be bad

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

With time and patience I will hopefully fix this one and feel like I have accomplished something.

And that the way it should be ,for me i remove the fan and throw them away ,for that all i know, and i know my limits!

thank you for your response : I understand that taking time to fix a power supply is not cost effective but I wanted to learn a bit about electronics and a power supply is a lot less complicated than other components of a computer. I am a custom pc builder but a mechanic by trade and computers have become my hobby. I have built two custom PC's with Ultra power supplies and understand that this model Ultra in question is a poor design. Guess I will just toss it and move on. Thanks again Sparkie54

are you aware that its dangerous and a risk of shock to open and work within a power a supply ,as it hold power after its unplugged

yes!you can be caught

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

seemed like a good idea & I tried that w/ a WinXP-Home edition. However this also could not see beyond 32GB. Eventually I formatted it as 32 GB and just left it as that. I have no idea why I lost the full 120 GB but I've given up playing with it.

you can partition it into 4x 32 gb partitions and have use of the whole drive

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

take hard drive to computer shop ,get them to save your pictures and stuff and then format and reload windows!all i can say

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

slave it to a working xp computer and format it in xp's diskmanager

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

don't delete as they are windows service pack related files/folders.
they are hidden folders ,hidden for a reason

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

as it is said sounds hardware .but maybe software/driver conflict that a reinstall of windows would fix !
i have a compaq laptop that will not turn on[most tries] with out removing the battery ,replacing it ,then plugging in power cord and it works every time, i do this

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

you could maybe do a repair install with the widows disk

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

well if the mouse is on the screen then it booted ,just with problems !
can you do alt+ctrl+del and bring up windows task manager when you are that far!
,or on boot up hit f8 to see if you get safe mode option

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

nLite got the job done.Thank You .

your welcome

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

I did think about that but then I have got a lot of files to copy over - aroudn 40/50 gb - plus once I've moverd my music, iTunes won't be able to find it (because it's rubbish).

i guess you could make a short cut on you desktop and direct it to the folder were the files are now located !
or maybe someone who mad the same mistake you have made, will have a fix for you ,sorry

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

why not just copy and paste the files to where windows wants to look for them .ie:C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents.
and you did a windows repair install ,not a system restore!

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

use nlite to slipstream it much easier!
http://www.nliteos.com/index.html

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Is this accurate....sounds to easy.

only if the computer has a partition on the hdd with the recover on it ,will this work ,you can try by hitting f11 on startup ! it won't byte you .lol

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Im wondering why this would be? the drive isnt that old so i cant imagine that it has died

they sure can !

is it possible that a virus could have done this?

yes it is ,what you need to try is plugging another hdd into his computer to see if it will see it !

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

fixed it, and it was a laptop, so no pci cards!

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague
caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Most laptops nowadays come with a hidden restore partition. Usually you hit some button during boot (sometimes f11?)

check your manuals

most laptops today prompt you to create recovery dvd's when you first turn it on ,or you go into start all programs ans system recovery /recover disk creator or something like that,if you missed it the first time ,

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

i came across this problem just last night ,friend tried 3 different drive also ,and got errors ,i ran memtest 86 and it had one bad stick of ram .

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

if the drives were used before you don't need to create a partition just format the partition that is already there is good enough ,if the 3 drives you tried were all new ,maybe yes you would need to create a partition first
!
3 different disk all saying the disk may be corrupt !
maybe its refereeing to you windows disk being corrupt and not able to copy files ,maybe you could borrow a disk and try it
