wow ,last thing you should have done before trying to recover all lost files was reinstall winxp on the drive .
as gerbil said always use copy ,not move when putting files from one drive to the other .

hi, one year old ,maybe a heat problem ,do you keep it cleaned using a can of compressed air to clean the fan and heatsinc may help ,helps with the 3 we have here,and others that i do for family and friends

i have a toshiba satellite l3550-s7901,it was working fine,did not use it for a while now when i turn it on i see the f2 and f12 toshiba screen and then a long beep never stops at all,it wont boot into the hdd

one long beep is ram or video ,cant do much about video ,so try removing the little cover on the bottom and taking out the ram stick and re-installing them .

the board supports Intel i7/i5/and i3 ,quick look ,starting with the specs on the board link it will all work together ,

if you remove the battery ,plug in the power adapter charger ,you laptop should turn on ,if not then maybe something wrong with the power adapter/charger

,if that doesn't work try safe mode ,if that works go to control panel/ add and remove programs ,click to show all windows updates along the top ,uninstall latest updates ,hope you can get into safe mode ,good luck

a few searches of google show some regedit fixes for similar problems ,maybe the long name can be edited in the registry

folder.jpg is created for the folder thumbnail or as in the music folder for album cover art and other such thumbnails

when you bought your laptop and first turned it on you would have/should have been pronpted to make recovery dvd's for future use ,time like now ,

so if it only slow ,i would first go to control panel and programs and uninstall programs you no longer use ,,next clean harddrive of temp file and othewr crap .

do slot drives mean ,a card reader ,if so shut off computer ,dissconnect card reaader from the motherboard [not that hard really .then see if xp will let you change drive letter ,winxp may even reasign letters by itself after a reboot ,]

did you install drivers for you sound device ,winxp usually dosen't install sound drivers ,check device mnanager to see if sound drivers are installed

likely cause is the 2 different drives ,you should for best results not mix and match drives when in a raid ,the Samsung ecogreen is slower than the seagate , the raid will work at the speed of the slowest drive
