I have a Lacie Electron 22BlueIV monitor (CRT). Last night while I was watching a TV show on it, the screen went to black but the audio continued. I jiggled the mouse and pushed a few keys but the picture wouldn't come back. I shut the computer down and rebooted. The picture finally came back but for only a few minutes. This happened several times before I finally shut it down for the night. I did notice that the monitor was getting very hot, but I've had this device for a few years. Today it seems to be working fine, …

I'm having problems with a Toshiba Satellite A305-S. The AC converter that is 19v/3.95A doesn't even bring the charging light on. I have tried a Toshiba 19v/3.42A converter. It brings on the charging light, momentarily tries to bring the hard drive on and runs the fan. The monitor stays black the whole time. Is it possible that this second converter doesn't have enough juice to bring the monitor on? I'm trying to decide whether to buy a replacement converter and battery for this computer or that's a waste of money. I've checked the hard drive by pulling it and attaching …

Hi there, I am having quite an upsetting problem with a new monitor I have bought and wonder if anyone can help me out. I do graphics work and so I needed to purchase a larger monitor because I was killing my eyes on the 13inch new MacBook screen. I needed something affordable and so did some research and stumbled upon the BenQ2220HD monitor. Very good reviews, reliable brand, etc. Somehow it didn't come with a DVI-D cable so had to purchase it. Purchased a 5m cable, thought this was the norm and plugged it in. The monitor was going …

Hi. About a year ago, a friend helped build me a new PC using some old PC parts he had. It worked great up until now, though. So today, I leave the computer to grab something to eat from the fridge, but when I come back, I find my monitor display all... scrambled. I guess that's the way to describe it. So I ry to ctrl al del, then alt-tab, and I get nothing. I assumed it was my computer, so turned it off and then back on. However, immediately, my monitor began to display "no signal". I checked the …

Here's what I'm trying to accomplish: Two computers - the first is a home desktop that has USB and PS2 hook-ups. The second is a laptop with a docking station that only has usb hook ups. I'd like to have share the same mouse, keyboard, two monitors, printer and speakers between the two computers. I've figured that part out BUT what I want to know is if there is a way to get what I really really want which is to that same setup BUT with three monitors and somehow have my laptop and phones be able to send to …

Long story short, my little cousin turned on the computer, don't know how long it was on but when I found it there was no display. It's a compaq presario originally had windows ME but it was upgraded to XP. Since I plugged the screen to my laptop and it worked fine I moved on to find the issue on the computer. Reset the mobo battery, no result. This computer has a dedicated video card and no integrated video card so no way to connect the monitor directly to the MOBO. I took the video card off, cleaned off the …

This it only for people who are running a DUAL Monitor system. I wrote a sample program to display what occurs. No matter which button I click on (Primary Display OR Secondary Display), the JOptionPane will pop up on the Primary Display. What I would like to happen is... If I click on the button on the Primary Display, pop up JOptionPane on the Primary Display. If I click on the button on the Secondary Display, pop up the JOptionPane on the Secondary Display (instead of the Primary Display). 1. How can I get the JOptionPane to pop up on …

This clears up once windows launches (which is the odd part) ... but on initial boot - before the splash screen and until the windows logo pops up - the screen is so fuzzy/distorted as to be unreadable. I'd reflash IF I COULD SEE THE DAMNED THING WELL ENOUGH TO SEE WHAT I WAS DOING !!!!! Sound like a BIOS issue, a southbridge issue, or none of the above?

Alright, so, recently the monitor I've been using has died. Whenever I try to turn it on, it automatically enters stand-by mode. I looked this problem up on my laptop and got an answer that said I either need a new monitor, or something is wrong with the motherboard. I have a PC input on my TV, and thought I might be able to figure out if it's the monitor, or the motherboard using this. I hooked in the 2006 Dell laptop with the wire and it worked fine, then when I tried using the same wire for the 2006 …

Hi there, My computer has been working fine until this morning when it froze shortly after logging into Windows (mouse/keyboard unresponsive and frozen display etc). I switched the computer off and on again, and from this point my monitor has been displaying a 'no signal' message when the machine is powered on. I've tried running it without external/usb devices and the same thing happens. All lights inside and outside the machine are behaving normally as are fans. All cables are in properly (cable into back of monitor was loose but the problem persisted after tightening it). The computer doesnt beep …

So i recently dug my dad's old computer out of the garage and fired it up. Since i didn't have a monitor yet, i borrowed the one off my dad's current computer the first few times. Everything was working just fine and no problems. Then 2 days later, i got an older monitor from my brother for free. I tried using it, but it kept going into sleep mode. I did a little tinkering around and figured out that the computer doesn't even need to boot up for this to happen. The second i plug the monitor into the computer, …

I'm having an issue with my Dell Dimension 5100 desktop. After running for several minutes, the monitor shuts itself down. (The monitor power light turns solid yellow.) Just prior to this happening, the computer will sound like it is running hard and loud. However, the computer does not shut down, just the monitor. The only way to get the monitor back is to power off the system and reboot. After rebooting, everything appears to work just fine...for a while. Then the monitor goes away again. I replaced the monitor cable/power cord but problem continues. No error messages, no blinking lights. …

Earlier today I downloaded a game recording client from wegame.com and macromedia flash 8. After both were done my computer froze up so i had to reset. Everything seemed fine so i started working on macromedia. In the middle of me working on it the monitor turned black and said that there was no input signal. The computer turns on fine, but there is no input signal for the monitor, and i can't get the keyboard to connect, the number lock and caps lock wont flash or turn on. I'm not sure if it could be a virus from wegame.com …

I've got a older monitor (it's most likely pre-2000, or close to) and when I first power it on, it fragments. The cpu information and windows version screens turn choppy, and seem to move up the screen. It also emits a high pitched whistle. Both problems disappear when: A:I turn the screen power switch off, then on, Or B: As soon as the GUI desktop first appears. What's the problem? P.S. When I shut down my computer, I leave the screen power switch on and usually flip the 6-plug outlet I'm using off. (Yes, silly, I shut down the CPU …

hello there, Daniweb community. I'm new to the site and know next to nothing about computers. I have got a problem. I suspect it's common, but regardless, I can't seem to find anyone else with the problem. What's been happening is my laptop (Compaq Presario F767NR) seems to turn off when I "open" the laptop. By that I mean when I flip the screen portion up so that both the keyboard and the monitor are exposed. I can only open it so much (less than a 90 degree angle) before the screen goes black (blank) and if I open even …

My monitor display color turns green intermittently. The screen resolution is good however the display looks as if a green screen is used. Due to this, the colors are not visible properly. What could be the problem? I tried with a different monitor and the display is good.

I am having a problem in Delphi with the use of multiple monitors. My application consists of a main form, with several different kinds of child forms. If I started running my application (not from Delphi – the executable), and I then enable a second monitor, and then move from one type of child form to another, my application would immediately crash. The same thing happens if I have started my application with two monitors enabled, and then disable the secondary monitor. I don’t get this behavior if I enable or disable the secondary monitor before starting my application – …

Hello, Just yesterday I picked up parts for a new computer that I'd planned to build. I had a couple of friends over to help me out. It went quite well considering none of us have ever built a PC from scratch before, only upgraded certain parts and so on. At first it wouldn't start at all but that ended up being only a wire being connected the wrong way, so now it runs fine - All fans are revolving, the hard drive is going, the bluray burner is alive, the graphics card's fans are going as well, and the …

Product Review HP 2711x LED Monitor

Hewlett Packard recently launched a new line of x-Series LED backlit LCD monitors. Sitting at the top of the size chart in that line is the HP 2711x, a gorgeous 27-inch monitor that enhances the look of any desktop system. HP packs several new features and technologies into this new display, starting with a cooler, more efficient backlight. By replacing the traditional cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) with a new LED (Light Emitting Diode), the backlighting consumes nearly half the energy while achieving higher contrast ratios, earning this monitor a 5.0 ENERGY STAR rating. As large as it is, the …

Hello, I have a Acer Aspire 5920 that currently has a 15.4" display, which has very low contrast and and low resolution(1280x800). I just recently had my old 17" Toshiba crap out on me, and it has a absolutely gorgeous screen, high contrast and the resolution is (1440x900). Now what in trying to do is to replace my Acer's 15.4" LCD with the 17" from my old Toshiba. Now before I get bashed saying it cant be done, I have already experimented with it, with very pleasing results. The Acer's inverter powered the back lights just fine, and when I …
