Geany. Excellent editor for linux, more powerful than gedit/notepad++, but still light. Compile with GCC. For Java (EE) I use NetBeans. I use [K]ubuntu OS.

Looks like bad permissions. Arent JSP's compiled on-the-fly to class files? (Basically your JSP->servletish code which is whats actually run) - therefore ensure the server has right permissions on the folder these are supposed to be output to. Check the Tomcat log.

I much prefer using the opensource toolkits QT and GTK to MFC/Win32 (For C++ and C code, respectively). GTK tutorial: http://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/3.2/gtk-getting-started.html

It works fine, I build OpenGL apps all the time in it. You just havent configured it right. Get the SDK(s) you need, and then set up the linker/compiler paths so it can find the headers and libaries requied.

No QT on android. You *can* do (some) android development in C++ using the NDK but its generally for system-level-stuff. End user apps are generally done in Java. Bear in mind that GUIs in android is nothig like the way you do it on the desktop (swing etc..)

Change your password before deleting it, and remember to remove all apps and/or connections, as if it is linked to e.g. yahoo, or you have it on your iphone, and one of those tries to sign in, it will annoyingly reactivate it.

Ive not used apache, but the ASP.NET support in Aprelium's Abyss Web Server was good. I think it only runs on Windows, though. Mono's version of IIS for Linux is called XSP or something i think....

Yes, thats the way to do i under windows Is it 98/NT/2k/XP? If you mean the HDD password then you are out of luck. I lost it for my old R30 and IBM said i would require a new motherboard (luckily i remembered it)

Before the tutorials section had lots of poor tutorials so now we ask they are posted here first, then you PM a moderator and if they like it, they will see about putting it in the Tutorials Section.

I know people still working on FORTRAN code..... languages dont just die as soon as the next new thing comes along, code represents a significant investment and if it aint broke, dont fix it. I like C++. Sure C# etc.... is nicer for RAD but its not as flexible...

It depends. If you are writing web-services, I prefer Java. Its nice to be able to write something REST-ful that can be used by many views/clients. PHP is easier to get code up and running rapidly though.
