As the owner of a few blogs, I personally dont approve any comments that is blatantly commenting just to have back links. I wonder how many other blog owners have similar policy.

One thing for sure, dont buy facebook friends.

Most importantly, for any offline or online promotion, start thinking where is your target audience, and then use whatever advertising to reach them.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I second to Jay's comment. To prevent your links to be deleted, always read the Terms of Agreement here so you wont violate rules and you be a good community members.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

If link exchange works for you, do it, I personally recommend a mix of different tactics to drive traffic to your site and do this long term, not only for one day. This way, you also increase visibility.

Have you been tempted to use Google Analytics?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Spammers had to think of innovative ways to spam people since the Nigerian plea email, AOL, and Paypal phishing is old news.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Did you search on mashable.com? There are great resources there.

Do anyonehere use a multi login service like friendFeed?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Could Buzz be just another vehicle for Google to be able to generate more user content and thus tie it with advertising?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I know some time ago there was the concept of OpenID so it can be one ID login but it quickly died. What happened?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Google has made it really hard to have any sense of privacy.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

And dont forget to plug your Facebook Fan Page as much as possible offline and online.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks for the very interesting insights on social media and love. It depends but with so many eyes monitoring status and wall updates, I may prefer not to post happy v-day messages to any ex, to avoid opening a can of worms.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I never heard of gostats. How is it different or better than Google Analytics?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

You need to avoid link farms like the plaque. It adds no real value since visitors usually wont lookup at a link farm for resources (unless it is on a reputable site and the links are context related to the site).

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

But I am surprised that this year's ad did not get as much buzz as previous years. Also, there were more CBS in-house ads than before which is a reflection on less buyers.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have been looking at different type of video related ads, like pre-rolls and videoegg ads. So if you have experience with these ads, let us know.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Would you write on your ex's facebook wall to wish them happy valentines day? What do you think about communicating via social media to an ex and leaving all the hurt and past behind?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks. Do you use it for big sites or just for small sites?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

As Im looking for mobile apps on Google, I found Latitude. The premise is that you can easily find where your friends are - like a GPS for friends. My only concern is that my contacts may actually be undercover stalkers or I just dont want them to know my whereabouts. So I wont use Latitude. What about you?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Hi. I know Im not the only person who has a plethora of logins. If so, how do you manage not to get all your cyber identities all confused?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Do you have the same profile name on each service?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

It seems that the premise of Google Buzz is for members to share their comments. My thing is "Do people really care?" I wish they do but what do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

With so many social media options, I thought I cant be the only one who have many profiles with many different passwords. So how many do you have? I have at least 10:
1. This one
2. Facebook
3. LinkedIn
4. Youtube
5-8. Several Personal sites
9. Google
10. yahoo

What about you?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes, you have to create incentives to entice people to become fans.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I was totally surprised about this Buzz. I do believe that Google should have sent a mass email announcement about this Buzz. The only think I like is the little colorful logo.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

oh i like that. Can you provide testimonials?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I di dnot see the superbowl so do tell!

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I recommmend that if you are doing offline promotion - tie it with a holiday - like giving away little usable cups for people to celebrate Oscars with your company's logo and info, etc.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I never heard of it. The site looks nice and its mobile but to be honest, I will still with Linkedin.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I never really heard of "Buzz" until today when I am logging into my Gmail account and I was welcome to a Buzz login. I like the little colorful logo and it seems it integrates tweet feeds and other "friends" on your gmail account address book. But what do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Be careful where you park!!!

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes it does. Google PageRank take this into consideration. You have to be careful where you post.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have heard of some sites using Yahoo IM with camera to enable cams. But I dont know the success or how easy it was to implement it.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I agree. It also requires to be able to recognize potential problems early on.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

The majority of the superbowl ads are supposed to drive viewers to either buy the product or visit their site for additional information. So from this past Super Bowl, were there any ads that triggered you to visit their website?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Interesting post on emarketer on social media marketing best practices. http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?R=1007200

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I agree with SurinderSharma. I also like to note that content is key!! You can do all the promotion in the world but if the visitors are not satisfied when arriving to your site, then they wont convert.

The best way to promote the webiste and generate huge traffic get more quality back links for your site, for back links do proper off-page optimization.

Off-page optimization is :
1. Article submission
2. Social bookmarking
3. Directory submission
4. Forum posting
5. Blog commenting
6. Press release

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I agree - you have to make sure that the links are from reputable sites with decent Google Page Rank and attract visitors that you want to visit to your own site.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

It depends on the types of sites you want to post comments. I actually like to post comments on yelp for restaurants and tripadvisor for resorts and hotels.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

It also comes down to: What is your site offering that will entice people to visit your site?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks for bringing this issue to light. I have also heard other types of complaints about the cruise industry before.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Its no surprise. This is an example of how the merger of social life and academics become one. Look, now it is acceptable form of behavior to not only have a Facebook page, that schools have their online presence as well.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have heard recommendations of resubmitting them every week or month - as long as you have updated the content and keep it fresh.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Some people have seen great traffic - this is what experts say at those conferences - but I personally only seen only a temporary lift. Thus, I personally think Twitter is good for people who have a big following and even with a 1% CTR - it can mean in the hundreds.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Banner ads. EHarmony sell banner space and its a paid site - a very expensive one to say the least. So banner ads and perhaps sponsored emails from your advertisers is an option.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Also, on Google use: backlink:your url

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Backlinks are important - Links from other pages that refer back to your page. The quantity of backlinks can be taken into account as an off-page factor in ranking of SERPs. For more info - go here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backlinks

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

$1k? I do see twitter account have a value, but the value flunctuates and may not really provie much values overall - especially, if all the person does is post self promoting links
