As the owner of a few blogs, I personally dont approve any comments that is blatantly commenting just to have back links. I wonder how many other blog owners have similar policy.

One thing for sure, dont buy facebook friends.

Most importantly, for any offline or online promotion, start thinking where is your target audience, and then use whatever advertising to reach them.

I second to Jay's comment. To prevent your links to be deleted, always read the Terms of Agreement here so you wont violate rules and you be a good community members.

If link exchange works for you, do it, I personally recommend a mix of different tactics to drive traffic to your site and do this long term, not only for one day. This way, you also increase visibility.

You need to avoid link farms like the plaque. It adds no real value since visitors usually wont lookup at a link farm for resources (unless it is on a reputable site and the links are context related to the site).

But I am surprised that this year's ad did not get as much buzz as previous years. Also, there were more CBS in-house ads than before which is a reflection on less buyers.

I have been looking at different type of video related ads, like pre-rolls and videoegg ads. So if you have experience with these ads, let us know.

As Im looking for mobile apps on Google, I found Latitude. The premise is that you can easily find where your friends are - like a GPS for friends. My only concern is that my contacts may actually be undercover stalkers or I just dont want them to know my whereabouts. So I wont use Latitude. What about you?

I recommmend that if you are doing offline promotion - tie it with a holiday - like giving away little usable cups for people to celebrate Oscars with your company's logo and info, etc.

I never really heard of "Buzz" until today when I am logging into my Gmail account and I was welcome to a Buzz login. I like the little colorful logo and it seems it integrates tweet feeds and other "friends" on your gmail account address book. But what do you think?

I agree with SurinderSharma. I also like to note that content is key!! You can do all the promotion in the world but if the visitors are not satisfied when arriving to your site, then they wont convert.

The best way to promote the webiste and generate huge traffic get more quality back links for your site, for back links do proper off-page optimization.

I agree - you have to make sure that the links are from reputable sites with decent Google Page Rank and attract visitors that you want to visit to your own site.

It depends on the types of sites you want to post comments. I actually like to post comments on yelp for restaurants and tripadvisor for resorts and hotels.

It also comes down to: What is your site offering that will entice people to visit your site?

Its no surprise. This is an example of how the merger of social life and academics become one. Look, now it is acceptable form of behavior to not only have a Facebook page, that schools have their online presence as well.

I have heard recommendations of resubmitting them every week or month - as long as you have updated the content and keep it fresh.
