you can format it with boot disk from [url]www.bootdisk.com[/url], but you will need a Windows OS disk disk to reload windows ! or you could switch to a Linux OS ,its free download from the net .

remember that a new mommy board that takes ddr2 will most likely also need a new CPU, and depending on what you have now for a mommy board you may need a new power supply also ,for the p4 plug if you old psu doesn't have one !just a thought

uninstall the drive from device manger and reboot and let it reinstall the drive ,if still the same maybe you could check the cables on the driver or borrow another drive to see if it act the same way

i agree its sounds like your power supply and you could do more damage leaving it run ,looking for other ideas .go get a new power supply now!! the front button will not shut it down until it actually boots up and gets shut down correctly

probably was just the power supply !! if you are lucky you may not have damaged anything else ,you got your warning when you first smell something burning !you should have stopped using the computer then and had it looked at .hopefully you did nt ruin the motherboard !

In device manager PCI Device has a yellow question mark, and states the drivers for this device are not installed. =========== this is usually the mother board chipset drivers ,find them on motherboard disk or mb's makers web site
