are the cdrom blank or do they have data on them, are they commercial disk like games or music,or disk you've created yourself using a burner .are they dirty perhaps or scratched

have a SATA DVD drive thats not working. I have an IDE drive on hand and wanted to use it for now. My MOBO is an ASUS P5B-Deluxe. There is only ine IDE header on this MOBO and one IDE cable included in the box that the MOBO came in and it's labled HDD but am I to assume that it can be used for my optical drive? The cable has three connections on it, blue ( to MOBO ) then the other end has a black plug on the end and down from the it has a gray plug. I assume that the black one is for master and the gray one is for slave. My question is, which one do I use for my DVD drive? Master or slave? Or does it mattrer at all because my HDD is using one of the SATA plugs.

your post card should have come with a code book d555 is most like just for that post card and not a AMI code.

also if all fans are on and its not booting the first thing i would check is the power supply,working but faulty ones act this way ,try another one ,borrow working one is best way to try .

did you try skip through when it as for the sata drives , i have usb floppy but have never tried to use it in this fashion so can say if it will work

you could try nlite and create a win media disk adding the sata drivers .step 2 shows integrating drivers

Try Removing the CMOS battery and installing it after 1/2 hr .I think it should Work

Hi, i currently have 512mb of ram and i would like to upgrade it. I have 1 available space for ram. is it possible for me to remove the 512mb and replace it with 2x 1gbs? also how do you know what ur max amount of RAM is?

My motherboard is a P4M800Pro-8237. my ram ports are DDR. my computer is a Intel Pentium 4 640 and the specification is Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz.

not a ram expert ,but the faster ram speed will decently make a difference ,the closer you get the ram FSB the Same as Your CPU's FSB the better off you will be ,i think ,it works like this i think,CPU 1333 FSB to Ram 800 fsb is like a relay runner passing the baton to a runner with one leg ,everything will slow down ,

i don't know off hand but there is usually a diagram on the hdd lable telling you how to set the jumpers ,if the drives are on the same ribbon cable ,then the one with windows on it will have to be set to master /with slave ,and the other as slave ,or you could try cable select on both

my opinion is its either a bad install disk or the harddrive has issues ,when boot to the xp cd next time do a R instead of install ,and go to the recovery console and do a CHKDSK /f at the prompt

Hello, I am new to this site and need help please. I recently tidied up my desktop by removing certain programe files - those that said had not been used for some time ( bad idea ). This seems to have resulted in a loss of sound on my Acer Aspire T135. In Device Manager, the ac97 c-media audio device icon is present but has a yellow exclamation mark. In Properties, it says " This device cannot start ( code 10 ). I have tried uninstalling it, but when I try to re-install it, " new hardware found " comes up, but the icon still has the yellow exclamation on it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Bob

when you try to reinstall .did you download drivers for it ,or are you just letting it search the computer for drivers .you will need to go to www.Acer.com and get drivers for your laptop model,look in support and download

Well, before they jumped up in priority, my 3d apps and games ran fine, but since then, they get maybe 1-2 fps, though they report something like 12-15 fps (still less than half of what was normal). I'm not sure if something is directly hampering the fps or if the refresh rate on the programs is being reduced somehow. Whatever happened, it seems to have only affected 3d applications, almost like something is forcing the graphics to be processed by the cpu instead of the gpu, or something similar.

in a system with configuration
P III 1 Ghz, 256MB SD RAM, 40 GB Hard disk

Due to some problems, i formatted the system and installed windows xp sp2, It all took the drivers automatically.

After a clean install, I installed AVG antivirus 8.0, after installing the monitor displays goes blank and i need to power off the system and onn it, I went to safe mode and uninstalled AVG antivirus and it gone to normal mode. I tried to instal AVG antivirus again and the same happened to me, i don't know whether it is a hardware problem or software problem. I even don't know where to post this message. help me

did you type in www.verizion.net into the address line or are trying to connect from a link somewhere

try pinging version .go to start /run ,type in CMD ,in the prompt type in this with out the quotations ,
"ping www.verizon.net" hit enter ,note there is a space between ping and the www.
see if it connects and there is no time out

assuming you are using IE 6 or 7 ,did you try www.firefox.com browser ,also it maybe a netgear compatibility issue ,you should have tried a different brand for the new one .

I assume you used the cdrom that came with the router to set it up 1 did you contact Verizon or Netgear for help with it

might be easier to take out the hard drive and slave it into another computer and get the files that way

i know, but i have to say it anyway ,why did you save the settings ! when in drought always chose cancel or exit with out saving changes , you should be able to hit f2 again and go in and chose default settings and save the changes .

anyway ,what are you trying to accomplish ,are you just trying to add the drive to you computer so you can use it as a storage drive , if so make sure the jumpers on the drive are set to slave ,and make sure the original drive is set to master with slave ,that is if you have both drives on the same IDE ribbon cable

use what ever computer you are using now maybe, to download and burn the image to disk ,windows doesn't need to work as the program works on its own at bootup
