get ccleaner ,it has a tool section that will give you excess to the add and remove programs to remove quicktime if that is what you want to do .are you saying that every program on you computers start menu opens with quick time

people here would need to know what you have for a power supply now to be able to say if you need upgrade or not .

you need to download sound drivers for it to work ,so many different ones exist that you need more info for us to help you ,like make and model of the motherboard in the computer .

I thought you new that ,I thought you were just looking for the biggest cpu the old board would take,without buying a new board .
You will likely need a new power supply ,new video card[unless it has onboard video] ,new Ram ,as the new boards will not take you old stuff ,except maybe the power supply if it has enough wats!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but i want to know what the difference is between svideo in and svideo out, and the same for composite, component, etc. This question came to my mind when i saw ports on my pc listed as svideo in and svideo out. Please explain the difference between the in and out on these ports. Thanks for your help.

yup hate to agree but is a dumb ? .
simple put in= is for putting video/sound into the computer from another source.
out =is for taking video/sound out of the computer .

a laptop/computer with svideo out plug can be displayed on a TV with a svideo plug.by using a svideo cable .
also components work the same ,if a video card has a video in, it means you could connect tv to computer .if it has video capture device it can record from TV.hope this helps

You cannot access the data's in the old Hard disk, because that is created by another administrator. To access the data you must take the ownership of the particular folder.
Follow these steps,

1. Go to Start->settings->control panel->folder options
2. Click the view tab.
3. In the Advanced settings box uncheck the option (use simple file sharing) which is located at the last.
4. And then go to the folder from which you want to access the data from your old hard disk.
5. Right click on the folder select properties.
6. Click the sharing tab.
7. Select the option share this folder.
8. Click the permission button.
9. Under the option permissions for everyone check full control options.
10. Now you will be able to access the data from the old hard disk

your option #3 is only listed in winxp pro and not in the xp home version

thanks man, but what i need is to remove the button near shortcut , its called configuration button of navigation pane, or to disable it.

you will not beable to remove it in my opinion because its part of the program ,and you call it an issue,I don't see how the button being there is an issue.

i just finished fixing dx6000 wireless problem,it would connect but not go to any web pages ., i use the hp wireless assistant to check the connection and there was a IP address conflict and it corrected it somehow and now it works .I guess maybe you could go to control panel ,hp assistant and run it to see if it can fix your problem.
do you have any security setup on the router ,do you need a wep key to connect to the wireless from the laptop .

while i am upgrading my bios with one of file update that i found in vaio update site my bios is damaged .
now i cant see any thing on my displayer and it doesn't boot

Flashing the bios is the most dangerous upgrade you can do to your computer ,it maybe that you ruined the bios chip and will have to have a new on installed .the bios info is what boots the computer so incorrect info is only fixed with a new bios chip with the proper info in it .so to the laptop maker you go!.

you processor or video card maybe overheating ,open the case and make sure all fans and heatsinc are free of dust/dirt .

Dosn't it tell you when you click on the update icon and go custom or advance install
if not right click on mycomputer go /properties /windows updates and turn it off ,then go to IE whatever version you use, and go tools, and windows updates, and do a custom search for updates ,should tell you then , it may be Service pack 3

strange ! it usually works and you are the first person i suggested it to that had it cause another problem .
Go to start run and type this in "services.msc " without the quotes ,scroll to the bottom of the services list look for wireless zero configuration ,make sure that service is set to automatic .
I think the hp assistant can be turned on in the control panel or in start /all programs ,look for HP wireless assistance.if not I will be working on a HP laptop later today will check out the HP wireless assistance program and let you know more .

yes everything ,the usb cdrom might work as long as the bios has options for booting to usb device .

not a whole lot you can do with out cdrom or windows disks to fix windows/system32/config/system,does your laptop have a recovery partition ,like hit f11 to run recovery ,this will most likely cause you to loose all info on the drive .

usually means bad harddrive ,open the case and unplug the power to the harddrive and see if it go past the detecting ide drives

Do you mean the shortcut ,if so click on the little arrow and go to add and remove buttons , and uncheck shortcuts.
if you mean both the shortcut and the little arrow ,i doubt you will remove the little arrow .
